I think you've under-estimated 2-3 levels of Sorc the same way as you did with the EK. Constitution proficiency when taken at level 1. Combine this with Draconic Bloodline for extra resists and HP, and the ability to cast things like Shield that other Cha-based classes don't have, and it's a pretty good deal for an up-front one level dip. Storm Sorc allows you to fly on a bonus action after casting a spell or using a scroll, substantially increasing your mobility in and out of combat (cast a Ritual out of combat for a free flight to the chest you can't figure out how to get to). This is especially great when combined with Fighter and Thief. Sorc points allow you to generate more spell slots for Shield or Smite. Things like Quicken, Subtle, and Twin Spell, are going to be useful regardless but Metamagic can also be used on scrolls, which can open a lot of doors in terms of what you select in your limited spell book.

Agree, and agree with most who rank classes by their multi-classing value/strength, that the Sorcerer Class is solidly in S tier. Look at Fextra, Dark Hero 2, and others' rankings.

While I agree with a D rating, there is one good use for a starting dip into sorcerer. They get CON save proficiency, the shield spell and count as a full caster. Works great with a melee/frontline cleric that still gets heavy armor from their subclass (like War) because it helps you keep up concentration on spirit guardians or crusaders mantle. Still D b/c of how niche this is but it’s working great for me on my War Cleric/Vengeance Paladin.

For honor mode I’d run 8 levels in swords bard (ranged slashing flourish is OP) and 4 in battlemaster/gloomstalker/assassin (take your pick). Outside of honor mode go swords bard 7/blade pact warlock 5 (since the extra attack stacks there and you can make all your spell and ranged attack rolls with charisma.)

There’s a few optimal archery Strats to run. Gloomstalker 5, assassin 3. 11 champion, war cleric 1. sword bard 10, fighter 2. sword bard 10, fighter 1, wizard 1. which is my favorite.

Monk multiclass is criminally underrated. It works so well as a one level dip for dexterity scaling weapons. Dexterity is way stronger than strength as a stat, so getting dex scaling versatile weapons or maces or hammers is soooo good. Going all the way to 4 also means you get a nice few ki points to spend on flurry of blows for a few nice bonus actions, and even once those are out, you still get a nice bonus action roudhouse kick. Monk 1-4 is a fantastic multiclass. At least B tier, but Id go as high as A tier.

If youre playing a weapon monk, take that a third and fourth level in fighter for battlemaster and a feat. Then you become the best melee crowd controller in the game with disarms, stuns, and topples. Im posting a video of this concept tomorrow actually!@@mgass1354

Heh, it's actually this one level dip I am using rn, more for flavor than anything else : a priestess (/paladin) of Eilistrae, which require a longsword a the lighter armor than you can afford. Sure, I hardly see how to turn this one dip into something as broken as tavern brawler monk / barb, but it open a lot of ok and good build with a lot more flavor.

"Dexterity is way stronger than Strength as a stat." Although it doesn't feel good to actually invest points in Strength, Strength *scaling* is just straight up better than Dexterity *scaling.* This is because you can drink a potion every day to get a flat 21 Strength easily, or a flat 27 Strength with the fancy potion. Every single time you switch from Strength scaling to Dexterity scaling you are never gaining stats vs the ideal, you're just gaining stats vs being too cheap on consumables. Every single melee character should be Strength scaling even if they're using Finesse weapons. Because of this, the 1 level monk dip isn't actually good. Even Tavern Brawler Monk is an 8 Str build. 16 Dex 15 Con 17 Wis. +1 Con TB, +2 Wis ASI, +1 Wis amulet, +2 Wis mirror. Toss him the Club of Hill Giant Strength and an elixir every here and there, he'll be fine.

I am glad you have seen the immense potential of eldritch knight, sir. My current setup I have planned is: Thor EK build Reverb gloves and boots (Gloves cause reverb when inflicting lightning damage) Sparkswall ring and shield Charge-bound warhammer The speedy light feet Concentrate on expeditious retreat EK 8/Wiz 4 or Warlock 4 for replenishing spell slots Four whopping feats total Warcaster, Alert, ASI's or whatever Open combat with bonus action dash to generate lightning charges and activate lightning aura with the shield. Run around beating things to death as a normal fighter, cause enormous stacks of reverb in an aoe +Movement speed from bonus action, bludgeoning and lightning damage are poorly resisted, shield, high AC, CC from simply inflicting damage, high initiative and surprise immunity, mfing action surge, fighting style for customization (can pick up dual wielder and style for another elemental damage weapon) ++ The build grows noticeably with each items you acquire because of how deeply it interacts with them, which feels very good in terms of character progression - No third attack but f it huge utility and immense flavor TLDR; Stack reverb and lightning items. The hammer isn't necessary because having lightning charges guarantees the reverb gloves should trigger - which is what we really really want Majority of items can be acuired by late act 1, with the last of all items can be acquired by early act 2 - so a large amount of the game to play with the completed build.

