I LOVE LOVE MY 2006 Z4 3.0si Roadster that I just bought last week! It had only 25 thousand miles and is in excellent condition! I love how it really wants to go! I haven't had this much fun darting around traffic ever! SOOOOO MUCH FUN!

Nice Z and good to see someone with passion about the car. I had a 3.0 roadster and loved it for the same reasons... Now looking for the M version! Some nice examples (and low miles) available at the moment for maybe £13k-15k. Hope you keep enjoying that lush machine.

The ESS flash gives us 8200 rpm, and BMW has said that this is safe and fine. They also said that ESS' supercharger will not insult the drivetrain one whit -- and their highest-boost system gives our S54 motor 520 HP!

In my experience you're not doing the car any favours by not revving it to it's redline. I've had two sporty cars that I've worked to death. The first was a SW20 174bhp mr2 that lasted me 8 years of regular redline action. At least 4 times a day on my commute I would redline the fuck out of that motor. When the rust eventually rendered the bodywork a no hoper I still sold it for £800 at 140,000 miles on the clock because the engine was sweet as a nut. Started 1st time and reved eagerly to 7250 and idled happy at 1250 with no seeking. Same deal with my current BMW320i. Thrashed the tits off it a couple of times a day right the way to it's redline at about 6500. Still revs like a stabbed rat. It's done 152,000 now. It look's a bit chatty with both front wings rusty but the engine is like new. Living in Scotland you get used to losing cars to rust. The amount of salt laid over the winters is like a car tax. My point is performance engines expect and need to be revved. It burns off carbon buildup in the cylinders and keeps it within the manufacturers expected tolerances. Anything else is not expected behaviour. I talked to a mechanic once that serviced Ferraris and he said the ones with the high mileages had far fewer problems than the ones with fewer miles. Cars are for driving as designed not storing. Luv and Peace.

Z4M roadster is a great car, with some modifications you can make it awesome… The oem brakes are the biggest downside of the car and you need to give that great S54 engine a lot of care. Mine is 10 years old and I'm still enjoying the car (95.000 miles) on street and track when the sun is out :) Strange that your roll over is silver instead of black.
@ultimateroadtrips8 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have always wandered why. I didn't specify it when new, and I ordered the car. I also spotted that the back of both seats are different, how about yours?
@Franzino8 жыл бұрын
+UltimateRoadtrips The back of my Z4M seats are both the same....normally the roll over hoops of the 2006 Z4M should be black...strange that this is not the case with your car.

Lovely video and great owners review.... What camera did you use the sound is very good what extra gears do you need for voice record... would love to do a review of my Z4M Coupe alpine white with red imola leather. I couldn't agree more with the points you made and your spot on I can do about 25-29 mpg depends how you treat the car.

I own an '07 Z4 M Coupe. That's "zee" for the Z and Coupe said like "coop". ;) To say I love this car is an understatement. I have to ask you though, are you aware the steering wheel adjusts for tilt and telescope? It looks all the way up and forward and it looks like it's REALLY far from you. :) Btw, if you really want some more exhaust noise (but little drone and not too loud at all) get some Stromung mufflers. The sound you hear when you heel and toe shift is to die for.
@ultimateroadtrips8 жыл бұрын
David Behr the steering wheel had probably been that way for the past 10 years! Will have a play when I take her out next, order me some sunshine and dry weather 👍

I love this car. The first sports car I've owned, and I'm by no means a BMW enthusiast. I do wonder if it will slowly lose value if I sit on it for too long though. Right now the prices seem pretty steady.
@benlevy93086 жыл бұрын
Andrew Blewski I have a Z4M as well. It’s possible that values might see a slight decrease in the next year or two, just as any used car. However, let’s follow the E46 M3 and E39 M5 values, which indicate that the desire is growing for pure, back-to-basics drivers’ cars with manual gearboxes, natural aspiration, no frills, etc. I think at worst, the value of the Z4M will continue to be relatively stable. Our car has a legendary engine, looks that kill, and a thrilling driving experience. Don’t sell.

I had the chance to buy a beautiful one Unfortunately someone else was quicker

Is that Interlagos blue ?, I seem to remember when the M5 came out, about the same year as yours 2005/6 there was a premium on that colour when people sold them on for a profit used.
@ultimateroadtrips8 жыл бұрын
Yes it is, it's a unique colour to M cars. The e60 M5 looked awesome in interlagos blue 👍

Nice to find this. I have one with ESS reprogrammed ECM, Eibach springs and Michilen Pilot Super Sports on it. It now has about 30,000 miles on it (has other garage friends), and it is, as Top Gear quoted, "Fred Flinstone's car" to me! True seat-of-the-pants modest-level sports car. And it is a sleeper. On track I destroy many cars (Mid-Ohio course here in Ohio) with her mean abilities! Cheers, Phil!

Great video! I'm looking at getting one of these, just test drove one and fell in love... what has your experience been with maintenance? How is reliability? I know you said for a Sunday fun-car it's not bad, but if it's a daily driver? Any problem areas? Also, is it possible to adjust the steering wheel position up and down? Or is it locked?
@ultimateroadtrips7 жыл бұрын
Pearson Sharp it's hard to say as I do such little mileage. I think it could get expensive if you were using it every day. The road tax is the biggest annual expense for me. Had no issues at all otherwise, but then I am only doing about 2,000 miles pa in mine, current mileage is about 38,000 I think. Still in original discs and pads and front tyres 👍

ah! you're right! i'm an idiot. going off on a tangent, have you ever heard the z4 being a girl's car? the only times i ever see a z4 is when i'm in the more affluent neighborhoods of los angeles, and none of the drivers are girls........i smell jealously from people still driving their dad's hand-me down ford explorers.

+Will Lowe I have heard of the Z3 as a females car, but the Z4 was aimed more at males, especially the Z4M. Maybe it didn't work as they haven't done another one!

As a Z3 3.0i driver I would disagree with you. Especially these days as Z3's tend to mostly be weekend fun cars like mine.

Friend, when you state that "one of the best things" about a car is the noise it makes, you immediately discredit your car's impact as a driving force. Only posers care about the sound. Keep that in mind, man. It's purely superficial.
@NASCARcanLicMehPoop7 жыл бұрын
Sound absolutely plays a role, a huge role if you're in to cars... you're missing out if you're not worried about sound haha
