Lynette I feel like you need a big hug, so here is one from Pa. You are doing a great job with your home and I know it gets frustrating when you have to do it over and over. Relax a little and keep making the boys help you where possible. And do not be concerned that it needs to be better, it is good enough. And like I always say, Ten years from now it won't even matter if something is not done for a day. Blessings to you and the family.

It is totally okay to let things go sometimes. I didn't used to be so good at that and would really push myself to get all the housework done, but in the last few years my chronic illness has taken my ability to stand or walk a lot away so a wheelchair took over where I used to bike ride. I have to do things in small bursts when I can now. It has made me stop and realize that sometimes, things can't be done and they can wait. You are doing a wonderful job and do what you can. That's all we can do right? You're doing a wonderful job with your boys and that is so easy to see with how genuine your entire family is. Now my favorite thing to clean is the kitchen. I love a clean kitchen. It makes me happy. My least thing I like to clean is the bathroom. You're doing wonderfully. It just seems you're a bit hard on yourself. The important thing is do what you can and the rest will fall into place. :)

You seem just worn out! Don't be so hard on yourself...your home is beautiful and I don't know how anybody that has children can keep ahead of them to keep a house clean! You've done so much since you moved. Take a little time just to enjoy your home and take some time just for yourself, if you can!

My mom taught us to start with the job we disliked the most, to get it over with and feel accomplished- so, I always start with the bathrooms. 😝 I use to be able to clean the whole house in a day, but not anymore. Naps are healthy!! Definitely teach your boys to help and be responsible for their things. What we have is a gift from God and we show our gratitude by taking care of them. Children really like to be needed and have purpose. I always felt I would be cheating my son if I didn't teach him responsibilities he would need as an adult. Our grown son now just does things for us without being asked and I think it is because of how we raised him.

I seem to always start in the kitchen too. I don't do the whole house cleaning in one day, but I do clean the kitchen everyday. I love that your kids are helping. It won't be long before they can do more around the house. Your videos are very encouraging. I don't usually copy what other people have but I did buy a snake plant. I like the look of your snake plant in the white planter. Hoping to make mine work in farmhouse decor.

I like that you are incorporating modern fashions into your presentation, I also very much appreciate Mennonite outfits. I live in Humboldt county, the women who are Mennonite here wear a cotton dress material that is like dress shirt material. The head covering is like a small bonnet, It is very pretty when all the ladies wear their pastel colored dresses that they fashion as a church. I appreciate these cleaning methods s they are thorough and hat all families need!

Lynette your home is so lovely and cozy. You've done and come a long way from when you first moved in, it's truly beautiful. Taking time with patience to make it a home has definitely shown through the kind of decor items you've chosen as well as furniture. Also same outside with your landscaping. Take it easy, even in the knowing of lots going on with family visits and still school incredibly around the corner brings obviously new routines with schedules. Take time out to rest for yourself and baby. While working you can forget the extra weight within no doubt can slow you quite a bit especially when you're used to being on the go to get things done. Do not be discouraged, just kick the "dis" off and be encouraged. Be well💝

Lynette, there is a difference between the sheen on the arm of the couch versus the seat cushion. Like you, when I start cleaning, I always begin in the kitchen. Then, I clean the bathroom. Once that is done, I dust and vacuum the living areas and the bedrooms. Then, if I do not need to change the bed sheets, I just make the bed. Finally, I start on the laundry. With just the two of us, it doesn't take long. Your house looks so fresh and clean every time. Kids are messy sometimes that is for sure. I always made them clean one mess up before they could move on to the next on their agenda. I agree, they need to be taught what it is to be part of a family and everyone pitches in to get it done. They will learn. Just keep plugging away at it. Have a great weekend!

Great video Lynette! Get that rest while you can. Look into indoor/outdoor/patio rugs for under the dining room table. They are easily cleaned and don't stain. I first got the idea for myself several years ago watching QVC where they showed the outdoor rugs inside in a family room so I got one for my front hall, it is reversible so I put the darker side up, my guys coming in from the garage after working on cars does not show any stains and the rug still looks new.

