Is there a diff between snowboarding helmets & alpine helmets (hiking up icy trails filled with boulders) ?

Hi Carlos. There is indeed - they usually require different certifications. Most snowboard helmets are not alpine certified. The Salomon MTN Lab is dual certified (actually triple certified... for biking too). But you wouldn't be getting MIPS. We actually wrote an article on best helmets which includes the MTN Lab. www.snowboardingdays.com/best-snowboard-helmets/ Hope that helps!

Tried this exact model on along with a few others in my local shop and ended up not buying any of these. What's up with all the premium helmet makers moving away from the traditional skate style and making helmets that sit super high on the head making you look like a mushroom? Ill stick to my old smith gage for now I guess

Sorry to hear that! We've had great experiences with the Vantage and the Method this season, as well as the Anon Prime. I haven't found this to fit like a mushroom... (see 04:11, am I shroomy?) Did you try the contour fit?

@@snowboardingdays With earpads on the helmet still looks decent but once you take them off (which I always do) the mushroom look kicks in 😁 Tried both fits and some other brands too, my last but bright hope are the Sandbox buckets, once I can get my hands on one 🤙

@@SimpleSouls ah right, I understand. Wonder whether the new tech has led to some changes in design. Sandbox are a good brand - we tested the classic 2.0 MIPS and liked it 👌 Can’t comment on its mushroom-ness though as we didn’t remove the ear pads.
