Yes! This is why i became a patron. Thank you so much for doing this. My suggestion would be to do ratio'd matrix builds, too. One challenge of the game is the back and forth scaling. Having discreet modules that scale properly could help with that.

You should point out that players can upgrade/downgrade blueprints before they are built. It's great for mid-game when you don't have all the max-tier buildings but want to use late-game blueprints.
@MrGoodGord3 жыл бұрын
How do you do that?
@WolfPlaysGames23 жыл бұрын
@@MrGoodGord Once the blueprint is placed, the upgrade button will work on the build holograms. For instance, if you place a blueprint that has mk1 parts, but you only have mk3 in your inventory, the hologram will be white. Just hit upgrade on the white hologram until it's mk3 and it will turn green and build. Downgrade work as well.

Awesome tutorial. My 2c on the steel and other double smelting builds: the iron ore line can be put inbetween iron and steel smelters for an even more compact design.
@brohvakiindova44523 жыл бұрын
good idea! on the other hand if you want to build around the ILS footprint like nilaus does, you don't have to do that as long as you can stack the same amount of ILS in one row (like here 3) it doesn't help your design more than saving 10 pieces of belt or something I'd say for maximum space efficiency (there are huge gaps in his designs here) you could go with 2 ILS instead of 3 and squeeze in another 2 rows of smelters probably but then it's not going to be nice and symmetrical I guess In this case I kind of like the breathing room it makes it look extremely tidy and organized and I think with the plane smelters you're going to get very far not utilizing every inch anyway
@Rdlprmpf123 жыл бұрын
You can increase the efficiency for magnets if you make mixed columns: Use the outer rows for iron (or something else) and only the inner ones for magnets. Then you can use the empty space between the central power poles to place 5 extra smelters. So at least half of the belts used for magnets are fully used.
@stevenape3773 жыл бұрын
Random idea I'm proud of: I made a really pretty design for a deuterium fractionation plant on one of the poles. It generates about 60/s deuterium with no fuss. I put pairs of fractionators that face each other in a ring around the pole, and another slightly smaller such ring a little further in. 6 satellite substations in between the rings power the entire thing. (I normally mostly use Tesla towers, but the substations work out really well here.) Two belts on the main meridians carry hydrogen from the ILS at the pole; it gets added to the rings using 2 times 4 splitters. On the other two main meridians raised belts carry back the deuterium. By raising the four in/out spokes and using hi-low splitters, the circular belts can easily pass below the spokes.

You could try complex factories in one build. Like get iron, copper, silicon etc -> chips. And having number of needed productions you could create one huge planet blueprint so that you just go to new system and deploy ready production planet. Just copy-pasting systems as result
@CB-lh8gw3 жыл бұрын
Some may not know this yet but once you've laid a blueprint and it's all white because you don't have an item yet you can use the upgrade/downgrade function to lower the tier of various facilities before it's even been built...probably wouldn't work if you haven't unlocked the higher tier facilities yet but it's not particularly difficult to make your own BP based off of something you've seen before...

@Nilaus Thanks for all you work on dsp, love your accumulators design . I don't see any advantage with MK3 smelters. They are expensive to build and all they do is save space. they take 4 x Power of an arc smelter and only double output. Smelter planets have plenty of space so what's the gain of using them ?
@stevenape3773 жыл бұрын
Wonderful video! I want a masterclass on how to decide what to build on which planet. For example, if I build my dyson sphere around an O type star, do I export the critical photons to my home planet and make antimatter fuel rods there, or do I build that stuff on my dyson sphere world? Do I build titanium alloy on the world with the sulphuric acid ocean, or do I just import the sulphuric acid? Do I export crude oil from an oil-rich world or do I do some refining there, and if so, how do I deal with the hydrogen? Do I have to keep track of what I build locally, in order to decide which ILSs to provide with vessels, or is it better to have an import/export hub and make all production use only local shipping?
@willb52783 жыл бұрын
I mean, part of that is a playstyle choice, but if it was me... Id track the inputs and outputs and try to minimize the number of vessels I need. So if the ore is 2:1 or more for plates? Smelt on site and ship plates. If you have 3 ingredients for a 4 ingredient recipe locally, ship in the missing one and ship out the output. That kind of thing. Of course, if you have to ship power because the mines don't have enough infrastructure to run the smelters or whatever then you have other stuff to consider.

once power is basically free or at least very cheap (mini sun, energy exchangers) it's basically a no brainer
@jbf81tb3 жыл бұрын
I'm not positive they would fit, but could you power each row with two or three Satellite Substations down the middle? Perhaps you are sticking with the normal tesla towers so all the builds can remain consistent under similar constraints, or maybe because 10 teslas are way cheaper than two substations, but I think it would look cleaner in these builds.
@jgischer3 жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same thing. However, Substations drain power as well as being more expensive to build. Since you can put in the teslas with copy/paste or blueprints, there isn't really a downside to them. Also, I seem to recall Nilaus doesn't like how they look. But if you like them, put them in, by all means.
@sonalita_3 жыл бұрын
Yes you could, but some people like myself absolutely detest the look of the substations, especially from space. Normal power poles look so much nicer imho, but each to their own :)

@Nilaus These are amazing!!! I have two questions though, if I may... 1) In your original smelting designs video you had two belts coming straight out of the middle ports, now you kink them by 1 - why is that? just to get the power poles in? 2) Why have you switched to energy exchangers/solar panels instead of suns? (and you 're also mixing solar and exchangers but are not using you load balancing design now)?
@padreigh3 жыл бұрын
The kinking is needed to fit 15 smelters into the 1/20th of the planets circumference. If you sacrifice 1 smelter you would no langer consume a full belt but could build it a bit tighter and by not kinking and placing in line with the planetary stations - but he has enough place to use 15 with kinking and still gets 3 builds per horizontal section.