I'm running the same lvls, but with Arcane aquity and synergy items. Open combat with eldritch blast and bonus action melee for a power full melee that generates a power full spell. All with shield and mirror image

@@SteveRogers-k8n Very true, however I think honor switches off the third attack unless I am mistaken. However warlock levels are very appealing regardless. And hex for damage ramp and shoving is never ever ever going to be a bad thing. This demonstrates the incredible raw potential of EK. So many great item and class interactions. Do you want a fourth feat? Three attacks on tact? On honor if the third attack is off you could at least also get haste from tome 5 too

I'd argue Sorcerer should be much higher just based on your reasoning for Fighter/Rogue. Twin spell and quicken spell are both action economy breakers. Maybe they are slightly weaker in that context, but the utility of meta magic is very high and I personally never build a party without someone that has at least a 2 level dip into sorcerer. It's also worth noting, that dip provides an easy way to get constitution proficiency and fly as a bonus action. It's incredibly versatile.

Sorcerer is a great class but it needs more investment for more sorc points. It’s a very poor multiclass. The storm sorc for flying is a little niche, since it uses up your bonus action for that flight. If the class isn’t always using the bonus action then the flight could be alright, but you also have to cast a spell each turn for that flight, and seeing how this is the martial tier list, they might not have a ton of spell slots to make the flight available.

@@remortisgaming At level 7, a reclass into 1 sorc + 1 wiz + 5 life cleric, then sorc for the rest of the levels is very good. Everyone is a full caster, so you will get your higher tier spell slots and wizard lets you actually learn spells for those. Staff of mystra's blessing for the empowered bless, since that's still a strong option. With whispering promise and hellrider gloves/reviving hands, your cleric can sit indefinitely in sanctuary to ensure it's all safe and free and heal, apply (the regular level, not mystra's) bless, bladeturn, and twin haste allies in a single turn with mass healing word + twinned haste - and it can do this at level 8 overall because wizard can learn haste from a scroll and you already have 3 sorc points then. Eventually, this can also cast globe of invulnerability with that 6th level slot. Because it sits in sanctuary, it can also apply warding bond with remarkable safety to effectively double the HP on a barb or whatever. No need for spell attack rolls, so the casting stats aren't even important to it. It's incredible pure support.

Once you enable higher levels with a mod, a moon druid with beast master gets really powerful. You can summon your woodland creature and beast before using your wild shape. Going 8 into moon druid and 12 into beastmaster is pretty strong.

My Lae'zel on this current run is: 6 Hunter Ranger 3 Champion Fighter 3 Swords Bard It gives some good Concentration utility, 3 Fighting Styles, Extra Attack, and a butt-ton of Proficincies/Expertises. Pretty good so far.

Problem with ranger is that 11 ranger unlocks volley, and volley is so ridiculously strong that it dominates all other options on the class. An effective 15 attacks/turn is not at all unreasonable. It's kind of a weak class, right up until one ability makes it probably the best martial. Gloomstalker/assassin/2 fighter is the only really competitive build involving ranger, I think.

Fighter 9 rogue 3 is the only way I could make a half decent two weapon fighter build for Jahira. Stacking + bonus dmg items on everything to make the most of the two bonus attacks.

Ngl you can make any spell caster a half decent two weapon fighter with the dual wielder fear, a level 1 dip in fighter for two weapon fighting, and the gloves of dex or giant strength potions. Since most spell casters don’t really have good uses for their bonus action, an off hand attack that does as much damage as it normally would on a normal martial until late game is pretty good. And then once ur in late game you can just drop fighter and go dual staffs, or keep fighter and have a good bonus action that doesn’t use quickened spell or ilithid powers.

26:31 I think for spellcaster rogue is weaker, simply because these are not level one dips. For action surge you need 2 level, for rogue 3 level. So you lose level 6 slots even, sometimes level 5 slots. One level fighter is still maybe S tier is because you get armor proficiency(though imo at that point take tempest cleric)

Iirc in tabletop, Fighter dip is sometimes favored because of multiclass stat requirements (which don't apply in BG3). So Cleric is stonk but not everyone can afford 13 Wis, whereas almost anyone takes 13 Dex (or Str). Con saves that Fighter starts with aren't to be underestimated either.

The funny build I came up with is 7 monk/3 rougue/2 druid. Pick thief for extra bonus action, 2 druid for spore druid and take stone that makes everyone weaker to psychic damage. Once you'll get to act 3, you will smash everything on your way (somewhere around 30 damage per punch) and 40-80 damage per flurry of blows

Monk as a 1 level dip allows you to scale dex to melee weapons. It's a niche setup, but it is really powerful with a dex fighter/sword bard.

