Nice to see how hydrophobic properties are restored by this process. Curious with respect to a 3-year ceramic coating, do the hydrophobic properties decline in a linear fashion or exponential at the end? Do you polish until hydrophobic properties are gone or what level before reapplying.
@PanTheOrganizer12 күн бұрын
When you want to remove an existing ceramic coating, it’s always best to polish until no hydrophobic properties are left. Water should be laying in a pool (no beading) and slow to sheet off, a good indication that there’s no protection left. Some say that just lightly abrading a coating is enough, but if you still get hydrophobics it means there’s still a bit of the old protection left and I’m not a fan of doing it that way. I want a clean virgin surface to apply the new coating in, so it can fully bond to the clear coat.

Pan's back! 🎉 you seem very energised and enthusiastic! Good to see. I have particularly warmed to Labocosmetica particularlythe scent they use is wild. Also the feel under your mitt feels quality. Purifica is a fantastic shampoo for this method. The pretreat and snowfoamer combo is a very good idea, ensuring you get deeper chemical absorbsion into the grime sealing off with the foam cannon over the pretreat. Your coating looks amazing, I've got a bottle of your 8 year- is there much difference in hydrophobic properties between the 3 and 8 year? I'm now just waiting for a day above 15°C and good conditions to install it...
@PanTheOrganizer15 күн бұрын
Thanks for the positive feedback mate! The biggest difference between the 3 and 8-year coatings is the durability. But as the 8-year also contains more actives, it bumps gloss and slickness and resistance to chemicals a little more. Not that the 3 year needs more gloss or slickness, hehe, it's already a great coating in its own right.

I have a water deionizer setup in my garage, but I didn’t use it for this video. My house water is already super soft as I have a water softener for the home. Hard water can affect the foaming level of soaps, but not so much their cleaning abilities. Unless you have extremely hard water 800 ppm or more. Then maybe but that remains to be tested.

Great Video Pan ! Kind of a different question for when I build my garage. While washing cars inside your garage in winter months obviously you have a floor drain to drain the water but for the rest of the water and moisture and humidity. What heat source do you use in your garage? Amd what other precautions did you take when you built your garage to prevent mold and mildew etc. Ps love seeing those water beads
@PanTheOrganizer10 күн бұрын
Hi! I actually have two garage drains in my garage, one for each car. In Montreal, the build code for new homes requires at least one drain in the garage. So I paid an extra to the contractor to have a second one added. I also worked closely with my builder to have the garage custom made to be able to handle my detailing needs. That includes having it oversized to 24 x 24 feet, with 13 feet ceilings, so no water ever splashes on the walls. The walls themselves are a mold resistant drywall, painted with mold resistant paint. I have a powerful heat pump that can heat and cool my garage year round. And I also have an additional dehumidifier to control my humidity to 40-45% at all times. We also had a company install a custom polyurea coating on the floor and a few fight on the cement foundation, to seal the cement. All the details about my garage are in my full garage tour video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ramZeYd4dt-Yjqssi=yNgAZaLwdZhTPI_1

Great video, as always! I have a question for you. What are your thoughts on electric vehicles? Are you for or against at this moment in time? My opinion - here in Australia there aren’t nearly enough public charging stations compared to places like the US. In addition, the charging does take a fair while - certainly longer than filling a tank of fuel, making a trip between my home and Sydney (normally 7.5hrs) considerably longer if I could find a charging station and it wasn’t in use. I think I’ll wait until the charging stations are more plentiful and the speed of charging has improved. Oh, and the cost of EV’s has decreased some more. Would love to know your thoughts.

Hello. By doing all these steps you have done and Ceramic leaves a trace of washing marks, do you think Ceramic is not good?
@PanTheOrganizerКүн бұрын
I don't understand your question Alberto. The ceramic coating is doing amazingly well. This video was just showing how sometimes it's important to do chemical decontamination with specialized soaps when your car is submitted to harsh conditions like in winter with road salts. A pH neutral soap isn't always enough to remove those, so you can use the soaps here. Once the car was washed, we could see how amazing the coating was performing.

