Here at my backyard gym in BRASIL, I solved the problem with the light on the bench press by putting LED light strips in the corners of the ceiling, as if there were a crown molding. It was clear but the light doesn't harm the eyes.

Man you have a nice set up. Concerning the mats you can take a razor blade and trim off those puzzle piece ends.