Knowledge cleric is a really good dip too. 2 levels gets you so many skills, including 2 skills at expertise and what amounts to the githyanki racial. Layer on standard goodies like bless, guidance and shield proficiency and it becomes a really good dip for a skill monkey/support character.

Honestly monk is at least a B probably an A tier. To start with you get unarmed strike as bonus action, unarmored defence (wisdom based), flurry of blows, unarmored movement and every weapon exept heavy can scale off dex. At lvl 3-4 you get a few ki points and a multitude of options to use them (flurry/unarmed strike, patient defence, step of the wind, deflect missiles). Depending on the subclass you can have upgraded flurry of blows or more utility options for ki points (monk spells are the only ones that work with barbarian rage). Monks get slow fall (half fall dmg) alongside lvl 4 feat. When we go higher monks aside from getting extra attack also get stunning strike, at lvl 6 every monk gets something unique and has improved unarmored movement. Amazing with barbarians, clerics, rangers, fighters, rogues and surely other hidden gems.

A build I’ve been doing is Fighter war cleric and wizard. Not using the spells that much for cleric or wizard but level 6 battle master fighter with 1 war cleric and 5 abjuration wizard is kinda nuts plus taking them that order is pretty strong as well. If you have a sorcerer on your team twin spell haste you, you can get off 6 attacks round 1 and 5 attacks round 2,3,and 4. All this with arcane ward reducing your damage each time you get hit and spell slots to cast shield.

Also level 1 war cleric gives us access to healing word for support and shield of faith for a concentration spell to give 2 ac to yourself or a squishy ally. That combined with fighters con proficiency and war caster feat at level 6 ( just before you take war cleric) you’ll never lose concentration and be a front liner

only change i would make is bard S tier just because its damage increases at level 5 are insane. 4 shots damage boosted by bardic die damage or being able to force spells to hit as a reaction multiple times per short rest are things that can apply to every "ranged" build. and even in a melee build getting the bardic dice attacks along side superiority die can lead to a tanky controlling striker with low gear investment. just one helmet from act 2 gives you access to control spells, CC melee attacks, and free AC boosts when needed.

I always have 2-3 characters with a thief rogue dip in my runs, it's just so good having another bonus action cleric 2, warlock 2-3, fighter 2-3, and ranger 3 are very common picks for me too and I grab spore druid on someone for the amazing Sporekeeper Armor as well

You are really missing out a land Druid/Paladin, Land Druid/Sword Bard or Land Druid/Ranger. Flame Blade scales with Charisma or Wisdom, and smites with a 3d6 weapon is absurdly strong. Level 3 gets you misty step and level 5 gets you haste. Shillelagh when you don’t want to waste a spell slot. Hold a staff thats good out of combat. Searing smite is burn baby burn disco inferno. And Hunter Horde Breaker 3 is absurdly strong. That’s 2 additional attacks, 3 with TWF.

rangers , and to a lesser extent druid, are easily one of the best multiclass options due to web at will from spider form druid and 3 level beast master ranger with a spider companion. Druid is obviously a bit worse since it costs you a wild shape and your action, but ranger costs you no action economy, and no resources to cast web at will, not to mention everything else they provide. Ranger is easily up there with the best, and I would argue is the single best 3/4/5 level multiclass dip, although warlock does give it a run for it's money imo

Did you factor in unarmored defense when tiering Monk? It's not as good as UD from Barbarian, but that combined with being able to make an attack as a bonus action is very strong for builds with good Dex and Wisdom. I think Monk should be B-tier with but behind Barbarian. Ex: 5x lvls in Ranger, 3x in Thief, and 4x in Monk is pretty fun and powerful (4 attacks / round, every round... high natural AC, extra movement...)

I think wizard should be higher, but I might be thinking more in terms of utility than raw power. I struggle not to put 4 levels of abjuration on any class that tails off after level 8 - everyone benefits from 4 free dodges and 2 misty steps per long rest, and classes with offbeat spellbooks like druid and bard can scribe anything they want as well.

Good tier list generally, but imo wrong about sorcerer, you get so much stuff already at lv 1, con proficiency is amazing, AC boost or fly bonus action, shield spell (already at level 1, much sooner than EK fighter in the S tier), sorc points are extremely useful too. Granted, more of a dip for other casters, and I understand what you mean, most classes that dip sorc want an even spread or rather be a sorcerer with a few points into something else. But I would still put it in A or B tier, definitely not the worst multiclass

I really enjoyed Paladin 7/Warlock 5 to get pack weapon and using level 4 warlock slots for extra smites. But I respec'd to max charisma so pact weapon would scale off charisma and lowered my strength. With haste and not in honour mode you hit 6 times a round, with 6 smites if you want it.