Living in Erie's lake effect snow region, my Camry, with the 8-year coating is currently covered in ice, snow, road debris and salt deposits. No chance of cleaning it with temps in the teens and 20's for at least the next week! No access to a heated garage! I applied the coating in mid-October (5000 miles ago) and have been able to wash it around once a week, until now. I find traffic film quickly clogs the coating on the lower portions and rear end, even in just rain, but a Carpro Reset pre-wash and contact wash quickly restores the coating. After the heavy Thanksgiving snow, I used Bilt Hamber Touchless (only once so far) - awesome product. I did notice at the last wash that the rear end wasn't beading as well. Perhaps it needs another Touchless application plus a Carpro Descale in just that area. The rear end seems to get covered in dirt and film very easily.
@PanTheOrganizer16 күн бұрын
Yeah that's what winter does, regardless of what paint protection you have on. My Porsche Cayenne has the C6 Hydro coating and the same thing occurs. After a few days of driving, the lower portions sheet and get clogged. Luckily I can wash my car as often as I want in my garage, so just a quick pH neutral wash usually helps. But after a few weeks of winter driving, I eventually have no other choice but to use a high pH pre-wash followed by an acidic contact wash to "unclog" the coating. Also keep in mind that regular washing of any coating is key. Coatings aren't bulletproof. They need maintenance. Some need toppers (not the case with mine) but all of them need regular care and washing, and chemical decon when needed. Also we have to factor in prep and application. If there were mistakes during the application, or you weren't in the right conditions as per the instructions, a coating won't perform its best. Food for thought. As you can see from this video, the coating is just my 3-year (not even the 8-year) and is performing outstanding once the chemical decon is completed. It's like day 1. :) Happy new year!

@@PanTheOrganizer I did actually manage to wash the car today and it was 19F out with 6 inches of snow! I used two 5-gallon buckets of tap-hot water, one with McKee's Rinseless and one with plain water. I used those to feed my Ryobi EZClean 650 psi pressure washer. Applied Rinseless from a distance onto the paint below the glass line doing panels at a time, then came back and used the pressure to remove the dirt, again with the Rinseless solution. Used my Rinseless sponge and the Rinseless bucket for the contact wash (squeezing out the sponge on the snow and that meant no visible dirt got in the Rinseless bucket), and then rinsed off with plain water, and seeing good hydrophobics. I used my leaf blower to get as many droplets off as possible. Other than a few frozen droplets, the car looked really good and certainly clean. Biggest problem was getting out the frozen solid snow packed under the wheel wells!

Hey Pan what are you still think about 303 Graphene spray ? after so many years past they really last one year and plus ? Would you still suggest? to purchase. Reason I’m asking I’m new in detailing product but I’ve been watching a few videos of DIY and yours, of course Pan the organizer. Great content always. ❤

At this point in time it has been largely surpassed by newer offerings in my opinion, but should still get you 6+ months of real world durability if applied correctly. Sprays don't last more than 6-12 months though. Should you want something more durable in terms of years, the only solution is a full blown ceramic coating (those in glass bottles).

Personal Pan i wouldn't do a hand contact wash after the 1st treatment i would have carried out the pre-wash and used the 1st product shampoo whilst re-foaming with the 1st product the carried on as you have with the rest of the video BUT I would use several separate microfiber noodle mitts for different sections thrus eliminating any chance of introducing scratches to the paintwork
@PanTheOrganizer16 күн бұрын
There was zero scratches or marring here. The first pre-wash was effective at removing the grit. The rest is just road film which the next step easily removed as you saw. There was no "grit" left to do any marring. This method is as per Labocosmetica expert himself, Reggy Cox. He has decades of detailing experience, and his method proved perfect here. But as with anything in detailing, do what you feel is best for you, to keep your mind at ease. As long as people use safe washing and drying methods, there are many different ways to properly wash a car. I just happen to share the methods I like. After 27 years of detailing, I have yet to scratch or do any marring on paintwork. Proper techniques, proper tools and products, and a heck of a lot of passion for the craft.

Hi Pan, great video as always! I have a question, my water has 350ppm, am I better off using these 2 labocosmetica products on every other wash or getting a DI water system? Or maybe one thing is not related to the other?
@PanTheOrganizer7 күн бұрын
A DI water system is excellent for preventing water spotting after the wash process. But that doesn't unclog a coating's accumulated minerals or traffic film that occurs when driving. So the soaps play a different role, removing the contamination. DI water doesn't do that. So I love DI water for the final rinse after the wash process, as that prevents water spotting compared to having hard water like you have. You could even technically let your car to air dry outside after a rinse with DI water, and the water just evaporates without leaving minerals behind, as there are no minerals in DI water. 0 ppm The two Labo soaps play a different role. They tackle organic and inorganic contamination the surface. Road film, grime, oily substances, bug guts, water spots, mineral deposit accumulation, etc. So different tools for different tasks, like anything in the detailing world. I hope this helps!

Does rinsing with a pressure washer, then foaming soap on and going straight in for a contact wash pose a scratch risk? Since pressure should remove most if not all the grit off the paint, road film shouldn't scratch.
@PanTheOrganizer15 күн бұрын
There are many ways to wash a car, but foaming first, before the initial rinse, is usually a better idea as you're encapsulating a bit of the loose dirt and debris and adding lubrication on the surface before blasting with the pressure washer. Just using the pressure washer without a snow foam or rinseless wash pre-treat can potentially drive that loose dirt to cause marring. So foaming on dry paint, letting it dwell a bit, then rinsing, then either re-foam and contact wash, or go straight to contact wash.

