Hainanese chicken rice did not originate in southern china but here in Singapore! The Hainanese community here (migrants) came up with it.

Some of the underrated hawker centres worth going are Golden Mile food centre (favourite chicken rice at B1-35 kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJuZiaqforBkeac ) and Hong Lim market and food centre (best fried kuay teow mee at 02-17 Outram fried kuay teow mee kzbin.info/www/bejne/iISciWetZbVgnbs). The popiah and rojak at Maxwell food centre are my favourites too but not the Tian Tian chicken rice. Tian Tian chicken rice is too dry, no soup and sometimes they don’t give enough skin.

Well, i'm sure u've been RIPPED OFF. Newton Hawker Ctr is so NOTORIOUSLY well known for charging HIGH prices even to local S'poreans. Even my GOVERNMENT cannot do anything regarding the pricing. My advice to u is if u ever come back to S'pore, go to CHOMP CHOMP Hawker Ctr. It's in Serangoon Garden area. Plenty of nice n tasty dishes at much more much more CHEAPER prices including ur STINGRAY !!!!!!!

I'm BORN BRED MANUFACTURED in S'pore. Now at 65 yrs old. This is my FIRST EVER time i'm going to comment on our local food. Yes, i'd agree that Maxwell Food Ctr have some very GOOD n TASTY stalls. But only ONE item caught my ATTENTION !!!!!!. It's the ONDEH ONDEH. Why ????? Bcos it's NOT very common to find this. Let's face it. Chicken rice stalls are all over S'pore. U being a tourist is understandable. Must try other town hawker ctr NOT those TOURISTY area !!!!!

I knew it !! Why do foreigners/ tourists eat chicken rice at Tian Tian ????🤔 Not a good representation of delicious chicken rice. Chicken is not silky smooth found in many other stalls. No black sauce to complement the chilli sauce . No soup too 🙃 The ngoh hiang food should be dipped in either the sweet pinky sauce & chilli sauce. They were eating it plain . Oh… I was taken aback when food guide taught them the name of the pandan coconut balls as ‘ oneh oneh’ instead of ‘ondeh ondeh’. I notice that tourists usually eat the same same thing from Indian stalls/ restaurants & that is nasi beranyi. So far nobody tried Indian rojak, Indian style meesiam, mee goreng, etc. Overall not a good hawker experience 😕

Tian tian is a bad representation of good quality chicken rice in Singapore. Many locals will consider them as tourist food. There are definitely better chicken rice out there in Singapore, just ask the locals.

Lovely food but you do not give any information about the etiquette in these Hawker Centres i.e. take your own napkins, or if there is an item left on a table it means someone has reserved the table while waiting/queuing for their food!

Great video guys! Hope you’ve had a wonderful time experiencing Singapore. Perhaps next time, you may visit Geylang Serai market, where the Malay food hawkers are at. You can get to also try our traditional Malay kuihs (sweets and savory cakes/desserts). Also, the one you had was the Chinese rojak and the “apple” thing is actually turnip, which is also one of the ingredients in the popiah. Another think you could try is the Indian Rojak, Malay satay (meat in skewers dipped in peanut sauce) and varieties of seafood with fresh sugarcane juice as your accompaniment drink. Sounds like there’s another reason for you to visit us again huh! 😝🤗 And don’t forget the Botanic Gardens this time, it is free! If you go to the National Orchid Garden there, you can find numerous orchids named after visiting heads of state, heads of government or popular celebrities and important visitors to Singapore. It is our tradition since 1956. 🌸🌸🌸

Singapore had its role in India's Independence. Indian National Army was formed in 1942 under Rash Behari Bose by Indian POWs of the British Indian Army captured by Japan in the Malayan campaign and at Singapore. Rash Behari handed over INA to great Subhas Chandra Bose. he set up provisional government for free India in Singapore. then started the war of indian independence from the British. it was one of the most Epic battle with very little help from the Japanese. after Japan surrender at the end of world war 2 the battle of INA also ended and the soldiers were captured by British army. Brits decided to conduct a public trial on 3 commanders of Ina-Dhillon, Sahgal, Khan. as the news of Netaji with his Army fought against the British spread the entire British Indian Navy revolted in 1946. because of this already weakened British army because of WW2 could not hold onto India and they left in 1947. in 1956 when British pm Clement Attlee came to India then Bengal Governor asked him why British leave India. to which Attlee replied that the role played by Netaji army was paramount for India's Independence.

Sorry if this sounds creepy, but I just noticed Nicole's hair is done up (I can't see quite clearly as Nicole's hairdo is NOT the topic of this video, but it seems like there are braids and a bun? Not sure if I am using the right words). My daughter does ballet and she needs to bun up her hair and my wife spends quite a bit of time doing up her hair. So was wondering if Nicole's hairdo in this video is easier to do by herself... or is Mico an aspiring hairdresser? This is a silly, off-topic comment, so feel free to ignore it! I watched videos like these to remind me of the joys of living in Singapore.
@nicoleandmico

Haha I'm so sad I didn't see this comment back when you first left it! To answer your question, I do it by myself! It does take me a bit of time, but I like it a lot. I do two french braids and end them at the nape of my neck, and then use bobby pins to secure the rest of my hair into a bun. I might be too late to help you out with your issue, but hopefully not!

@@nicoleandmico Thanks for replying my off-topic creepy comment. May I say that I'm a little disappointed that Mico is not an aspiring hairdresser. Is there a name for what you did, or it's just a personal variation? Anyway, thanks. I'll let my wife know, but if it takes a bit of time, maybe we'll save it for special occasions.