@@attrition0i personally flipped it for 7 paladin and 5 warlock since oath of the ancients aura improvement is insanely good for survival but that’s what makes this multiclass so fun you have so much to build around

No do not mix 2 melee classes. The extra attack from fighter/paladin do not stack. Go warlock pact of the blade if you must multiclass your paladin. The only reason you would do fighter is for battle master maneuvers, but usually your melee strikes are used for smites. Warlock is the best for paladin.

So on my honor mode playthough ive notices that my spells spell save is scaling with the stat of the save now. For example black tentacles is a str save for the enemies. But when i go to check what they have to roll it is using strength not charisma on my warlock to talculate the difficulty class save. Is this indltended or did something break? I've tried googling around but bg3 forms are a hodge podge of 6 years of patches and content. My understanding is it should have a base dc of 8 then +5 from my 20 charisma. And 3 from proficiency at level 8. But its holder person is just giving me the 8 base and 3 proficiency as I have 10 in wis. But is this right? I know for a fact it didnt used to scale this way.

Hey! I've been watching a fee of your videos recently and they are awesome. One thing I've noticed though that really throws me off. When you are mid explanation and you stumble on a word and then you just roast yourself out of no where. It really breaks the flow of information. I dont understand wht Wizard is D. Like you know that it's an amazing multiclass class. Abjuration Wizard is stupid strong, and with Helmet of Arcane Acuity, you dont need that much Intelligent 14 is enough. Since you are pairing with character that can hit multiple times, your spell DC will still be better than any caster.

I pretty much agree with your list, with just a couple things moved around. I would move Bard down to B as you really want investment to 6 (EA + recharge on Short rest) but you do get Song of Rest at 2 which I think is almost mandatory for the party. I would probably move Cleric up as it conveys all its bonuses when multiclassed into. Given several builds want deep investment (hunter ranger, Druid, Fighter etc) I see a lot of value in the 1 level cleric dip for heavy armor if nothing else. I think you are overvaluing warlock. The spell slots come at the cost of other spell slot progression and the CHA bonus is weaker than any STR build (save on the Buld. Greatsword) as Elixirs exist. If this were to go to 5 levels I think there would be a different discussion, but the darkness + devil's sight combo doesn't deserve S imo.

Melee struggles in this game. It isn’t more damage than ranged and is vulnerable to all kinds of environment stuff. And going 2h weapon costs you having a shield so 2h builds have lower AC than ranged. Only open hand monk felt relevant, but my open hand monk ended up CCed for the elder brain dragon fight while my ranged were under the invulnerability and haste bubble.

I just don't understand wtf is that video. The strongest melee multiclass in game is actually open-hand monk/rogue (+ fighter or cleric/sorcerer). warlock is only viable on non-HM now as it get too many nerf on HM.

Warlock on honor mode with them yanking it's primary advantage? Top tier? I don't think so. Then again I don't much care for honor mode anyway. It's like they said "Let's take all the annoying things that video games do to artificially increase difficulty and throw them all together". I still might go for it if it were not for the no save ability. Sorry guys even the most reliable game is going to crash on occasion, especially if you mod or overclock. Not ever going to trust a game that all of your progress relies on 100% reliability from lines of code. That just ain't gonna happen. Nuking warlock was just insult added to injury.

What’s wrong with warlocks ? Have you seen what a blaster build can do ? Plus a lockadin with darkness and devils sight is still one of the best builds in the game so I’m not sure what your gripe is ?

@@ljthompson3011 They fixed the unintended attack stacking from pact of the blade and martial classes, but that’s all they did that I can think of off the top of my head. You also still have a save in honor mode, can save as often as you like, and it isn’t like you lose it on a game over. All you lose is the chance to earn the golden dice in that run when it changes you to custom difficulty. Barring some exceedingly rare freak file corruption incident (which has been known to happen on the Xbox version when it first came out) where having multiple saves might save you from having to start over completely, all it is doing in reality is preventing you from save scumming dialogue outcomes and dice rolls because it auto saves more often and doesn’t duplicate campaigns. Even then, it can still be cheesed with cloud saves for example. Luckily, it’s an optional challenge mode that you don’t have to partake in, and they left the fun unintended bugs like extra attack stacking and haste triggering extra attack multiple times in explorer, balanced, and tactician difficulty because they knew the player base enjoyed having the option to do so, even if it is a bit stronger than originally intended.

It’s really all they need just crit stack gear and your g2g. But the gripe with honor mode I understand completely. You did leave out legendary actions on bosses tho which is the main reason I play on honor mode . Other than that I agree completely
