The older guy who said he used to do it when he was younger probably wasn't lying. Back in the day mates & I used to run walls and rooftops, pulling ourselves up and jumping gaps. Wasn't really any technique or names of the moves but it was just a way to get out and explore. Wouldn't look back and call it parkour necessarily but if you fuck around on estates there's similarities, this was before Jump London etc.
@robertr3153 жыл бұрын
He could have also been talking about jumping from the poles into the water
@carolecollins8533 жыл бұрын
Yep. My sons did similar. I think when you live on a London Estate, jumping about on walls, roofs etc is pretty tempting. They scared the life out of me!
@neaituppi73063 жыл бұрын
I used to run a line through the boulders on the beach, when I was a kid in the seventies. I recently moved back to an ocean side town and started doing it again. Or I would run from kids that were chasing me by jumping over and under whatever, and no one could catch me. We didn't call it free running or parkour, but it was the same type of thing. Just like the stuff Jackie Chan would do, I don't feel it never existed in any form before David Belle.
@julianmorris9951 Жыл бұрын
Yeah as a kid in the 70s we were always doing sketchy stuff, walking the ridge on the church roof running across sewerage pipes with the local river in flood 😊 this is why I watch this stuff, most of it is of course more extreme and I think that guy was just saying he did stuff like that, kids need to get from the indoor games and start climbing up stuff, these guys hopefully inspire them 👌🏻

ANY sport lends itself to competition and trash talk, but I always appreciate how supportive Storror are of each other. The first bail on this video; followed by a round of "nice commitment" as fellow athletes who are all doing something fucking scary always! It's something that always makes me love this team, because what they're attempting (in any week) is never easy or kind or polite, but that's how they still treat each other. SOLID role models in the absolute best way! A few weeks ago Drew openly makes fun of Calum for autographing a child's face!!! But THAT's why it's absolutely perfect, from week to week, how lovely and earnest and kind this team is!

~10 years ago I joined a gym, and my dad said "nice mate I used to work out at your age too". I had never heard of that, and to me he was just a normal guy who did physical labor for work and then chilled around at home and maybe jogged a few times a week. I asked him to come with me so he could show me the ropes, but he was busy with something back then. so, I went solo, and didn't ask him again for a long time. I actually enjoyed training alone, and it became a habit right away. then I hit a 100 kg bench press after ~1 year of training and I told my dad about it. he was excited and said he wanted to come to the gym with me for once. so, we went, warmed up and started with bench press (of course). I could see he had definitely lifted before. decent technique, and his warmups moved well. we went from the empty bar up to 80 kg, and he did it for a few reps and said "I think that's it for me mate"... I egged him on and said "come on get that hundo! I'll spot ya bruh". well, I managed to convince him to try, and lo and behold, the old bastard pressed 100 kg to equal my best, and it still looked like he had a little left in the tank!! then he says he used to have a 190 kg bench press but he stopped training after a back injury before I was even born. he never talked about it, never looked like he lifted, but he was somehow still a 100+ kg bench presser after no gym training for ~20 years. so u never know if they're for real when some geezer comes up to u and says "yea I used to do that when I was a kid m8". my dad still doesn't train in the gym, because he considers it too risky for the rewards, but he does actively jog and do some basic bodyweight stuff to stay active. I think he can still hit that 100 kg bench at almost 60 years old without training lol.

Been subbed, joined when I subbed, and made my fifth purchase yesterday. Getting the storror sport gear!! Big up to Benj for nailing that water challenge line. That was sick!

That's some leap distance you boys got there. Wish I had places to do this sort of stuff near me. Mostly just hiking spots here sadly. Did light freerunning like 5-6 years ago but nothing like you guys do. Always fun to watch.
