I live for the light days like this. Although I've never gone out in under 5 knots, I've definitely found myself in these conditions while out.

Great skill. I want to expand my light wind capabilities. Maybe you could give me recommendations regarding gear. Is a Mid aspect foil or high aspect foil better? How big(cm^3) would you say the front and back wing should be for optimal performance in light wind? Is a bigger or smaller rear wing better? Is shimming the rear wing better or getting a bigger rear wing? I would really appreciate if you had an oppinion and vould share it. Thanks

hi, thanks ; you should give a bit more details about your weight and witefoil level; ok let's assume you are 75 kg and intermediate level (gibes and kite loops at waterstart) ; too high AR kites are not forgiving below 7 knots ; so if you want to ride below, choose a middle AR kite, like Conceptair pulsion, Falcon which are the kites I know with the best "easy" low-end ; then you can consider other kites which needs 1 more knot of wind, but with some advantages : Pansh Kestrel (agility , depower and high wind) , Soul2 (a bit heavy but easy and excellent relaunch) , Kitsch FRS (very stable , excellent relaunch and agility, a little lack of power so choose 15m minimum) , Gin Spirit (a bit less stable but very powerful and speed); the easier kite I tested is the recent Alma, hybrid foilkite, light but limited speed. One excellent alternative is the LEI Ocean Rodeo Alula kite, 14m or 17m, very light , agile, depower; just very expensive and need 7-8 knots to relaunch easily. Hope that helps

@@regisboulard thanks for your reply! Wouldn’t have expected that a little less AR on the kite would be easier in low wind. Definitely helpful. I am 65kg and am Intermediate level. What would your opinion be on hydrofoils? I heard high aspect foils are easier to pump, faster(so more apparent wind), but need more speed to get going initially. Is the initial speed required for a high aspect foil too high to get going and therefore a Mid aspect one is better suited?

I cannot answer easily because my higher AR foils are smaller. Surface is the key... I have the easier waterstart with my low AR 1200cm2. However my higher AR freeride2 comes quite close to it , despite 750 cm2 i think

@robertrecco710 Жыл бұрын
Very clear put your tampons in the water four five minutes leave your tampons unattended on beach with no bar lines attached and fly your tampons in over powered conditions like I said guys show up on our beach with tampons next year you see them they have a kite made to fly in all conditions and in overpowering conditions and that’s inflatable’s again fuck you flysurfer actually now I call them fly shit good luck with your tampons
@leonk3933 Жыл бұрын
Well, you can't fly a tube in these winds, so... ;) And if you get a pansh, you just need to invest 300€

@@leonk3933 bull shit UFO v2 9 meter 7/10 no problem for me any lighter foil pumping off a dock or in ocean wave foiling any body who shows up with the shit ass tampons next year they show up back to inflatables wonder why tampons are for people who like to fuck with there with spaghetti messes or constantly tuning the outstretched bridals from a overpowering conditions if that your thing fine my job is to inform kiters not to waste there money on tampons until they know what there getting in to and that’s one big over priced headache constantly
