Time for Storror to design their own parkour park 👀👀 Also we love seeing Sacha training again!! So proud of him for getting back on the horse, it's not easy when you've been out of the game for a while
@ftfw22522 жыл бұрын
in all honesty, they probably could. buy a plot of land (good luck lol), work with contractors, learn about landscaping/architecture/etc. downside is the maintenance cost with no real intrinsic monetary value to support it. they have the fandom to tease the idea and it'll do great as a public service, so big ups for more pk community/culture.
@Si74l0rd2 жыл бұрын
I'm hoping that the game will give people in general, and contractors specifically, a better idea for designing parkour sandboxes. The problem is all too often that the contractors the council will use, are not the one's you'd like them to use! At the bare minimum they should have someone with a few years experience in the sport consult during the design phase, and pay great attention to the material specifications too. Making a wall out of the wrong materials is almost as bad as placing it poorly. But those aren't really a consideration for the contractors. They get paid to build a park, and they don't get a bonus for it being actually good for parkour. They're just construction companies exploiting what they see as a new niche in the market. If the Storror game contains a build your own level sandbox mode, it would be a useful design tool for anyone looking to build a park that really flows, for users of all experience levels.
@IDVEX2 жыл бұрын
@@ftfw2252 something like braille would be cool too get a warehouse or build one like it and then put their park inside and add something to gain money for the place.
@ftfw22522 жыл бұрын
@@Si74l0rd Agreed. Materials are just as important. Which comes back to Storror needing to fund the materials, otherwise a contractor would go with cheap alternatives. Brick is nice, but expensive.
@Si74l0rd2 жыл бұрын
@@ftfw2252 Yeah, those nice grippy British bricks lol. Mildly textured concrete would be ok as long as they know what they're doing, but just building some box forms and filling them is the contractor way unless you keep them on a short leash. It's one of those catch 22 situations, the parks need to be designed by the athletes that will use them, but without an income stream freerunners can't get seed money to start a specialist construction company, and existing companies aren't usually inclined to listen to outsiders. Even with the income Storror generate, which outstrips anyone not sponsored, buying the equipment is prohibitively expensive and so is all the paperwork and insurance, and backhanders to get councils to use your company once they've finished public consultation.

Drew really is getting better and better! Awesome video fellas, good points raised too. We had the same problem with skateparks, without a committee of local skaters to advise the council on something worth building, rather than just dumping tonnes of concrete in random places. Councils need to seek advice from the community, but also from athletes that practice the sport, in order to use the money to best advantage. My local skatepark when I was a kid was Stockwell skate park, in South London, and it's an old seventies bowl and transition park, but with the formation of the skatepark association, the council took advice on board when it came time to tart it up a little. It's wasted money if no-one can use a space effectively, and then that puts everyone back skating or parkour-ing their favourite street spots again. Edit: Benj at 4:55 is what would happen if I tried any sort of flip!
@realgoodmind2 жыл бұрын
This exactly. Local towns building the skate parks and bike parks always turned out horrible, with exception of course. The smart ones will get a real park manufacturing company to do the work and design but there are some truly awful ones around.
@Si74l0rd2 жыл бұрын
@@realgoodmind The problem is that too often the white listed contractors are useless, for all their claims of being specialty installers. Two of the parkour parks in this video are by an accredited company, who the council would happily use, what we need is a company that's either owned and operated by freerunners, or one that has them consulting. The phone call Callum received will hopefully bear fruit for wherever it was, at least they're talking to the right people. But without a vision for the space the contractor turns up with timber for building forms, railings and concrete, then they don't seem to know what to do. It would be interesting to see whether the same individual designed both parks in this video, as one was very bad, but the other was half decent. Or whether it's just down to the project manager for each project and so total pot luck as to what you get. I'm hoping once the Storror game is available retail, these companies might get an idea of what works a little more, since the lads seem to be going for a greater degree of realism than the Tony Hawk games. Which are fun, but way OTT in terms of what's actually possible.
@incredible55872 жыл бұрын
yes i agrees and i think a lot of athletes would be more than willing to donate some time and help for free. at least that would get them in the right direction. they put people in charge that have only watched videos. i ride park so i know what you are saying.

HELL YEAH SASHA! Sasha is always an inspiration and I love seeing him get back out there. I only have one lung and still have cancer and sometimes I just don’t feel like trying… I went riding my onewheel and took my dog to the park and I feel like absolute shit with a capital SHIT. I went from wondering why I even bother when I feel so awful after small adventures to wanting to get back out there again tomorrow. Thanks to Sasha and all of you guys. Once again, seeing Sasha out there having fun and putting his injuries behind him is just awesome… it takes a TON of mental willpower to not push too hard too soon and make things worse, and to actually try when you don’t want to… to not be ashamed to start from the bottom again. It’s hard. Honestly, I understand. I used to be very athletic and super into Parkour and now I can barely run to my mailbox without oxygen and I once collapsed in Walmart because the milk was too far in the back. Haha Starting over and knowing I’ll never be the same has been absolutely shattering for me, but seeing the Storror crew have fun, seeing Sasha and the others keep going after setbacks really does make a difference. Thank you guys! If you ever come to Florida, I’d be happy to recommend some cool places. I can’t enjoy them myself anymore but I know you’d like them.