@PanTheOrganizer16 күн бұрын

Hi Pan. I’m expecting my new BMW delivered next month. Want to try coating it with CLEAN. ceramic coating. Do you think I still need to polish the exterior before applying the coating on a new car?
@PanTheOrganizer15 күн бұрын
Yes for sure you need to polish. Cars are never perfect even when new, and dealerships usually always apply some cheap wax or sealant prior to delivery so the only way to ensure 100% removal is by machine polishing. A new car is never new until it's properly detailed. - at the factory, the paint defects are often corrected quickly by rotary polishing which can leave marks and holograms, so polishing corrects those, before you lock that in long term with a ceramic coating for example. - vehicles are then transported by truck, train and boat so they are exposed to the elements, industrial fallout, brake dust, rail dust, etc - vehicles are often left at boat docks (when transported by boat) or in exterior parking lots for weeks or months, again being exposed to the elements - at the dealership, the vehicles are almost always poorly prepped using the same dirty water that was used for all the cars on a given day, and poor washing and drying methods leading to swirls and scratches - at the dealership, a layer of cheap wax or paint sealant is usually applied to attempt to make the paint glossy prior to delivery. It's crucial to remove any previous protection before you apply a ceramic coating, as coatings need to bond directly to a virgin clear coat. If you only plan on applying a regular carnauba wax or paint sealant though, you could decide to skip machine polishing, as those protectants can be applied over existing protection and it's not as crucial to prep the paint as well. I explain all of this in this popular video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5jSqqV5Ypp2g8U So you can better visualize the new car prep process, here are the steps I perform on a brand new car for my customers: Audi RS6 Avant Performance: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gma2gmOQfq92oJIsi=mcQiMs9HBLlaqjGK Mercedes AMG GT 63 Coupe: kzbin.info/www/bejne/anzdn6WdaL9mZ9E Mercedes S 580: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKLCpZmZrNesjKssi=whord2_UEFSg28UW Tesla Model 3: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4eagoqtrtqDgpY Aston Martin Vantage: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXzKkmavj7uHp9E Volvo XC60: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqenc3Wbo82MfKM Porsche 911 Carrera: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJTOmpysl6ukqZY

Great review Pan, I seem to recall your girlfriend’s car was coated with Adams Advanced Graphene coating, I was using your reviews to benchmark what product I should use and ended up going for the Adams Advanced Graphene coating, which I am very impressed with. Was there anything adverse with the Adams product that we should be aware of? I recognize it now has your own brand of coating , but wanted to check on your Adams Advanced Graphene experience.

My girlfriend's vehicle was coated with the Adam's Advanced Graphene Ceramic Coating in October 2021 and the coating did well for the first 2 to 2.5 years, after which is started to fail in the lower portions of the doors and bumpers. So unfortunately, it would have never reached its claimed 9 years of durability in my conditions. So I decided to strip everything off and apply my own CLEAN By Pan 3-year ceramic coating in September 2024. Here's the video explaining all that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oovWgX5-g6hnn5Y The Adam's Advanced Graphene Ceramic Coating was good at the time, but has now been surpassed by many of its competitors that cost less, are easier to apply, and have better properties in my opinion. Keep in mind the Adam's as of right now is 133$ USD on their website. At that price point, there are many great options on the market.

@PanTheOrganizer I guess I should have made myself clearer. I was in a hurry. I feel like a PH spectrum is unnecessary when the Clean Shampoo is maintaining my hydrophobic properties along with your ceramic. The key in my amature opinion is the contact wash. I've not had any issues with road film or water spots after a good wash with your shampoo and proper drying technique with a quality microfiber towel. Maybe I missed something in your presentation.

