I think some info that alot of people are unaware of is when G sync is on, and you're getting more frames than you're monitors refresh rate, input latency is higher. You're capping frames with g sync on so this issue doesn't apply.

The reason locking your frame rate to just under your max frame rate is it stops the GUP from producing frames way over your max, which then will drop lower than your max in high intensity game play, making it a wider range of highs and lows, causing input lag. When you limit it, you get less variance, meaning less input lag. On a side note, instead of using the game's frame limit, using RTSS or even NVidia control panel's one will usually net better results, as most in game ones are notoriously bad in real world usage.

that's not exactly true because it changes A LOT from game to game, some have a really good in game frame limiter and others have shit one so in those cases rtss or nvidia control panel may perform better, but not all games

though its true that both RTTS and NCP's frame limiter has significantly better frame times they also both add about 3-4ms of total system latency. Unless youre running like 240+ fps at all times. So yea most game frame limiters like Cods are dogshit but they also always have the best latency so you should in most cases still use game frame caps in fps games. For solo player games RTSS will always be superior

@@Calzone_J Just FYI cause I also have the 4060... I have an i5 14400F, 32gb of RAM, and an XG32WCS (2560x1440). Before, the best I could come up with was 90-130fps. I think I followed just about everything in this video, and now for the most part it never really dips below 141fps and feels WAY better. I'll have to use unlimited fps and see where it actually maxes out, but so far I really like how it feels limited like he recommends in the video.

4:00 That is just for VRR/G-SYNC displays. V-sync has traditionally added input latency, and still does 99% of the time in games. Mw3 and beyond have drastically reduced V-sync latency and input lag due to optimizations (Latency and lag dropped considerably between wz2 and wz3 if anyone noticed). If the FPS doesn't exceed the monitor refresh rate, or is 'limited' through menu settings, input latency will be the same as V-sync on. Lowest latency is ultimately V-sync off and VRR off. Smoothest fps/frame timings/best picture quality is V-sync on, VRR on. VRR adds latency, but immensely improves visibility and eliminates micro stuttering or 'judder'. Most people never turn VRR or G-SYNC off. Frame rate limiters ultimately only prevent perceived 'spikes' in input lag when fps drop. In that instance, the FPS never climb in first place, so input is always higher and therefore won't 'spike'.

@Duc.3D I would try running a couple matches with g sync off (fixed refresh rate) and then close the game. Open NVIDIA control panel and turn on g-sync, open up the game again and run a couple with it on. More than likely you're prolly going to notice the difference in a bit higher input delay with g-sync on. Hope that helps.

For your comment about DLSS and input lag, this only applies to Frame Generation. Even if DLSS is providing a minimal boost to your framerate it does not increase input lag. Testing has shown this and hell you can press Alt+R with Nvidia overlay and look yourself. You can even get lower overall latency at the same framerates due to overhead. With frame generation however, my latency increased by 8-10ms.

currently the Nvidia 566.03 driver can cause issues for users of Corsair Icue software or Bluestacks. thanks for the video. it is very hard to spend those 30 min when you want to get started in game but absolutely worth it.

Was wondering why my desktop PC was working fine, but once I tried my laptop, icue was all sorts of messed up. Thankfully, my mouse button layout that I have for the mouse works even if I had icue closed, so I played with it closed (when icue was opened, I couldn't use my mouse buttons). If you have a 7900x3d or 7950x3d DONOT USE ANYTHING OTHER THEN BALANCED POWER PLAN, And make sure xbox game bar is turned on. This is what shifts the game to the x3d v cache in case anyone missed this in the video. Super important

I found the same thing, false made my cpu bound pc run worse. What I did was changed that back to true then put on fidelityfx cas for upscaling and turned up my render resolution from 1080 to 1440p and it’s relieved the stress on the cpu. My 3060 is handling it fine

DLSS doesn't ''create'' frames, that is frame generation, DLSS takes ''real'' frames from a lower resolution and uses the ''computer learning'' to sharpen the image back up to your resolution, NOT ''CREATE'' FRAMES. That is why it has very little added latency that is basically dealt with when you have reflex enabled, FSR is different as it is software based so uses the ''GPU'' and DLSS is hardware based so doesnt use the main ''GPU'' but uses the RT cores and Tensor cores instead, so no it doesn't really add much latency. Also DLAA is ''native'' it is just using the ''computer learning'' to sharpen native instead of upscaling, Im sorry dude but with DLSS/DLAA you dont have a clue, most of what you say does apply to FSR though although it is getting better.

@@deanwilson9317 Nvidia is updating their app (nvidia app is currently in beta) , it is stripping out all the irrelevant setting that these youtubers change in the control panel that have no effect on games. Reflex already takes care of the fps capping with gsync (you don't have limit 3-4 fps below refresh rate). Proper gsync setup for nvidia cards is 1. gsync ON (in cp) - for both windowed and fullscreen 2. nvidia low latentcy ULTRA (in cp) 3. vsync ON (in cp) 4. Reflex ON (in game menu, for games with support) 5. vysnc OFF (in game menu) 6. ALL fps caps ( including rtss, afterburner, control panel, in game fps limiter) set to DISABLED or 0 He is just regurgitating all the misinformation that other youtubers say without any proper research (he even said at one point i don't know what any of this does)

Love these videos you make! Great work! I have a i9 13900k and a 4090. After I changed all the config files, and I didn't realize I had that resizeable bar setting set to false and I'm gpu bound. I changed that to true and changed nvidia reflex low latency from on+boost to just on. My fps has sky rocketed. W vid! Appreciate the hard work!

Lower FPS cap vs HZ is to prevent tearing which v sync is normaly used for. since we remove it we kinda gotta do something about it. That said with Gsync and freesync monitors idk if its still matters. These tech were made to prevent tearing without v sync. At any rate limiting your frame to whatever you can display seems like a reasonable thing to do.

In order for the frame cap to take effect with using 3 less frames you need to be running gsync and vsync in combination, and it doesnt help with screen hitching or stutter or lag. just screen tearing. that being said its better to just cap @ your monitor refresh or no cap at all.

Monitor Coefficient is about your W to L ratio of your monitor so anyone who's on an ultrawide like 3440x1440 should absolutely change it from 1.33. You would just divide 3440 by 1440, so the coefficient would be 2.39.

There is a Benchmark test within the settings that simulates some multiplayer action and gives you pretty good data in order to test whether CPU or GPU bound.

For the "Limit Blood Effects" wouldn't you want 2000 milliseconds between effects instead of 1 for more time in between each effect? Other than that great video thank ya👊

One thing. DLSS upscaling on its own won't give you more input latency but DLSS Frame Generation will since it uses generated frames to predict where it thinks the pixels are going. That is an entirely different option that needs to be enabled with DLSS 3/40 series Nvidia cards.

Gamebar is required, if you like to use HDR. Well if you want the to hotkey it. Windows key + alt + B. Which wont work if gamebar isn't installed. Thats why I have it installed.
