Hi. Very informative video. What’s the fill plug and drain plug torque?
@MattySRT24 күн бұрын
Doesn’t need to be much. It’s not doing anything other than holding the fluid in. Just get it tight around 10lbs

Hey Matty! I have a 2018 SRT, and last week , I called Dodge London and asked this question : Do I need to service my transfer case or differential? They said no! Now ...in the owners manual, they state that it should be done around 100k if I m not mistaken
@MattySRT Жыл бұрын
Everything needs maintenance. Some things more often than others. Depending on how you drive it may need to be sooner. I have driven this 392 pretty hard doing lots of things so I just wanted to swap those fluids before 40k. You can see how dirty the transfer case fluid was when it came out. Brand new it’s red but it came out almost black. Front differential wasn’t bad at all and the back was just the break in fluid from the dealer so it was dirty yet it had metal pieces in it from the break in

You are mistaken for the diffs by a ton bro. It's part of the 54k mile service.

I could feel that mine needed it at about 60K

No limited slip additive used for the rear!? A lot of other videos use it.
@MattySRT11 ай бұрын
No need to use it with Amsoil. I havent had any issues. My buddy said if i hear anything we can always put some in but all is good so no need. Save the $10 or whatever it costs.
@endo0067 ай бұрын
Definitely get the one with friction modifier in it. They say you will ruin the LSD clutches pretty quick without it. Some on the forums even add a little to the stuff that comes with it.

I just got the gear oil for the front and rear plus transfer case fluid from Amoil. Before I start the job I need to confirm the vehicle has to be level to do the job correct. I notice you had jack stands on the front while adding the fluid, wouldn't that make it none level.
@MattySRTАй бұрын
Very good observation. Yes u need to be level but on Jack stands the angle is very minimal. That’s why you squirt just a little extra in before putting the screen back in. Thendirects calling for being level are making sure you don’t do it on a slanted driveway to prevent the vehicle from rolling away etc.

So I have the 22 durango Rt version. I get back and forth info from people. Should I purchase the limited slip additive to add with that gear oil in the rear? I know it comes with it already mixed with the oil but is there enough slip additive@MattySRT

7:18 explained how he created a special tool for the fill hole because the exhaust pipe is in the way but then showed a completely different tool altogether.. 🤦♂️
@MattySRT Жыл бұрын
Good catch. I had edited this at 2 different times and we originally couldn’t find his big Allen wrench that fit in there to break the plug loose so we had rigged that tool. In the video we found it and I forgot to remove that part from video. Thank you for the clarification.

Durango GT same process? What type of oil & fluid?
@MattySRT Жыл бұрын
Yes pretty much all Durangos have close to same drivetrain but there’s uniformity still of how to change everything. I’m using Amsoil severe gear oil for the differentials and then atf4 fluid for transfer case
@anthonycote16155 ай бұрын
My 21 Durango gt plus used mopar transmission fluid non at4 in the transfer case and 75w-85 in rear differential
@keithdillon27925 ай бұрын
Did you not use the mopar friction modifier for the rear diff?
@MattySRT5 ай бұрын
No need to with amsoil. It’s already built in.
@keithdillon27925 ай бұрын
Yeah, i read this about the amsoil after my comment. Im still hesitant to go to 75W90 rather than the specified 75W85. i know it probably fine but... @MattySRT
@MattySRT5 ай бұрын
@@keithdillon2792 you will be fine. Ive been on it for over a year with no issues as well as many others. barely any difference... Nothing wrong with slightly thicker oil

@MattySRT You mentioned you put 2qts in the xfer case. I am reading the MP3010 xfer case takes 1.4qts. Where did you see you fill until it starts dripping out?

@@keithdillon2792 roughly 2 quarts, yes you fill till it starts dripping out

What os the rear brace used for?
@MattySRT Жыл бұрын
Think of it as a extra strength device to keep your rear differential in place during extreme driving. Keeps things tight and adds more strength and contact point to keep things in place. Kinda like when a body builder wears a back brace during heavy lifting, helps support a lot better.

Ok sweet. Btw this video help me tremendously. I used my SRT Durango heavily. Just drove to Alaska and California from new jersey. Felt a knocking heading back home. Long story short my transfer case fluid was low. Thanks for the video.
