Ultimate Radius = Ultimate Cool - Big Block 55 Chevy Gasser 4 Door To 2 Door Conversion

As most of you know, I build this 55 Chevy a few years ago on the Channel. It started off life as a rusty, roller 4 door sedan. Over the winter I performed a 2 door conversion, dropped in a big block, sourced a fiberglass flip front end ect. I gotta say I was very happy with the entire car, except for the rear radius. I went very conservative on the arch as we have strict rules surrounding wheel/tire fitment.
Well 2 years later, I wasn't driving the car as much as I once was. After sitting back and looking at the car I decided it was due to the overall stance. It was a big block 55 Chevy gasser with pizza cutter rear tires. I sourced out a set of 31 inch tall race slicks and decided to start cutting. Well I tell you what, This car came out FANTASTIC! I couldn't be more happy and I am stoked to drive it on the street!

I have to admit I like it too. Take some 3/8" steel tubing and split it and slip it over the edge of the raidius and weld it on, maybe 1/4" but it would finish off the radius and make it fit better. It would not be hot rod, but it would be a custom cool touch to a a bitching hot rod.

Got that Gasser look 😁 Diffinetly go injection, I use to be such a staunch carb man but with injection less moving parts plus ease of tuning, don't worry about altitude etc. Just makes plain sense bro so do it yeah it costs but worth it

You got the look do not change it, you do not need a lip around the edge you got the strength in the panel and when old school gassers were made that is where we stopped. no need for a fancy lip to worry about. What it needs now is graphics of D D Speed Shop on quarter panel to look like a real racer. Try it you will like it.

It's hard to beat the lines of a '55 Chevy. When I was a junior in high school in 1978, one my friends bought a '55 Chevy . We had so much fun building, and driving the wheels off that car. Great to see what you've done building your car from a four door to a two door. Speed safely

I love the look! I think all you need to do to the radius is beef it up so you can ease the edge, so it's not sharp. If it has about a 3/16" thick (sorry, I don't do millimeters) rounded edge, it'll be great.

Now she has the proper look to her. Leaving the center caps off was done so that you didn't have to pull the tires to prove to the tech inspector that you were running aftermarket axles in the rear end, he was able to see the tags.

Isn't backspacing measured opposite of the way you are thinking? If you want to get away from the spring and the back space is 3-3/4", shouldn't you be at 3-1/2" so there is LESS backspacing and not more?
