This dude is on point. Great video. I picked up the game the other day and avoided all spoilers and waited until I found a weapon I liked myself. Originally I went full sword and board and 2H axe, but once I picked up the musket I really enjoyed it so this is actually the first New World video I've watched and it's hugely beneficial to understanding the class. In this video you mention Vorpal as your second choice because of a "5%" Bonus to headshot damage, Vorpal actually scales with the item level of the item that's crafted. I crafted a high end steel musket that had a 9.7% Damage increase on headshot with Vorpal. Meaning higher end muskets may even have a higher percentage. this in my opinion makes vorpal the best possible perk to use with the musket if you're stacking headshot passives and the onyx passives. Hey, that moonstone gem is when you are below 30% health not your opponent which works in those clutch moments but I would be thinking about playing life below 30%health, not attacking. The Emerald gives damage against low health targets. New world calls opponents "targets" and you "player".

@@tonetality Not sure if you meant to put Moonstone in there though as that gives you extra damage if YOU(player) is below 30% health. Emerald however gives you extra dmg against targets that are below 30% health. Albeit a smaller damage bonus than what oyu would get from moonstone, but atleast you don't have to bleed for that bonus, only your enemies :D

Great weapon when you know how to snipe :). I had a ton of fun sniping raids when they were doing corrupted. But yeah, you need a 17+ skills to really enjoy your power.

Great video, but just wanted to mention that another extremely viable build is rushing the 100% heal ability on the trap. With a rapier, you can hit an easy parry, swap to musket to place a trap, then switch back to rapier to get 100% lifesteal on the target for 3 second whilst having a full combo. In a pvp scenario, putting down the trap in front of you and letting the enemy see you do it means you can usually just run circles around the trap and kit the enemy forever since they're too scared to run straight at you, I've been testing out running flurry instead of fleche since rolling already gives so much mobility and using the Leeching Flurry weapon bonus to increase the healing aswell. Just trapping someone and hitting flurry on them can easily heal over 4000+ hp if you follow it up with an evade auto. Main issue I have with power shot is that it competes way too much with the powder burn as a good opener since powder burn does more damage and has a juicy +12% bonus damage afterwards aswell, so I've been running the sticky bomb to just slow opponents for mobility, but might give it a try. Overall, Headshot dependent abilities feel really weak to me due to how hitboxes in this game seem to be incredibly unforgiving on both PvP and PvE (and also because literally everyone's head bobs like crazy with their abilities and mobs do a whole gymnastics routine when charging up their attacks)

Liked, Subbed and clicked bell. I Use Spear and Musket but am mostly a PvEr atm but head shots are amazing, the burn after 30% is awesome. I have no gems and still working on crafting my gear so im excited once i get to Max points BUT I am kinda sad that Ill have to go INT after investing in Dex so far, but I'm only lvl 34 so maybe It wont be that bad of a transition, but you think its worth ? Shooter's Stance doesn't actually keep you locked into place, you can press the skill again to get out of it or roll to start moving. Also I do suggest picking up the 5 shot passive for it if you're gonna be using it since it acts as 'stocks' for the skill. It won't go on cooldown until you've knelt down and shot all 5 shot.

I use medium armour with spear/musket and use the musket in a quickdraw fashion when I have a little distance between me and my attacker. Using vault kick, javelin and sweep allows me to throw Traps onto people or load a Powder burn or even get a quick double shot in using Tactical Reload. People don't expect the melee distance musket.

I've been playing nothing but rapier frost gauntlet since release, on 150 ping from middle east. the projectiles are so messy and janky and the projectile travel made me regret the time investment and all the gear i deleted to focus on that build. up until earlier today i tried the musket and can't believe how satisfying hit-scan is and now i'm fully swapping to either musket + rapier/spear/hatchet

Man I absolutely love your videos! Can you revise the bow/spear build again (just curious what more you have to say on it)? I started with that build, but I ended up doing bow/musket (its very non meta and unorthodox i know) and through fiddling with stuff and devising my own strats its so viable, I pulled off one 1v3 and one 1v4 so far, way too satisfying. Great video! One thing I would have liked more info on: How does switching main stat from Dex to Int influence the rest of the build that ISN'T the inital Powder Burn Headshot? How much of a Nerf does the Rapier take? Worth considering the Gem that scales of INT to do elemental damage? What I would love about going INT: You suddenly have Ice Gauntlet and Fire Staff as secondaries for Rapier or Musket as an option... Makes it even more flexible and fun during leveling and reasonably easy to switch between at end game! - Again, thanks for the vid, insta-sub!

@@tonetality it's a good subject for a video. I read somewhere primary stat scaling is 0.9 and secondary 0.65. So I guess that means dex based musket gets around 27.78% more dmg from dex stat than int if I calculated correctly fast xD 200 dex for musket = 200 dex *0.9 = 180 dmg. 200 int for musket (secondary stat) = 200 int * 0.65 = 130dmg 1 - (130/180) = approx 27.78% more BONUS dmg with primary stat vs secondary. :)

Hey you definitely earned a sub here. I'm just wondering this - how do you adjust or use this build in a dungeon for example? I have been kind of using a very similar build just for leveling and stumbled upon your vid when I was looking for more details regarding gems/stats etc that would be best. This is all fine for pvp/leveling content however, if I want to go into a dungeon as a Damage dealer what should i do? The build is mostly single target damage :/

So one big change i would offer... is switch power shot to stopping power. all the synergy you get to hitting people with debuffs on them and that is also fantastic for chasing people, running from them, or creating distance. and burn shot plus normal shots is really your bread and butter for damage so power shot isnt really needed.

I use musket and rapier but I also use firestaff so the int is important. But, try everything and slow down the leveling and just fight, respec and learn.

hey man i'm 43 right now and musket is meta shredding everyone in light armor ! personaly i play it on medium armor and get the edge on other musket players with the faction items (head chest heavy) + medium boots and gloves + light panths that put 22.9 ... i keep always light items and medium chest on me and change to light sometimes and more in 1v1 situations light is still the best. in war défenses i prefer to be in medium, in war escarmouche offense light can carry ! and the weapon swap work on medium to be more agile and the fast reload is even better on medium and the dodge haste also feel better and the rapier make up for the mobility ! other light armor kitters cant outrun without a bow or double axe speed buffs ! ( sorry for my broken english)

Greater Accuracy doesn’t mean you hip fire when close, it means you can hip fire when far. It’s a low key speed buff because you no longer have to aim down sights. I might try it.

You lose all the bonuses of aim down sights though. Maybe better if you go more a trapper route than sniper route

If you play musket I highly suggest having a mouse with a sniper button that cuts your DPI. You'll land more headshots.

Your right for powder burn and Int vs dex. They both do the exact same damage but that 30 percent for the next perk is clutch

ok so this is goign to be SUPER specific but it makes a difference so here I go...lol at 22:51 mark your in Rapier, U roll, evade, then roll again while switching to musket and KEEP the speed boost from the talent tree of Evade Move. It doesnt seem to be working anymore i think because im doing the animations and timing right of switching weapons and rolling but i still get a slow down animation after using Evade, Roll, Switch weapons. Animation happens ONLY when i use that combo. So im not sure whats going on... IN ur video, U kept the momentum after the evade, roll, switch. But I cant seem to get it. Thoughts?

I'm more of a life-skill focused lass but got'a have some'n to nuke down mobs for some mats. but I also do enjoy casting-class.
