Very cool video and loved how you edited it with little to no fluff & filler. Beautiful build and seems to have absurd performance! Just got a new custom PC to handle all my video editing as well for my channel, and made a big jump from 16 GB of RAM to 64 GB, a new EVGA RTX 2080 Super GPU, and went with ASUS ROG Z370 with Intel and a Thermaltake Level 20 GT RGB case. I think your case looks better & has better airflow overall, and the finished product is amazing on yours! My next build is going to be the rare AZZA Pyramid case, which I have already, just no clue when I’ll have the time to do that. 😂 Love the videos on your channel Joe and hope you and your friends & family are all staying safe & healthy thru these crazy times and after the hurricane.

Everyone always go for the RTX 2080 Ti. I'm waiting for someone to surprise me and make a Threadripper build with two Radeon VII GPUs. Crossfire works with the Radeon VII, and DirectX 12 games inheritly support MGPU (Multi-GPUs) since that's native to the API coding of DX12. RTX 2080 Ti is a gamer focused GPU, where as the Radeon VII and specifically VEGA in general is a computational GPU, it's literally the GPU meant for creators, which is why Apple use them in their Mac Pros.

He literally tells us that he's a PC enthusiast that's been building PC's for a long time, yet, he also tells about his 'fast as shit' memory sticks that run at 4000MHz, which he 'doesn't know what that means'.... hahahaha. Seriously, this guy is a self-proclaimed PC building enthusiast with vast experience and doesn't even know what 4000MHz memory means? Too funny, love it.

I'm ball'n on a budget so I'm rock'n the 1950X on a X399 Phantom gaming 6. At 56, I've been doing this for a minute so I'm feel'n 'ya with the old tech. I remember when 7gig hard drives and 16 megabyte graphics cards where something to brag about. I'm a mac head at heart but I got tired of having to settle for well used equipment. Apple is way to proud of their stuff. So instead of buying another used mac pro, a few months ago I built the threadripper system I could afford. I thought about the hackintosh thing but honestly WIN10 LTSC isn't bad at all, not to mention a hacked together OS on my main system isn't very smart no matter how much I love MacOs. Anyway your shit's off the chain. Keep it push'n and I'll catch 'ya next time.

Really neat build Only nitpick would be to get a more appropriate cooler, the NZXT is for "normal" CPU's and Threadripper is physically much larger so the z73 doesnt quite cover it ;) Best would probably be a custom loop... the threadripper AIOs arent great... While you're at it, might watercooler the GPU as well ;)
@Lucaemar4 жыл бұрын
Also, regarding what you said about hard line, just make a soft tube loop to keep maintenance easy ;) ZMT still looks great and especially having the GPU under water makes a huge diff for noise

Joe, can you make a dev video on the process you take to build and deploy applications? I switched to digitalOcean from Hostgator because of you and man it's improved my devOps/workflow process, thanks to you. Could you also explain the rest of your workflow and dependencies/packages you use? I'm guessing you use Node/express, what are your must have modules (ejs, passport, pm2, etc?). How do you feel about site "builders" like wix/webflow? How does your company setup its rules/pay structures when it comes to building for clients?

Hey Joe, amazing video editing and PC! Now that you've had this beast for a few months, how are the CPU temperatures under full load? Is the Kraken Z73 being able to keep it cool even though it doesn't cover the entire Threadripper surface? I just got a 3970x and I'm trying to figure out if I should go with air cooling or AIO, since building a custom water loop isn't really an option for me right now... Thanks man!

generally not a good idea to run memory faster than 3600mts with a ryzen, it puts you out of sync with the IO die that connects the cores to the memory and it runs in 2:1 mode. which tanks performance, in a TR build with quad channel you can make up for this somewhat with bandwidth but you need to really push things to the limit. I think you might be better off clocking it to 3600 and tightening the timings
@Dan____4 жыл бұрын
never mind, caught the B-roll of the build its not 4000mts ram, it's 3200 c16. all good then.
