I primarily bass fish ponds. That is my bread and butter. One bait I feel like you forgot to mention is a Ned rig craw on a standup jig. This is the #1 bait to use in summer time in ponds. Bass will go out deep, in plant cover to ambush, or around docks. Use a spinning reel for finesse and fish it super slow with little twitches and pops, work it on the bottom.

I have been limited to fishing after 12 Pm here in New Hampshire as of late and have only been bass fishing for three years so I decided to learn a little more and came upon this video first. I had a brand new Chatterbait in my tackle box and decided to give it a go. I am fishing small ponds in the SW area where the Lilly Pads are already starting to thicken but top water frogs are not quite working yet (especially at high noon). Using a Colorado XT single person pontoon rowboat I set out yesterday and tried the Chatterbait and I was pleasantly surprised. Caught several juvies, 8-10 inches, a few 2-3 pounders and one 5-6 pounder. Some smashed the lure as it hit the water and some hit it as I pulled it along weed beds. Thanks for taking the time to record and share your findings. You video is quick and easy to follow with no frills just fishing tips.

Match the bait fish I fish ponds and I have found that a 4 inch white shad swimbait with a spinner has caught more fish than anything I have used. Yes I have caught them on just about every bait but that little bait is my go to. A black spinnebait is really good to. Black White Red and Silver are great all round colors.

Most small lakes or ponds have that slime weed or wood around. My best bait to use is a zoom Magnum shakey head worm with a 3/0 or 4/0 worm hook. I use light spinning gear with no weights added. I usually catch fish wherever I go. I bury the hook in the worm to make it weedless. I like to use green pumpkin. The slow fall gets them all the time. I also would recommend a zoom lizard rigged the same way. Pumpkin Pepper.

my all time fav lure for pond bass fishing is the Zera Spook Puppy. Funnest lure I've ever used and has the coolest action I've ever seen. The full sized Zera Spooks are really good too but I usually reserve those for larger lakes

Naa, here's your list for ponds. 1.) For a spinnerbait you need a white or yellow snagless salley. 2.) Virtually any 6 to 8 inch plastic worm in either green pumpkin, junebug, black, or purple depending on water color. 3.) For early morning and late evening top water a 110 size Whopper Plopper. I have made so many friends break down and ask me for a Snagless Salley while fishing a pond together it isn't funny. I have no idea why more people don't know about and use them. Best spinnerbait for shallow water ponds by far. Worms for the weeds and grass. And if you haven't used a Whopper Plopper yet you don't know what you are missing. Best top water plug period. Easy to use with just a steady retrieve. Tail spinning makes a nice gurgling sound and throws a perfect little flit of water with each rotation just like a baitfish fluttering on the surface. I'm telling you if you drag it over a big bass they got to have it. Great big bass lure.

@@DoctorSessany recommendations? I only have saltwater ones lol....
@DoctorSess Жыл бұрын
@@lilbeast11 I use saltwater lures to catch largemouth they don’t know the difference. That Badonka donk I mentioned is a saltwater lure in a mullet pattern but the bass love it too, at least when they’re actually hitting topwater. It’s a “walk the dog” lure which takes some practice and your wrist will get sore after a while but it’s a fun way to catch ‘em for sure. I also like buzzbaits. I throw a lot of spinner baits and swim jigs. Lipless crankbaits in Shad or bluegill patterns. When it slows down I rely on soft plastics. If I had to use one bait for the rest of my life it would either be a Senko worm or a Zoom Fluke rigged weightless. The fluke is nice because it’s versatile. Can fish it off the bottom, use it as a jerk bait, or even swim it across the top.
@Florida_as_Fuck Жыл бұрын
Dude, I slept on the whopperplopper style baits for a good while. But we recently had a ton of rain down here so all of our emergent vegetation has become submergent and topwater was back on the menu. It took an hour of fishing(if that) for me to gain confidence in 'em. Not a huge fan of just cast and reel but you impart a bit of action and throw pauses in regularly and holy heck, they kill.

