Great update. A lot of great 60's and 70's music there.

Thanks James. Some good stuff there, some stuff I will probably trade off.

Like always nice video to watch. Have a good time playing all those records Scott.
@nolifetilmetal110 жыл бұрын
Some of those records might become traders or VCLT. I like a lot of classic rock, but honestly prefer the harder side of classic rock and heavy metal.
@holspa10 жыл бұрын
Scott Waters yes, i know you do like it harder then some of those bands but still nice to check them out and pass them on to others. Nice hobby. Stay metalllllllll.

Captured Live is the last Journey album that I can listen to. I spun it a few months ago and still dug it. Greg Rollie was great and needed to be there. I always liked his voice, too.
@nolifetilmetal110 жыл бұрын
I agree. Always like Rollie's earthy vocal style. His vocals actually play off well with Steve Perry's on those first few Perry/Journey records. After Rollie left, the band just went to poppy IMO.

Wow, what an update. I don't even know where to begin. Haha, I was about to note your crotch shot when you mentioned it. A great update. A lot of killer albums. I am definitely with you on our friends from the north turning us onto some new killer hard rock. I really love Moxy and Goddo, both I who I learned about from brother Lee and Ottavio. I am not a huge Stones fan, but they do have a couple of songs on every album that I really dig. I really like their albums from the 60s, a couple of which I will show in a later update. Great stuff. Take care brother.
@nolifetilmetal110 жыл бұрын
I like their stuff from the 60's, but my favorite couple albums are "Some Girls" and "Tattoo You", neither of which I own on vinyl yet. Goddo, Moxy & Trooper are all great Canadian bands. I also need to check out more April Wine.
@harmlessrebel86810 жыл бұрын
Let me know which April Wine albums you have. I see a number of their albums pretty regularly.
@nolifetilmetal110 жыл бұрын
I only have one April Wine record, First Glance.

I also got into Moxy some weeks ago, was really surprised. Awesome stuff for sure!
@nolifetilmetal110 жыл бұрын
Yes, I was surprised at how much I like them. Also really diggin' on Trooper. Heard them?
@666ToxikAsssault66610 жыл бұрын
Scott Waters Not yet, I think, but I will definitely check them out later. Thanks for the recommendation!
@666ToxikAsssault66610 жыл бұрын
Scott Waters The cover of their Flying Colors record seems somehow familiar to me, maybe I've seen it somewhere in record stores around. Just listened to a few songs from their first album, also really enjoyable (Hard)Rock, seems to be quite as hard to get as the Moxy 1 record over here though, haha.
@nolifetilmetal110 жыл бұрын
So far "Two for the Show" is my favorite from Trooper.
@blackmorerules10 жыл бұрын
Scott Waters Oooh, Two for the Show... I 'd vote hands down the first album. The song All of the Time is my fav. song ever by them.Reminds me UFO's Rock Bottom, or Triumph's Rock n Roll Machine for quality...

I saw Moxy in 2002 with Leggs Diamond and Saxon. Got showed poster autographed by all 3 bands. Moxy was really big in San Antonio.

Wow! That's cool. You should show that poster in a video.

Good Video, Scott. I always look forward too them . I always learn a lot from em'. btw Rare earth , Rocks. Dave from Vinyl Vault turned me onto them. . its crazy that when I was younger(43 now) I didn't pay attention to certain bands, for some reason or other. and gettn back into vinyl has been such a great way to discover new/old music, and at the same time is so very relaxing to me. especially when im Diggin at my fave record shop.. The Record Exchange in STL. Peace Brother ~ Shawn
@nolifetilmetal110 жыл бұрын
EXACTLY! I'm really enjoying discovering some new old music. Also agree that diggin' at my favorite record shops is very relaxing. Thanks for watching and for the encouraging post.

