We found that after a while choosing numbers becomes imbalanced, so we decided to choose places with them facing down, then flipping them after everyone has placed. It occasionally gives someone rubbish spots, but generally it enhances the strategy i.e. element control and harbor rushing

Placing settlements before revealing the numbers on the hexes? Y’all are madlads! 😆

I think it should be a basic rule. We were always playing like that and of course someone was always really upset but it seems to be more fair.
@louiscario68273 жыл бұрын
@@zoltankrasznai5842 Why should it be a random rule. I never understood why people want to remove the most important decision in the game and make it random, it is unfair and not how the game should be played...

I still have to buy Traders & Barbarians, then 5-6 extensions and only then I can hope to find some crazies to recreate this. It looks awesome!

Nice game this! The biggest game we've ever done was with 12 players. A friend of mine and myself have all the expansions, so we combined everything to make twice the max board. Problem was it took too long. After 5 hours people had to go home, so we gave the player with the most VPs the win. Now we usually play anywhere from 4-9 players. 9 players is the perfect amount for max board times 2. We play Seafarers, Cities & Knights, Fishermen, Rivers and Harbormaster. Did a 5-player game this Saturday; lasted from 8:30PM-1:30AM. Just ordered the Explorers & Pirates expansion. Looking forward to trying it. Keep settling!

Me and some friends did this recently as well, great to see there are some other Catan fanatics out there :-) This was the first time we'd played the traders and barbarian expansion so the game lasted around 10 hours to 20 victory points as we had to figure out all the rules as we went. How did you work with the trader and barbarian developement cards, could you choose which pile you bought from or did you shuffle them into eachother. Also did you use the developements of the original game?

We don't have a table big enuf to do this. Looks uber fun. To spice things up my fam flip the hexes as well as the numbers (sometimes the frame pieces which has the port). We then proceed to place our settlements on sea side and once everyone has placed both settlements, we start flipping the hexes and numbers and start the game 🤣

@supischillbro... I sort of have a set of rules on this.. they're handwritten notes, but i'll find a some time in the next month or so to type them up and try to organize them.. it's intense.. each turn sometimes took as much 20 minutes because there was so much happening. It was ton of fun though

We set out all the different cards that you can 'buy' with a wool/grain/ore set and then you get to choose which set you want to buy from knowing that there are a variety of results you could get. We even allowed the wagon for traders to 'float' on the water if there were ships there as part the road it can travel on from one location to another. Glad to hear you had so much fun. Hopefully we'll get a six player game fully loaded done this summer and have a new video to share with everyone.

1. Which color did win? 2. The intro list named only three not four expansions - SF, C&K and T&B. 3. It was white vs orange and red vs green instead of everyone vs everyone. Thats the drawback of too big of a board.