Pick up a “rooster tail” lure from your local tackle shop. The secret is this; go small. Don’t pick a big one thinking you’ll get bigger fish. I’ve caught everything from 2” bait fish all the way up to 20” Largemouth on the SMALLEST rooster tail size. When it comes to color, I’ve always had the best luck using the bright white color, but I have at least 3 other colors with me at all times just in case. Best of luck out there & tight lines

I have not had the heart to get seriously back into fishing since my pawpaw passed away many years back (fishing buddies like him are priceless, irreplaceable and few and far between). Fortunately for me, I married a woman that was blessed to have a grandfather that took her fishing too. We have a few days off from work together for the first time in years so it's time to find a pond and wet a hook! We've been catfishing a few time with very little success, maybe 2 cats between us in half a dozen trips. It's the start of fall (early October) and I've got to be honest, I'm burning up with Bass fever. I've got her a few catfish rigs ready to go but here is what is on my lines: 1. Texas Rig Culprit Plastic Worm 2. Mini King 1/4 oz. Spinnerbait 3. Bitsy Pond Minnow Crankbait 4. Secret Weapon Modified Devil's Horse I am counting on those to catch a Bass because I am tired of getting skunked catfishing. Hopefully I can spark an interest in my wife. The main thing is if you love to fish, take someone you love fishing too. Trust me, those memories will last a lifetime whether you catch anything or not!

I like a Senko on a Texas rig. Something like a devils horse, nip a dee dee, or Jointed Jitterbug for top water. Then something like a Jointed Rapala at various depths depending on water temp. A shallow running , floating Rapala will work top water pretty well..... If I could only fish two things it would be a Texas rigged worm and a floating Rapala.... If I panfish I use a beetlespin, rooster tail, mepps, or small shad or curly tail jig.

Depends on geography and structure. I am in S. Tx. I use a 4" to 6" straight worm Texas rigged, no weight. Fish it super slow using a spinning rod. Next is a single large silver blade spinner bait. Cast and retrieve, yo-yo, or like a jig, all those methods can work. Early morning or evening and through the night I use a large Hula Popper. Let it settle. First pop, wait longer than you think. Often, summer fishing turns them off until late into the night. Nothing beats a violent explosion in pitch black dark. Same lure is fantastic for catching bull grogs if you like frog legs.

Just seen your channel brother and subbed you straight up my dude!! We been all over some Slab Crappie in Morgantown WV aera. Also some early Small mouth have been hitting some. My brother and I ran across just by a fluke, 3 different 60 to 70 yr old coal mine lakes last yr about 5 or 6 acres each. But.... they are all about 35ft deep @ the Dam wall. These 3 lakes probably haven't been fished In 20+ yrs. 🤯😎. Last season we both caught @ least 6 or 7 Smallies 7+lbs !! I don't B.S. about my Bass fishing brother, and on my Good Word, there's several State Record Smallmouth living in these lakes!!! And a 99.9% chance a State record Crappie also resides there. They are the Greenest/Clearest little lakes I have ever seen bro. And I've seen a few in my 50yrs. I will keep ya informed. Right about the 1st to mid May. Pre spawn time, we gonna bring in some double digit Smallmouth!! WV. State record S.M. is 9lb5oz and 25in. Crappie is 4lb and 19in. I promise you brother. I seen a couple Smallies last year that were 27/28in easy. The 7 pounders we caught were 23ish. And I had 1 one that would have ate the others we caught. I fought her for 15 or 20mins and she finally snapped me off. I was only using 8lb Triline XL Mono. Paps taking 35lb braid this yr. I truly believe that fish was 11 or 12 lbs. 27+in. It literally looked like 2 damn footballs long and thick !! Thing is there are several that size within these 3 lakes. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity. We are blessed to have the chance at maybe a couple state records 🙏 Keep up the Gr8 content brother!!
