I’m really liking Ultimate Spiderman. I like that there is slow progression of the characters. Like Sean said, I think the problem is that most people were approaching it as issue 6 must be the end of the first arc. I don’t believe that it was ever stated that book 6 would be the end of the first arc. I can see this running a full 12 issues before it truly establishes the true motivation for Peter. I’m personally ok with that because I like character growth. As far as the artists it doesn’t bother me nearly as much as the rest of you. It’s my pick of the week.

Yeah, I hear you. I’m glad the book is working for you and I’m definitely on the hook for the run regardless, but I think it’s fair to say that this has been a much slower burn than we’re used to getting.

Im trying to be optimistic when it comes to Ultimate Spider-man, but Marko really hit the nail on the head for me when it comes to the problems with this book.

Interesting, I thought you would love this issue of Spider-Man, but in the end each person looks for different things in a story and has different expectations. That said, I think you are looking too much for this book to be like the life and characters of Spider-Man from 616? Although I agree that there is a long period of time between each book, something that affects interest and pacing, they must find a solution.

Not necessarily the life and characterization of 616, but certainly some momentum, danger and stakes would be great.
