This video came with quite a plot twist that Cheyenne had three--no four--Sears locations throughout the years, something I didn't know until I did this video. For the 90+ percent of you in North America, how many Sears did you have in your area, if any? (And for those not in North America, what are some department stores you have in your area?) ADD-ON#1: A map from the 1950s confirms the address of Sears' original Carey Ave space as being in the same location that is now Fred Harrison Trial Lawyer and Counselor in Law. Here's the map: spcrphotocollection.wyo.gov/luna/servlet/s/v4ees7 ADD-ON#2: I saw the A&E service van headed eastbound on US-30 near Whitney Rd today, 1/19, day of typing. So they do still have some form of Sears services in Cheyenne.

Here in the Houston area, we had several locations. By 2017, it was the beginning of the end for Sears both here in Houston and in Texas in general. I believe by 2020, Sears completely pulled out. The only Sears left in Texas to this day is in El Paso.

Yeah, there's a lot more than I expected to find. I'd like to eventually see if I can find an article from 1957 that further confirms what was said in the Sears Grand Opening bit for Frontier Mall. There are some interesting teases of the Sears at the Carey Ave location... I should probably cover it!

Happy New Year, Opt! Loving the new video. I miss Sears and Kmart!

Same to you! Cheers! At the end of the day, I miss them too. They both have had things that you just couldn't get anywhere else, and without them here so much anymore... You just can't get certain things anymore. It's a shame.

I worked at the Sears at the mall in high school, pretty cool video, talk about trip down memory lane.

Yeah I get that to some extent. When I was younger, that's where most of our appliances and things of the like came from. TVs, lawn care supplies, even other tools. Sure, can find stuff at other stores, JAX included, no hate on any of the other stores here... but it isn't the same.

The first time I ever remember going to Sears was the store on 17th. The store front was all desks with paper catalogs. You would write down the number of items you wanted to purchase and take them to the clerk to pay. A few weeks later, they would call and we would go to the store to pick up our items.

That's quite interesting and cool to learn! I know back then, the catalog was a big thing, and I understand that they had what were literally catalog stores. Nowadays, it's definitely much different... more likely of going online to go "cataloging" so to speak instead of doing that through a book and ordering/mail system.

Very interesting details here. My old Sears originally started in downtown Salem in 1934 as a small format shop. The store was around for 15 years until 1949, they decided to move to a bigger space of standalone building with two floors a bit far away from downtown. Finally in 1990, for the second time they have relocated to my former mall. The Sears would later close in January of 2019. I remember my parents telling me that they've went to the original two stories standalone Sears during the 80s. My mom told me the Sears clothing department reminds her of JCPenney vibe. Aside from that, I still miss Sears and it feels like yesterday when they closed down for good. Great vid!

Wow, even older there! They clearly expanded fast over the years. I was wondering how far back things went until I found the newspaper clippings that I showed in the video, and that was an eye opener!

There ya go! Come to think of it... it would not surprise me if some of our silverwear came from Sears before Bed Bath and Beyond came into the game. But now both are gone.
