I love how this issue doesnt feel gimmicky. It starts with a quiet, emotional story that sets the stage for perfectly by developing up the supporting cast. Ben Parker and JJJ could be an all time dynamic.

It's REALLY important to me that this is a good run. I swear by the original Ultimate Spider-man comics so much - I would have hated to been disappointed!

As someone who kinda fell off from reading newer Marvel comics let alone monthly releases, this issue was great and I'm looking forward to the next ones. Also an older Peter taking on the mask is not something we see often. Shoutout to the Mark Bagley variant cover which I did not expect my local comic book shop to have in stock lol.

I absolutely loved this issue. Ultimate Spider-Man was what got me into comics as a little kid, some 20-21 years ago (I was probably too young to be reading it, but I loved it all the same). I love Hickman, and Spider-Man seems to be in such good hands with this series. I had dropped ASM because the current run just wasn't up to par. It is so great to have a strong, modern reinterpretation of the character in our hands again.

I thought it was a solid read! Actually reading the the OG Ultimate Spider Man for the first time, so was happy that this felt fresh! Hickman really knows how to make these characters feel human!

It's crazy there is so much change in one issue compared to the last decade of Amazing Spider-man. All in on this. I can start to enjoy Spider-Man again.

Just read it and really enjoyed it. I am not a singles buyer but saw the online approval of this (including your headline) and gave it a go. Enjoyed the relationship building, the gentle start without the need to pander with big action scenes, and the strong set-up to future issues. Mature writing, good storytelling by the artist. I’m back in.

This book is flying off the shelves it’s absolutely insane. Went to pick it up midday Tuesday and the biggest comic shop in Atlanta only had 6 left… haven’t seen anything like this since Venom volume 4 issue 3.

You should really go back and read hickmans ultimate invasion and ultimate universe #1 it lays the groundwork for all this stuff and for the avengers and the catastrophe. Kinda wild you didnt, u would learn about that tony stark and maker stuff etc. glad ur reviewing singles again tho, that is my favorite content from you.

Not gonna happen, in 616 peter is 29 and miles is 17 which set them 12 years apart. Peter in the new relaunch of ultimate is 35 which would make miles 20. Also when miles was 13 he looked up to his uncle Aaron who is also a criminal known as the prowler and after years of negative influence on miles would make me guess that Hickman is going to turn miles into the prowler or work for the king pin maybe both.

@@Keegmire if Hickman wanted miles to be spider man he should of just did that and instead of making peter spider man in this universe he should of just started with miles but he didn’t. But he also did say he wanted his Peter to be like peter from the spider verse movies and he might even give us a similar miles and relationship between both peter and miles, I really like him a lot I just think the only way to really do good with miles in the comics is not fix but just start over completely, give us a new reimagining for the character but keep his orgin relatively the same.

I really hope Hickman is the creative master mind behind all these Ultimate titles and they don't bring in a bunch of C list writers to mess with his plans. If that's The case then this universe might be something big while the current 616 mostly sucks

Just read it, and this is not hyperbole it is fantastic. Peter with a beard , uncle Ben alive and kicking, and no spider powers. The only thing that doesn’t ring true to me is Peter much too smart to be working as a reporter.

It shouldn't be called "ULTIMATE" when it has nothing to do with 1610 other than The Maker being the [anti] catalyst. This is an entirely new universe. Aping the name recognition of the Ultimate Universe makes it seem like a bait & switch with no faith in this new continuity, regardless of how good it may be. This simply ISN'T "Ultimate Spider-Man" & calling it such is needlessly misleading.
