That little fish you called a goby is actually a log perch. They are a very common fish found throughout North America. We have lots of them up here in the Great Lakes.

The minnows you were seeing were bluntnose minnows and the thing you called a goby was actually a darter. They are all tiny micro fish and are very common.

My grandpa used to use minnow (minner) traps. Used to catch a lot of snakes in the creek, though.

I love fishing with live worms, but the big boys want minnows, also that fish was a common log perch🤙
