Thanks! I watched a bunch of Monstaliner videos several months ago when deciding what to use to paint my Hijet mini truck, but I'm old and my brain doesn't work so I forgot most of the process details now that the three gallons of Monstaliner is here. This was a great refresher course.

I can't believe this excellent video doesn't have 20K likes. By far, the most informative I've watched in my 40 hours of research to choose the product and application method for my Tundra. Thank-you!

Really good product, this will help a lot of people who don’t feel confident enough to paint their own project & will also add a next level of protection! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I loved the pro tip of trimming the sharp edges off the rollers so they don't detach into the finish. I bought several extra 4" rollers and planned to change them often, because I'd heard that using a roller as the Monstliner starts to harden results in foam roller chunks that adversely impact the finish. I plan on installing Monstaliner as wet as possible. I prefer the less textured look and feel, and that should also prevent foam roller shedding.
@ontherocks_offthegrid Жыл бұрын
It definitely helps but you may still have to change out rollers regularly as the environment being more humid, for example, can make the liner harder faster so the rollers can get chunky. I did mine with 4 rollers for the base coat to get a super clean finish, but I’m in a very dry climate here.

I'll be painting a custom rig with WW2 OD Green and Super Genious camo with Desert Sand accents. I'm putting a Hughes OH-6 Cayuse/369A airframe in place of the cab and part of the bed of an M35A2 Deuce and a half. 😊

That is going to be so basass! Please post it to the monstaliner Facebook group when you work on it/finish it. Will be so cool to see it

How did you prep the plastic fender flares? Did you use adhesion promoter?
@ontherocks_offthegrid10 ай бұрын
as mine were already painted I prepped them just like the vehicle, however if you have raw plastic ones you need to hit them with a heavier grit 80 or 100 sandpaper and then clean with the product options in this video. I have successfully installed it on plastic flares before but its always going to be up in the air if it will take because you don't know how many times they have been treated with oil based cleaners/shine products etc. But if you scuff them well enough and clean as directed you should be fine. Many people have applied the product to plastic flares and parts of their rigs without issue. If you want more information you can get on the Monstaliner Masters FB group and ask the group and you'll likely get a lot of really good info on that specific install.

Have you tried to thin it so it comes out smoother? Or have you ever sprayed it?
@ontherocks_offthegrid Жыл бұрын
My application is the smoothest you can get the product. It’s a bedliner and by that standard is the smoothest on the market when installed the way I did it. It can be sprayed but I haven’t personally done a spray application yet, I have a truck I plan to spray sometime next year once I get some rusted out areas replaced

@@ontherocks_offthegrid thank you so much. Do you feel that killer beej is to light now that it’s on. Would you go darker if you could do it again?
@ontherocks_offthegrid2 ай бұрын
I love the killer beej color, it’s the color I’ve used on my last Jurassic Jeep as well. It’s also easier to color match decals to as well.

I don't have a garage. If I do this in my driveway starting early on a sunny day do I need to worry about evening moisture from dew or fog?
@ontherocks_offthegrid Жыл бұрын
As long as it is within favorable temps for the product and you have little wind you should be just fine. Make sure that the vehicle is wiped down one more time and completely dry before starting. You’ll want to get the s8 reducer to add to the liner when you step away (you put just a little in to cover the top of what’s in the bucket in a thin layer (this evaporates instead of the liner) you mix it in when you come back to refill your paint tray and put it in again when you step away. This will give you the full working time with the liner. This video was only the 2nd time I actually had a garage for one of my 6 projects I’ve done.

How durable is this for branches and shit off road? How thick does it end up?
@ontherocks_offthegrid Жыл бұрын
We have literally wiped bark from tree branches right off of it before. Can it be chipped and scratched? Yes, with enough force anything can be damaged. Is it easy to do? Nope

I used monster liner for the first time recently. It started hardening before I was finished which made it difficult to spray. Any suggestions? Thank you
@ontherocks_offthegrid8 ай бұрын
When working you can mix in sections so you don’t have a big pot of mixed material sitting, but you can continue to add to the liner for up to 12 hours. You should always mix a reducer in when spraying as well if you didn’t. I would suggest going to the FB group listed in the description and speaking with those who have experience spraying to get better information.

Hello would i have to use a adhesion promoter over my 4 runner limited flares or do i just scuff, wipe and roll?
@ontherocks_offthegrid Жыл бұрын
If they are painted you shouldn’t have an issue, same prep as the body. If they are plastic I would use an adhesion promoter and the primer they sell on their site as the plastics don’t always take due to the oils built up in them over years of cleaning products. But I’ve had success with them in the past

🤣 Promo-SM
@ontherocks_offthegrid Жыл бұрын
SM? Unsure what that means…I made it more specific because I’m in a large Facebook group of people for this product that share questions and give answers and wanted to share my tips and tricks to get a great result as I am one of very few there who have done multiple rigs with this product and probably the only one who has done graphic linework on more than one rig. I paid for my product, did all the work myself, made the video how I wanted to make it and as educational as possible. Company sent me a shirt in the box so I wore it for the video. If it feels like a promotional video made by the company than cool, I wanted it to seem as professionally done as possible. So that means I succeeded.
