I also made sure to purchase this pen for my niece and nephew to use on their surface go 2 computers - they love the ability to draw and color with it, and I love using my pen for note taking 😁👍. "If you've never used a AAAA battery before, don't worry, they're very easy and cheap to buy." Yes! Ugh, I hated hearing from tech reviewers about how "weird" and supposedly inconvenient it was to have a pen that requires an AAAA battery. They last nearly a YEAR and you get them where you get all your other stuff: on Amazon. These same reviewers thought sticking a pen with a lightening connector at the end into your iPad was both convenient and good design. Ugh! Tech journalists can be terrible.

I wish they would release a newer pen with 2 side buttons! It was SO handy for photoshop, but the old pens with two buttons apparently don't have as much sensitivity.

I've had a surprisingly difficult time identifying which pen I have so this video was extremely helpful for that. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a disassembly guide or video for the No Clip pen. I stepped on it and the barrel button got stuck in the "in" position, and in an attempt to get inside I removed the tip/head of the pen and it hasn't worked since. I twisted the bottom to get it off (because that's how my old pens did it) and I'm worried it caused some kind of short since the nodes may have come into contact with the metal on the inside. I don't even know if that's how it works though, so who knows? Any ideas?

Hmmm, sounds like you would have a better idea than me! I've used this video as a bit of a reference before: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpTZg4yKl9yZY8k It's not the best quality, but it is in depth! It is for an older version of the pen too. From that video, I judge that repairing the pen is not very feasible. Let me know if you do have any success.

I am using the Surface Pen with two buttons at the side and the purple top. I haven't used it a lot but the battery i suspect is flat. I have replaced it and it will delete but not write. Could the cause be the tiny batteries in the pen top (once you have removed the spring?) Surely not if the 'delete' is working? *****I think now I have I listened to your full report, the answer is yes - replace the tiny batteries in the top.

Hello, i have a big doubt. I want a Surface Pen that supports tilt on Surface Go 3, but on the Microsoft Website it states that the only pen compatible with this function is the "Surface Pen with no Clip". My problem is that currently there are two models with this feature, i.e. the "EYU-00014" (with a circular head and no buttons) and the "EYU-00010" (that has an hexagonal shape and one single button). Do you think that both of them support tilt on Surface Go 3 and the difference is only an aesthetical one?

I have a Surface Pro 7 and I'm looking for the latest compatible Surface Pen model that supports pen and inking with 4096 pressure points, that features Bluetooth connectivity and tilt. Is that model released in June 2017? Or is there a newer model? Which is the model and the part number of that platinum color?

The Surface Pen from 2017 is current (Surface Pen with No Clip, shown at 4:50 in this video). All Surface pens with that shape will support tilt and 4096 levels of pressure.

Yes, that is the 2017 pen. It works on every Surface from Pro 3 - current models (excluding Surface Hub and Laptop Go).

Interesting, my Surface Pro 4 pen (with clip) has a laminated battery guide that holds the battery - it's attached to the end cap. Did yours come off, or are they slightly different revisions?

Yes, it came off. I used to remove them as the did get in the way sometimes. My Pro 4 pen has seen better days!

I think that if you can find the pro 4 pen used but great condition for 50$ or less (including shipping) on eBay go with that, it is basically just as good. I found 1 for 25$ and with fees/shipping all the way to canada it was 35$

I have the slim pen for my surface pro 7, but I feel uncomfortable while using it sometimes. Even the magnetic on the pen is very weak, it drops many times when I stuck it to the surface. Do you advise me to buy the 2017 version or is the slim pen better ? Excuse my English :).

The magnets on the 2017 pen and the shape of it give it a stronger hold on the Pro 7. I personally use the 2017 pen on my Pro 7 and the Slim Pen on the Pro X.

Good point! We didn't show it. Fortunately it's exactly the same as the Classroom Pen. So, you'll see how to do it at 8:46 in the video. Pull the tip out with some tweezer. Links to replacement tips in the description.

iPhones do not work with Surface pens. They do not have the required in screen hardware.

Slim pen shape is taken from the carpenter's pencil. I would prefer the regular shape - why mess up a good old design of a pen? There's a reason why almost pens/pencils come in the regular almost cylindrical shape.

Old pen still works. That said, the new design is very comfortable. For whatever reason, it seems lighter on the grip in long use for me.