Nice share, Scott! You have piqued my interest in some of those Canadian bands that I kinda knew about but was hesitant to pick up. Fun Fact: I think that Rare Earth were the only white band on the Motown Label back then.
@nolifetilmetal110 жыл бұрын
I thought it was a cool story that the band suggested to Motown to call the label Rare Earth, and they did. Haha! Yes, Trooper, Moxy and Goddo are all worth checking out. Good Canadian hard rock.

good shhtuff Scott. Lots of Classic HR goodies. That Goddo live is great, it was recorded from a Church gig they did that aired live as a TV/FM radio simulcast . The cover of the Euro release is the gatefold pic with the destroyed seats. Love that 1st Moxy and the 3rd Ridin High, but the 2nd is right up there. Blare Moonrider and Out of the Darkness for me. Tommy Bolin is about 80 percent of that 1st LP. Frank soda is nuts live. Never seen the movie Candy, but sounds and looks interesting by the cover.:]. That Quo box set is sweet. cheers Bro
@nolifetilmetal110 жыл бұрын
From what I've been told the movie "Candy" is a basically a sex comedy. Even if that soundtrack suck, the cover art alone is worth owning. Haha! Do you have any Frank Soda? I've not heard of him before receiving that record in the mail.
@noisespektrum541610 жыл бұрын
I do have some Frank, and ive seen him live. he is wild in concert, sets his head on fire. . The band were originally called "Thor and the imps" in the 70s, Thor (the bodybuilder guy ) went solo and released "keep the dogs away" and frank then named the band after himself. The Imps stuff is tricky to find on vinyl even here. great score. cheers bro.

Hahahaha, great opening! We certainly don't want to kill the music! Interesting take on the Journey records, I'm not a huge fan of the early ones either, honestly, but I've managed to live my whole life without ever hearing Captured, which is kind of incredible, now that I'm thinking about it. It's ok to hate a record though, haha! Man, sounds like we're in the same boat with Sly.... I used to have a bunch, what happened to 'em? Wow, look at that Quo box!
@MetalTheologian10 жыл бұрын
Ok, so I just listened to a few songs off Captured, and I've gotta say, I think it's pretty much crap. I still get sentimental about the song "Lights", though... and I haven't lived in SF since 2008. Sigh.
@nolifetilmetal110 жыл бұрын
Metal Theologian I just can't seem to get into much Journey outside of "Infinity" and "Evolution". When they had Gregg Rolie sharing vocal duties with Steve Perry, I thought they were much better. That Quo box is pretty cool. The live record is probably the best part of it.
@MetalTheologian10 жыл бұрын
Scott Waters I'll tell you what I *can* get into outside of Infinity and Evolution: Neal Schon's afro and mustache on the cover of Next. If only the album lived up to that standard of quality, it would be one of the greatest records ever!
@FlipSideCT10 жыл бұрын
Great to see you hold up some Stones. Moonlight Mile (Sticky) is on the top 3 of my Stones songs. Keith actually does not play on this song....it is Mick Taylor, open guitar tuning and fantastic leads. Micks voice is just phenomenal. Listen in headphones in the dark. Great metaphors/lyrics, about a cocained evening (as far as I know and interpret). .I am getting into Status Quo now also. Cool vinyl update. steve
@nolifetilmetal110 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how I missed out on a band like Status Quo having been such a huge music fan/collector over the years. I guess we can't know and like everything. The Stones are a band I like and respect, but they've never been a favorite. Sticky Fingers is, of course, a classic. It might be blasphemy to say, but I actually like albums such as Some Girls and Tattoo You the best.
@metalguru6710 жыл бұрын
I am huge fan of the Rolling Stones, and those are killer albums
@nolifetilmetal110 жыл бұрын
Yes. Two classics. I'd like to get clean copies of Tattoo You and Some Girls as well. Two of my personal faves.

Killer update Scott!! Lots of bands I haven´t heard of before. Love the music in the background. I got to check out Moxy and Goddo. I already saw those albums in some of Lj´s vids and he already said how great these bands are. Now the Quo-boxset is indeed a superb compilation to get to know Status Quo in their 70s periode. The LIve album was also released in 1984 as a Live-LP named Live At The N.E.C. It´s an okay album but by far not as good as their Live-masterpiece from 1977. Great to see how you´re getting into Quo more and more. I´m curious what´s going to follow in the next videos! Take care Ben
@nolifetilmetal110 жыл бұрын
You will love Moxy and Goddo. Also recommend Trooper from Canada. They fall right in line with the other two. I really want to get Status Quo - Piledriver. Everyone seems to say that I will love that record. Gonna keep an eye open for a good copy of it. Guess I'll have t keep an eye open for the 1977 live album as well.
@ryanrocks8410 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the recommandation Scott! I´ll have to check em out. Piledriver is a great album indeed though not as good as the 4 follow-up-albums haha. It´s got some killer songs on it like Paper Plane, Don´t Waste My Time and the immortal "Big Fat Momma" take care buddy Ben
@mrjape7110 жыл бұрын
Quite an update, Scott! That Status Quo box set looked pretty cool. Your video "inspired" me to ask you that do you have Leathür Records label version of Mötley Crüe's "Too Fast for Love"? I sure would like to get that! It must be pretty rare and expensive if anyone can find it. Have a peaceful Sunday, Jarkko / MyVinylBar
@blackmorerules10 жыл бұрын
As usual, great video you have done for us. The Status Quo Live at the NEC is the true Quo to me. I don't care for their really early stuff... When you put that Flash album in front of you, it looks like your working out is paying off, lol.
@nolifetilmetal110 жыл бұрын
I knew someone would get a kick out of seeing me put that Flash album in front of me. Haha! I have not played the live album yet, I played some of the 60s and early 70's stuff so far.

