My father-in-law recently gave me his mom's old snowblower, which sat in his shed for the last 25 years. 70s John Deere 726 (7hp Tecumseh, 26" auger). Everything was surprisingly well greased, just changed belts, and cheated by throwing a Powerfist engine from Marketplace on it. Runs great, only issue is the throttle cable setup is backwards, so I have to reach down to adjust. Will end up rebuilding the original engine over the Winter. These old blowers are built tough. Where they lose out on power/features, they make up for it with rugged reliability if taken care of.

I couldn’t agree more! A well maintained 70s machine will run forever. New machines are great, for 10 years…. Let me know how things turn out with the rebuild! Thanks for the comment!