Your Florida home is coming along nicely. The decor for our future new home is also midcentury modern. It’s a classic. As far as warming up the dinning room I would suggest ditching the area rug and bring warmth and texture in via nice, quality curtains. Having a rug under your dinning table will bring on more work with vacuuming and shampooing. You’re about to have a little one so you don’t want to work harder than you need to.

I love how your home is shaping up... Just a curious thought... Your family room is absolutely gorgeous and I agree with you it's warm... I know white is different from your other home and I'm wondering if in your living / Dinning room what if you painted at least an accent wall ? Perhaps it would give it a similar warmth as to your family room ? On the videos the living room seems fairly bright... and I think even with an accent wall the rooms would still be bright... I do love a bright room... I'm only suggesting it because of how many times you have referred to how Warm & Cozy your family room is... it's just a question / suggestion ... Either way I think your house is shaping up beautifully...

I’m not a dining room rug type person! Too many crumbs and spills especially with kids. But I know a lot of people do have one and prefer it regardless. I do agree getting some new curtains in your dining room will make a huge difference though! I’d also maybe paint an accent wall on the far back wall, the one you have a clock on. I love your home decor, it’s really coming together! Your style is exactly what I love! KZbin seems full of farmhouse style which is lovely too but not quite my thing so your videos are a breath of fresh air when it comes to home decor. ☺️

I usually clean my tub when I shower! I love the look of a rug in the dining room, but alas I can't get over all the crumb that would collect in it. I remember when my kids were little, I didn’t get them to help me as much as I should have, and I do have regrets about that now. I didn’t do them any favors in the long run. You’re right, it’s very good training for them and work is good! Hope you’re having fun with family. I was wondering if your mom watches your videos or if your family room was a surprise for her. Your vlog showed up in my feed and because of your last name I was curious. I love your channel and way to go on sharing your life with the world. We need people like you to share your knowledge, your beliefs and your life. We recently moved to North East Kansas and bought our house from a Yoder family. There is a moderate size Amish-Mennonite community in our small town and many of our neighbors are the same. We love the close-knit community lifestyle that they live and we love the little bit involvement we’ve had with everyone. Yoder is a famous name in Kansas. There’s a whole town named after the Amish Yoder family. (You probably already knew that).

I think that the kitchen is the natural starting point when cleaning because it's ALWAYS used (well, for those that have families.) I actually like to clean the bathroom. You're right, it needs to cleaned all the time (again, going back to the usage) but it's not hard, save the tub. I have autoimmune issues that make life adventurous😉. It gets better. Your children will grow, and the hard work that you instill in them now, will pay off. Yes, it IS easier to just do it yourself, but, we have to teach our children. A real encouragement to me was the book called Laying Down the Rails by Sonya Shafer. I wish I had found it earlier. There are some things that I disagreed with, however, I know that even when we disagree with people on something we can still utilize something that they are doing right. Anyhow, it talks about taking the trouble to set up habits in our children that when they are older, they do what is expected of them without issues, because it's a habit.

Girl, our German leather furniture has lasted 7 years and 4 kids so far, the easy wipe away of messes has made it worth it for me. But I also have only "cleaned" them with a product once...once! So I'm not the poster child for that. I just wipe them down with a damp rag, and the longhorn color is so forgiving. I will say it has a texture, it's not completely smooth so that probably helps. I'm sure if (I mean WHEN lol)I use it again, I'll notice the color change.

I start in the kitchen as well. Yr couch turned out great, what a difference. I need to do mine, they’re over due! I look at house cleaning as a form of exercise. I’m wheelchair bound so the more this body moves the better, lol

You did a great job cleaning your house and couch and it all turned out lovely! I think a rug would look really nice under your table. Lisa Bass from Farm House on Boone has one and she says that it helps hide crumbs and messes until you can get it vacuumed or swept and it works really well.

I always start cleaning in the kitchen too. It's a real downer when you are tired from cleaning the rest of the house, and you need to cook and the kitchen is a mess!
