The 12 month release window is far more complicated than you think. After the announcement of the 12 month release window Graig (team cherry's lead playtester) did confirm it in the hk discord. However, the person in charge of the xbox event has said that team cherry never confirmed the release date with xbox. This means that xbox has unconfirmed it but the lead playtester has. Edit: it was Geoff Keighley, the host of the xbox bethesda event that said the trailer shown had no release date attached

That makes... No sense. Where the hell did you get that second bit from?? Ever since the Xbox trailer came out, absolutely nobody has mentioned this at all. Why would it be in a trailer for an Xbox event that states everything there is aiming for a twelve month release, which was backed up by people with TC, when Xbox themselves didn't actually confirm it with TC?? That makes zero sense. And nobody has seen this AFAICT. At least I haven't seen any of the big KZbinrs bring this up since the Xbox trailer. Also it was Simo who confirmed it. I think Simo and Graig are two different people. (Their avatars look similar though)

@@DMSwordsmaster miscommunications do happen especially when so many different people are involved, so it's not impossible. Though I haven't heard about this yet, so I'd like to dig a little deeper. And if Graig confirmed it, then we should trust Graig. If Simo said it, we should still take it with a side of salt, since he might have just referenced Xbox's tweet. I'll post a pinned comment when I know more.

Since all we've heard are affirmations from people on the inside... Also, it was pinned in the Hollow Knight Discord as well, with the quote, "I added the tweet (Microsoft confirming the window) to hkannouncements post - the tweet is genuine and accurate". Again, I feel like if it was going to be shot down, it would have long before now.

For me, a feb release date seems most likely. It's the same month hollow knight was released in, and the same month Silksong was announced. In fact, we could see a release date announcement at The Game Awards event in December. I'd suggest to keep an eye on TGA.

the most reasonable release date is like a week before Christmas, all the kids get a money to buy the game and the shops have crazy deals upon Christmas, i tought about it like a month ago its not that hard to think about, + all the new upcoming news about silksong, + the voice actress for hornet is done her part 1.5 months ago, the problem is i am not sure if voice acting is one of the last steps in game development or one of the first steps, i am not sure about that so I cant tell,

I’m going to guess that the release will be after the end of 2022, but probably still during the winter as there’s a lot of highly anticipated games releasing in the spring. They wouldn’t want to release at the same time as other big games because that would decrease sales. I might eat my words but there’s only one way to know for sure

I don't expect a 2022 release at all. I think given how late we are into 2022, I feel like we'd be hearing a lot more about the game if it was that close to release. Plus releasing an indie game in holiday season is pretty... Not good. Holiday is the big dumping ground for the big releases. Nah, I feel like the February date is the most likely one given what we know. Plus Leth had stated in the past that he likes releasing games in Q1. Plus that's when Hollow Knight itself released, so there's a natural expectation to follow up on that date with its sequel.

I'm going to be honest here with silksong being as far as it was and them adding things as well as how games usually release in timeframes I have only 3 rough time preiods in mind 1. it will release somewhere in November spontaneously just like the initial hollow knight without having to wait long. 2. it will be announced in December at the game awards and come out at either X-mas or early January 3. it will release at the end of may or 1st week of June due to school vacations being a factor to give people to play the game.

There's reason to believe Team Cherry originally planned to release Silksong in 2019/2020. Nintendo released a report around the time that included a list of third party games they expected to release in that 'fiscal year' (which ends around Spring.) Every game on that list released within that timeframe, except FF Crystal Chronicles (which got delayed by a few months), and Silksong. In Team Cherry's last blog post, they also mentioned something about their "timelines expanding" to account for stuff they kept on adding onto their original idea. So the silence that followed was likely them realizing it was gonna take longer than they thought, and halting updates to focus solely on work until they felt it'd be time to show more. This explains why there was so much marketing for Silksong in 2019 too. They could've announced it and dragged out revealing info on the game over the next few years to hold fans over, but instead blew threw a sizeable amount of updates with several trailers, demos and blog posts to hype fans up. Lastly, I doubt Xbox didn't confirm the release window with Team Cherry. The claim "These games all come out within the next few months" probably wasn't something they threw out because every developer's announcement HAPPENED to fit that description, except for Team Cherry's. I think it's much more likely that Xbox's intentions with the showcase were to show off games coming in the immediate future, and therefore people who submitted their announcements to them had to do so keeping that in mind. Unless of course there was some sort of miscommunication somewhere along the lines and Microsoft is now lying to people on behalf of other developers.
