sounds amazing. the cool thing about the z400 is if you take a few minutes to maintain them they last forever. like literally forever.
@Mich1gen6 ай бұрын
I had Z400 and I can agree with you. Once I fixed everything that was neglected by previous owner it was just an oil change every few months and that was all. The only "constant" Issue I had with Z400 was, that every single bolt on that quad became loose and even those, that I have used locktite on. But to be honest, every single quad is reliable and lasts forever, if you maintain it as it should be. I had few quads over the years without almost zero issues.

You are correct. I have an 04. Never even had to adjust the Valves. Motor still Purrs quiet.

This quad looks 🔥 🔥 🔥! I think you should do a “competition series” for a build like this in the OEM+ style with maybe the Brewers, and a few others, maybe 2Vintage. Then go Top Quad style with it. That would be an amazingly epic series.

Beautiful build on the z400 mike I would put some antiseize on those carrier bolts and I’d pull the carrier back out and cover it in grease to make it slide back and forth easier those carriers are notorious for seizing well the bolts anyways. Can’t wait to see it in action.

Good call on the hood. Sucks about the trailer but should be able to get a good amount for it. We have a 14'x7' V-Nose with 78" ceilings - its a great all around trailer. Loaded up with (2) quads, gear, tools, and gasoline it's around 4500 lbs. And then we have a little 5'x8' ramp gate if we don't need the enclosed.

Mike, I’ve got that same Quinn torque wrench! I’ve got the fix for you lol so that button cycles the different modes, and that mode with the 4 zeros is some sort of angle mode where if you have to go like 30 ft lbs then a 1/2 turn you can use that mode for it. If it goes in that mode just keep the torque wrench still and flat and you will be able to go to the next mode once it’s still and knows you don’t need the angle sensor.

Hey Mike, sweet builds you have going! I’m glad you are finally getting into bikes as well! Just a recommendation, those stock skids are pretty crappy, I would recommend a TM designs or SXS skid plate for the KX. You don’t want to be bashing your frame rails or worse, putting a hole in your cases. Have fun!

I had a very similar coolant leak on my yfz450 that i did a top end rebuild on. After one ride it stoped. Never saw coolant in the oil, nor did i have to refill any coolant. But i had the same initial thought that i messed somthing up But it seemed to fix itself

That is so weird - I really think it was a drop that flew there or something - it's been days now, running the engine here and there and still no sign of it leaking.

@@jamiesmo91 I’ll try that, hey thanks 🙏,I live in Oregon and I only ride the Oregon dunes and on the chop I feel like the front shocks are Pogoing. My front the compression is turned all the way counterclockwise. Don’t know about the bottom wanted to try finding a the stock settings before I went in there and really messed with them. Thanks 🙏 again I’ll try this tomorrow.
@jamiesmo916 ай бұрын
@@joeypooschke7914 no worries mate. I just got rid of my 08 yfz450 and spent ages trying to find the sweet spot for the stock shocks cause I love jumping and too poor for expensive shocks lol. There's a few different settings I found with a quick Google search that others shared that seemed to work okay as well that you may want to look up if the stock settings don't work for you.

That's way overdue. Everyone does a change on a new bike after the first ride plus filter. Usually after 1 moto at the track 20 mins. After that I do 4 hours at most on oil filter every other change. Being your speed 4 hours is probably ok but 12 is very excessive.

So question ⁉️ is it still like it was back in the day where 4 strokes need to be double the cc to equal a two-stroke power ? When you were shopping you never considered getting a 450 instead of a 250 ?
@hutchdw776 ай бұрын
A modern 450 four stroke is as fast, and more controllable than a 500 2 stroke.
@twistedcranknation6 ай бұрын
450s are scary fast, and as someone who is still learning to ride, I'd say the 250 is plenty enough for him. I'm restoring a 250 2T myself and I think she's gonna be too much bike for me lol
@BigTree4126 ай бұрын
Ahh makes sense thanks guys .. I need to get a new dirtbike
@Berm_Blaster6 ай бұрын
A 450 4 stroke is equivalent to a 250 2 stroke. A 250 4 stroke is equal to a 125 2 stroke. He said he didn't want to get a 450 because he's new to bikes and wanted to learn on something more controllable. I think he would be fine on a 450 since he's not new to riding.
