Thinking these products are more about stain protection. The difference in the two will be the denseness of the pile. The floor mat, of course, being denser.
@FineDetailingAZ2 күн бұрын
@@waterhose4130 fair assessment but my floor mats are a pretty similar weave. Also KCX doesn’t make any distinction on their site or bottle. If that’s the case then this shouldn’t be called allround and specifics should be called out. From KCX: Allround Textile Sealant protects all types of textiles against water, dirt and stains without impairing the look and feel. Textiles of all kinds for interior and exterior use, such as convertible roofs, seat covers, etc.
@waterhose41302 күн бұрын
@ All these products can protect, are what they can get a hold of. They will never form an impermeable barrier on a textile as a whole, only what’s used to create the textile, Everything between those strands are just plane airspace.
@FineDetailingAZ2 күн бұрын
@ agreed but the Gtechniq protected much better as I demonstrated. The weave on the mats isn’t that much different than the trunk in my case. Either way I think they need to clarify what to expect on their site.

I'd use the gtechniq and colorlock side by side on a floor matt or area to see the difference in these products. Fabric coatings are expensive carpro, gtechniq, gyeon, 500ml is $60 average. @@timkinley1779 I think he’s talking about comparing the sealant on the carpet mats. I agree you shouldn’t put a dressing on rubber mats. That creates a slip hazard. I am okay with a matte finish protectant to add a little UV protection on plastics but it has to be matte and non greasy.

I wonder if Koch Chemie used some of the same components of motorplast in their formula? It's interesting that it smells fresh like Fresh Up which is nice, but for me, I'll stick with Gtechniq Smart Fabric. It's caustic yes, but it works extremely well. I also use CarPro Fabric Protector and it works similar to Gtechniq Smart Fabric. I watched another review over at Bruce's Garage regarding the HPC (he did a really nice in depth review of HPC and concluded basically the same thing as you about the product). I do like water based dressings, although I would use it mostly as a tire dressing probably, but not on the interior, but that's just me. I do see value in the HPC if a detailing professional was using it as a diluted product on various tasks from tires to exterior plastics, and at one to four, on the interiors. I did like that finish at 1/4. That looked great. I see a value in this product for sure. I am going to give both of these a try just to see what results I get on my own vehicles. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the review on these new KCx products Ryan…it was extremely helpful. Your results with the textile sealant definitely look to be disappointing if hydrophobics are any indication of performance. I had a similar experience with Carpro Fabric 2.0. Hopefully KCx does chime in especially since they highlighted the hydrophobics in their video. Maybe it still helps stain prevention or makes stains easier to clean even without the hydrophobics? My experience with fabric sealants is that they will eventually allow liquid to soak in if enough is poured on but surprising how quickly it happened in your demo. For HPC, can definitely see the benefit of being able to have one product for both exterior and interior and it did look nice at 1:4 on the interior. However, I don’t see it replacing PSS and Top Star for me either. Plus, even though I think most people consider Top Star just an interior dressing, KCx does say it does at least some cleaning which you wouldn’t get with HPC. Your new cabinets look so good!
