I know this is an older video, but interestingly enough, (although, they are all very good) I thought the Ultra was my least favorite sound. That surprised me. My second favorite was the American Pro. It had a pretty decent sound. However, the guitar that blew me away was the American Professional II. That axe sounds great. So much so, I ordered one. Can't wait for it to show. Thanks for the comparison. It was really great!

@@isolirionband7300 Yes, I think the American Pro II is better than the other guitars you mentioned, especially for the genre of music you want to play. Actually, after having it for a couple months now and getting to know it better, it is a serious guitar for just about any type of music you may want to play. I wasn't sure if I was crazy about the rhythm circuit but now having used it for a bit, I really like it. I use it for blues, classic rock and some jazz. It is really a great guitar. It has a very wide tonal range. I am dialing in the neck to get the action that I like. Very close but not quite there yet. I have an ES 335 that was perfect right out of the box. The Fender requires some fiddling. I did have a couple of minor issues I needed to take care of with the Fender. I do not think their quality control is what it used to be. However, after sorting things out, the guitar is awesome. I highly recommend it.

The neck as far as I can find is a .80-.82 depth at the 1st fret, and that is NOT even a little chunky.. Example an SG standard batwing guard is around .88! And these were nitro now they are back to using poly again.. old vids have been edited or pulled from youtube. I know because I bought them and had them ALL over covid. I do mean ALL of them.. Im glad because I prefer poly..

Looking forward to grabbing the Pro 2. Seems they finally caught back up with supply. Most vendors have a little wait, and ask to do a pre order. But Fender usually has most colors now, if buying direct. I just think the Pro 2 sounds the best. Pickups wise it sounds decent. But I also like the pure vintage 65 pickups as well. Something I could swap if I wanted, for not much money later. But the Vmods seems to do the trick! I’ve been a Gibson guy most my life, but I just like the sound of these. Gives a very good contrast for more dreamy, and panoramic sounds in a mix. Would go great with my 87 JC77 Amp, and also my tech 21 blonde if going DI to get that Fender amp sound. Great demo, and really showed the difference between Ultra and Pro 2! I tore my index finger ligament on my playing hand..so no guitar till December :(

I have the ultra and I just can’t wait to change damn pick ups out. So jarring when I switch from my strat or offset tele to it as the pick ups are so quiet/dull
@doctorrobm3 жыл бұрын
Hey I have an ultra too, and while the pickups are very quiet, try changing the volume/gain on your amp to match your other guitars and then compare. Human ears tend to go "Loud = better" but when I matched volumes, I found I liked the sound of the ultra JM pickups a lot.
@DennisBastian3 жыл бұрын
Here's the thing. Single coil pickups are supposed to have some noise and it's actually a good thing. It adds to the harmonic richness of the sound and it is one of the things that makes them sound so nice and clear, defined, or whichever term you'd like to use, and thick at the same time. Imo if the noise is still an issue in the context of a full band mix you're probably better off getting some kind of noise reducer or gate then getting noiseless pickups.

Ultra sounds dull, last place for me. Pro II has one great tone but I don't care for the rest of them even though there is a lot of them. I would pick the Pro I because it's simple and has the best tone across all the settings. I would be happy with either the Pro I or II. I like modern C neck shape with 9.5 radius which these have. Excellent comparison. Thanks

Fender put all of the modern appointments on the Ultra... and then made it 21 frets instead of 22! What?? I don't understand the logic at all.

The pickups on the American Professional, are they V-Mods or '65? I read they were V-Mods on the Professional and V-Mod II on the Pro II. Can someone please clear this up? Thanks.

I am so in love with the body shape and general "Jetsons" Space Deco vibe of them... especially the blue one, that's sexxxy! But I just can't love that jangly sound! That tone would pretty much ruin my music, sadly 😥. Cos I want to love them..but in truth I'm a rocker. I play Les Pauls, SG's, Strats and Teles...and if I'm going off script for funky value....a Firebird, Explorer or V. I want to go offscript with a jazzmaster, but...it looks like a Fano or one of those Player series HH, or HS Jag...,or even a Meteora is the go for me. Cos I just can't dig jangly!

Great to see your love for the jazzmasters cooper, I probably lived under a rock but I'm falling in love. Question: I really want the best clean tone with a good range as a base for my pedals (ambient / textural music). Which model do you recommend? And I read a lot about bridge problems with jazzmasters. Is it really necessary to replace the bridge (e.g. for a mastery brigde)? Which jazzmasters have this problems, and how big is the problem really?