Scott Waters You holding it there got me in trouble with my wife. I had it paused there when she walked in. She gave me "The Look".[JUST KIDDING!]
@themusicisreversable904010 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing, now I have to go check out Moxy and hope to find it in my next crate dive. Nice Hendrix stash! In regards to Journey, bet you mean "pre- Open Arms" once that song came out, they were all over the place! Good point about the keyboard player switch. Jonathon Cain was from The Baby's I think and thus more 'commercial' Regards to the Rolling Stone zipper record, was wondering if your record is ok in the area where the zipper would line up with the record. Told that many copies came ruined because of the zipper. Just curious.
@nolifetilmetal110 жыл бұрын
You know, I'll have to double check the vinyl to see the the zipper damaged it. I haven't played that record yet. I actually thought about that zipper too. I was going to leave it out of my record rack so that it doesn't ruin the album that will be smashed up next to it. Yes, Open Arms is perfect example. That is the exact sort of "high school dance" music I was referring to.
@themusicisreversable904010 жыл бұрын
For me, the Escape Album was the big album that introduced me to them, but it confirmed who they were to me as a kid. I have heard of the previous songs (wheels in the sky, lights, any way you want, etc etc) but was to young to care back then. Right when Escaped came out, music was having a bigger effect on me as a person back then (jr high days) And I get the sappy stuff, back then would rather listen to the sappy stuff than to listen to boy George or Duran back in the day, Let me know if you find damage to that Stones record. Peace out.

Hi scott, i see that you enjoy classic rock from canada. The first moxy is one of the best records ever made in classic rock history. Another band worth checking out is wireless. Also from canada. Their no static album from 80 is a real classic. It,svery adventurous mel hard rock. Great arrangements, guitar and songs. Produced by geddy lee from rush. So quality is guaranteed. My alltime favorite bands from canada are rush and triumph. Thanks from the Netherlands.
@nolifetilmetal17 жыл бұрын
yes sir. April Wine, Goddo, Moxy, Trooper, Max Webster, Triumph, Lynx, etc. All good stuff. I'll look into Wireless. Thanks for the tip. Rush would top my list as well, especially their 70's material which I think cannot be touched.
@edgarversaan20687 жыл бұрын
Some other can. bands well worth checking out are: the first mad cats { like max webster } , the first tworecords by harlequin, teaze - tour of japan and one night stand, a foot in cold water, the first and rarest by the hunt - same, snakeye - shape up or ship out { private } , cinema face { private like zon and Styx great } and lots more. Best, edgar.
@nolifetilmetal17 жыл бұрын
I have one Teaze record. I think it's One Night Stand actually. Their albums don't show up here very often. I have a couple Harlequin records as well, they are a bit more on the AOR side of the spectrum, but I like them.
@edgarversaan20687 жыл бұрын
The best teaze record is tour of japan. I highly recommend the following records: wireless - no static.Produced by geddy lee, the first hunt from 77 and cinema face - same. If you like Styx, than you like cinema face.

Hi Scott, you have a awesome music collection, I have to say that many of my collection I have is because I spend hours reading your reviews so... thank you!! Can you tell me who's the artist and the song in 3:00?
@nolifetilmetal110 жыл бұрын
Luki Ariza Thank you. The band playing in the background at 3:00 is Kick Axe. I believe the song is called "Prelude" and is live on the Vancouver Seeds 2 LP.

Well digital download rule, of course! That's why I am part of the DDC! I like Glass Harp. I have one Glass Harp record. Agree, Stones are mood music for me. I have to be in the mood for them. Never a favorite band, though I do like some from time to tome. Porn? Where?