I applied the Clean 8-year to one of my cars and love the results. I would like to do the same with my Macan when the existing coating is updated. The Macan is covered 100% with Xpel PPF and then coated with Xpel ceramic coating. Two questions: (1) is Clean 8-year compatible with PPF? (2) assuming I need to remove the Xpel ceramic coating before applying the Clean 8-year, what is your recommendation for doing that on PPF? Thanks!
@PanTheOrganizer15 күн бұрын
Hi Tim! Yes my coatings can be applied on PPF. I spoke about that in the coatings presentation video and many other videos. To remove a coating from paint or PPF, the only way to do that is by machine polishing. Then panel prep spray, then you apply the new coating. With XPEL PPF, check with your PPF installer, as apparently XPEL voids your warranty if you use coatings other than their own.
@TomScelfo15 күн бұрын
@@PanTheOrganizer Thanks for your response! When you coated a Taycan Turbo with PPF two years ago, you used two coatings (Gtechniq and CarPro) and emphasized that they were specifically designed for PPF (by coincidence, that Taycan is the same Gentian Blue color as my Macan S). At the time, you said that it was important that a ceramic coating for PPF is flexible and designed to penetrate the PPF surface. The Clean 8-year ceramic coating that I applied to my wife's car seemed super hard, which is great on her clear-coated car. You also said in that video that you shouldn't use a normal panel prep because it may be too strong for PPF, so you diluted IPA to a 40% solution. I wasn't sure if the Clean Panel Prep might be too strong for PPF and require dilution. You also "super saturated" the application pad to begin - is that also a good idea for the Clean 8-year coating? However, that video was two years ago, so perhaps the coatings and prep materials have improved so much that your previous concerns are no longer an issue with the Clean products. Also, thanks for the excellent information regarding XPEL PPF and using a non-XPEL ceramic coating potentially causing warranty issues. Thanks again for your help!

In the rinseless system, can you presoak with preludio alkaline and use preludio acidic in the wash bucket?
@PanTheOrganizer15 күн бұрын
No. The Preludio system is made to be used as a pre-treat BEFORE the rinseless wash method. Meaning you put the dilution in a spray bottle or pump sprayer, pre-spray on the surface, let it dwell (don’t let it dry!) and then do the rinseless wash method right on top. I will have a video on that soon.

Thanks for the great video, Pan! Always looking forward to them. I need your pro tip. About 7-8 months ago, I had my vehicle protected: 65% Gyeon PPF, 35% Gyeon Syncro ceramic coating. I wash it with Gyeon Eco Wash (I like it) or occasionally with Gyeon PPF Wash (ph 6). Sometimes I pre-wash it with Gyeon Foam (neutral). Now in winter, I see the failing repellency mostly on PPF. It may be clogged, as you describe in the video. I was thinking of trying Gyeon Restart wash (ph 6), but I am not sure it will make a big difference compared to Gyeon PPF Wash (also ph 6), which I already use. All of them are a bit acidic, not alkaline. What would you recommend for reviving the coating in my case (and how often to repeat): - Gyeon Restart wash (ph 6) / Labocosmetica Primus 2.0 (ph 11). What would you recommend for regular maintenance: - Prewash: Gyeon Foam / Maniac Line Foam gun prewash. - Contact wash: Gyeon Eco Wash / Gyeon PPF wash / CarPro Reset (winner for coated cars in one of your videos).

Sure, I see lots of beading and sheeting, but if I left those beads on my car, there would be water spots everywhere. Do you dry the car off or just let it air dry?
@PanTheOrganizer16 күн бұрын
I use a deionized water system in my garage so I cod let it air dry and the water would evaporate and leave no minerals behind. But if you have normal tap water, you should absolutely dry the vehicle as quickly as possible after the drying process, using a blower or microfiber drying towel. Regardless if your paint has protection or not on it.

Also, do you know when your pads will be restocked at the house or rags? Would the DIY Gold standard waffle pad be okay to use as a replacement for your foam polishing pad? Thanks again!
@PanTheOrganizer16 күн бұрын
No prewash will fully strip off existing protection, regardless how good the stripping soap is. Stripping soaps and decon washes can only start thr breaking down process of existing paint protection. The only way to ensure 100% removal is by machine polishing. All of this is carefully explained in the instructions provided with my coatings. My polishing pads are all in stock in the USA. Were you referring to the Canadian website? In Canada, they should be available very soon. They are on their way to the Canadian warehouse. @PanTheOrganizer16 күн бұрын
I would never recommend detailing in temperatures below 50F as that is not a good user experience, and most chemicals aren't designed to work well in near freezing or freezing temperatures. You'd find it to be a nightmare trying to wash your car all while the soap or rinseless wash are freezing on the surface. There aren't many miracles unfortunately. Either you wait for warmer days, clean your car in your garage if you have a heated garage, go to a self-serve wash bay and do the job there, or bring your car to a reputable professional detailer near you and have them do it for you. The same goes for someone asking if it's ok to wash and ceramic coat their car in direct sunlight in 110F weather, and they also have hard water issues where they live. There are limits to what one can do outside when conditions aren't appropriate for detailing.

It’s not my app. It’s just a general dilution app regardless of what product you are using. So for example, both my soap and rinseless wash are a 1:256 dilution ratio in the wash bucket. That means 0.5 oz of soap for every gallon of water. In 4 gallons of water, you’d add 2 oz of product. For the shampoo, in the foam cannon, a 1:10 ratio is a good starting point. 3 oz of shampoo and 27 oz of water, for a total of 30 oz in the foam cannon container. Those are the only two products from my lineup that you dilute.
