Former Audi Tech here, the headers are factory, which is definitely cool. I personally think they probably played a little fast and loose with the emissions, as during my time as a tech I had to replace quite a few cats that failed before the 8 year 80k mile warranty period. They flowed really well though. Valve covers were also factory. The traction control light should also reset automatically after the traction control computer sees input from all the wheel sensors. You shouldn't have to crank the steering wheel, it just needs to learn wheel speeds after the dead battery replacement.

Part of your problem with the CRC direct injector cleaner is it needs the airflow and heat of the engine. Just spraying it on the valves does a lot less. As I always recommend read and follow the instructions. I actually recommend using the CRC from the get go with DI cars and have it as part of the maintenance program on every 3rd oil change. For my customers I run it through do all of the driving and heat soaking then do the oil change. I had a customer who moved away the shop in his new town told him he needed a walnut blast he had 5hem show him proof. They pulled the intake and the valves were spotless. He called me to get the schedule for the CRC. They refused to do that service for him. Now he drives 5 hours for me to service his car again.
@christophersaint69264 ай бұрын
Someone who KZbin says doesn't exist asked me to describe the CRC GDI/Turbo cleaner process. It is super simple read the directions on the can and do exactly as it says. Basically warm up the car to full operating temp and spray that stuff in the intake after the mass airflow while holding the throttle at like 2k there are a couple of time it wants the engine revved to like 3k then once the can is empty put the car back together and let it sit and heat soak for about an hour then drive it for at least 10 miles at freeway speeds so above 50mph. That's from memory I advise you actually read the directions but they are that simple.
@AYoutubrrr4 ай бұрын
@@christophersaint6926 no way the valves look like they did in the video with just spraying in the intake, sorry fren.
@christophersaint69264 ай бұрын
@AYoutubrrr If you start from new or immediately after walnut blasting, they will. That CRC cleaner does a very good job when used per the directions. Especially if you don't wait for a problem to start using it. I and they clients I use the treatment for have been very happy. It was actually a customer who told me about it, and he uses it religiously on his GDI cars. Whether it's one we've modified for him or one of his daily drivers. He has never required a walnut blast, and the clients I use the CRC for haven't since the walnut blast before we started using it. Good stuff. Now, mind you, I don't buy the Wal-Mart version of the stuff. I do use the professional concentration, which I order directly from CRC or in a pinch I get from one of my parts vendors. You literally just have to follow the directions, and it works beautifully. Now, for an engine that carboned up, I'd run it change the oil, and after 500 miles, do it all over again it'll take 3 treatments to clean the intake valves properly. That's if the customer didn't want a walnut blasting and then start the treatment. My recommendation would be the latter. However, we have tested it, and 3 treatments will do the same job. Now that's gonna cost more than walnut blasting and be more time-consuming but it can be done.

That car has definitely been out there for the last 3 years. From the date codes the tires were replaced right before it sat. New tires can hold air sitting on grass for 3 years. It's been storming a ton in our area so that's why it looks clean but the camera definitely helps in that department. Everything looks good on camera in the sun. Like I say in the opening scene, my friend bought the car at an auction so I know exactly how long it's been out there.

Good job on taking care of this lady ! She deserves that and also a great video. I just want to put in a little advice to you as i have own several Audi types and still do, please use Castrol oil on the engine, almost all Audi engines are in a tight bond with Castrol from factory and many of them even have Castrol branded on the oil cap. So go for that buddy, other than that, good job all in all, have fun and take care ! ;)

He says at 32:00 or so that his friend bought the vehicle from the auction three years ago, so it must’ve been sitting in some storage area owned by the friend. Personally, I don’t see how you can buy a vehicle like that and let it sit for multiple years but who knows
@BtappinHD3 ай бұрын
If it was cleaned and waxed, or ceramic coated before being left out like that, then it's likely not going to get that dirty because of how much it rains in the midwest. Notice how in the opening shot at 0:04, the cars next to it also don't look that dirty.

I just finished my 2nd Audi B5 build. My first one is a single turbo converted, built engine, link ecu, 700hp on e85 2001 s4. My new one is a 1998 a4 with 2007 rs4 engine and 6 speed swap. With the original mechanical quattro from '98....dude....Its nowhere near as fast as my '01. Not even in the same ballpark. But i love it sooooooooo much more. The car weighs 2840 lbs with me in it. The weight reduction is pretty aggressive but it does have carpet, a/c, and a good stereo. I did a link stand alone ecu again because they're amazing, built some really badass stainless 2 inch primary long tube headers, stainless x pipe, out of a Lamborghini murcialago muffler i mounted behind the rear bumper and exits in the middle. It made my little black Audi sound like something from the depths of hell. Everyone asks me what the hell i have under the hood. I show them a bone stock b6 rs4 engine and they freak out. Seriously, if you want your car to sound ridiculous, buy a used Lambo murcialago muffler. I dont know what it is about that car in particular but, the mufflers are very very special. They completely change how any engine sounds. Im confident a vq35 would sound awesome with one thats how much it changed the sound of my car. It sounds identical to an LS with an 8:1, insanely counterproductive and power robbing, elh setup. If you've ever heard the Passat Tanner Foust used to drift, thats EXACTLY what my car sounds like. Wasn't on purpose. I had my fingers and toes crossed the first time i started the car. The second i whacked the throttle, even my wife looked at me like "damn...someone's getting lucky tonight." Shes a rich girl from a small town. The smell of race gas and tire smoke give her goosebumps. I shit you not. She thinks the fact im an automotive fabricator is SEXY...the fuck is wrong with her?

That engine made me so much money over the years. I can't count the amount of timing chains I've replaced. Good times
@silentsoul864 ай бұрын
The rs4 timing set is not the same as the S4's so I doubt it.
@Balticblue934 ай бұрын
Do the chains stretch? Aren't chains used instead of a belt to last the life of the engine? Or are there other serviceable parts that need changed at the same time? I bet that is an expensive job to have done.
@kevinmurphy49614 ай бұрын
@@silentsoul86 That is correct. The S4s have plastic guides while the RS4 has metal. The plastic guides would become brittle and break over time. I have a 2008 RS4 with 150K miles and it's still running strong. Also had a 2007 and drove it to 80K miles and never had issues with the timing chain...
@Maroco9184 ай бұрын
@@Balticblue93 chains are designed to last longer, sure. But they still have service intervals from the manufacturer. By no means are they designed to last forever. The long oil change interval that audi recommended for these engines really made the chains wear quicker than they should have. I was doing them at about 80k miles. They should have lasted 120k+
@Maroco9184 ай бұрын
@Balticblue93 yes we call it stretching when the chains get longer than original. In reality the link pivots are wearing and thinning out, causing the chain to become longer

Hey, since you like the clicking sound here is a little tip i learned. Most of VAG oil filters are in hardly accessible places but you can clip the oil filter on the oil cap, when it gets in will do a click sound and after that you can slide in the oil filter easy and firm in the spot. Also this is how Audi service does it where i live. Keep up the good work :D
