I've been doing it this way for years with my old 85lbs speakers. Worked perfectly and safely every time..Now I have lighter speakers with Air Support stands that goes much lower. Love my Ultimate Support stands

Have the same issue when lifting off heavy speakers. What I don't understand is, why the stands don't lock when in lock position preventing from moving up when removing the speaker. A simple solution which I am going to do it drill a hole and put a locking pin to in two positions. Ultimate should add this to their product. It works best for safety. This would stop the center pole from moving up or down when in raised position, and when in the lowered position using the same pin.

These would be great for a light truss as well form Global Truss, between the two stands it can hold about 200 pounds of lights easily.

this is more about you lifting 100 pounds over your head than the ultimate support stands
