The UST Blastmatch and WetFire tinder review by LiveLongGear. This one handed fire starter is pretty cool. Can be stand alone fire starter, or paired up with a tinder type product like the Wet Fire starters that come with the blastmatch. Good vs Bad, pros and cons! Tell me what experiences you have with this and tests you would like to see. Thanks for watching Comment, Subscribe, and Like- Thanks guys, Take Care!

For those interested, I have used one for about 4 years now and it is great. Now a few months back the steel piece that scraps it did break off which is also the lock for it keeping the cap on. So the cap didn't stay together any more. However, I pulled the ferro rod out and put in on a keychain and I still use it today. All in all, it will eventually fall apart but the ferrocium rod inside is ultimately well worth it. It works better than most high end gear I have owned. But I will also say never go without a mag bar for back up. Cheap or expensive mag bars are always great to have as back up for your main fire.

Probably the best thing about this is that it is one handed. If a person is injured and is having a hard time definitely the one-handed technique can be a lifesaver.

Appreciate hearing both pros and cons.And the pros,according to your thorough review,outweigh the cons.Wasn't gonna buy one at first,but now,yes.Thanks for the review.

Honest question here - why not just use a regular lighter? They are simple, cheap and I imagine just as effective as these type devices.

All of the folks that had theirs "break on them" probably eat crayons too.

Seems pretty cheap. the striker bar seems pretty loose in there and if the spring fails or you get dirt or sand or something in there I can see it not sliding so well..

I got one and the metal bar fell out after a few uses though it can be put back in place, its still annoying. I wouldn't recommend it if your serious about survival gear its just not reliable enough.

How does Wetfire compare to Trioxane?
@LiveLongGear
@LiveLongGear 9 жыл бұрын
hxly z Wetfire is my favorite between the two. It doesn't seem to burn as hot (but it still has plenty of heat) but it is waterproof, burns longer per amount of material, and when the trioxane container is broken it turns to a hard to light powder. Check out my trioxane video and you will see exactly what I mean.

The blastmatch is over priced and overrated you can buy a 2 dollar striker or several for that matter and use the wetfire logs.My question is do the wetfire's dry out if not used right away ? being these are for survival i would think thats a need to know.

I have owned two of these and they both broke in the first attempts at using them. And yes, I did follow the directions. They're junk.
