I'm considering buying a few Ultra-DI Pro di800 for some larger situations. - I run FOH at some of Chicago's largest venues as well as Engineer at several recording studios. I can not find out, from any source, how the phantom power works vs the mains power. 3 questions which are important to me: 1) if not using mains, but I'm using all 8 channels, does phantom have to be on for every channel, or can just one channel with phantom power the whole unit? 2) Does the front power switch control mains and phantom, or just mains? 3) what are the specs for phantom, does it require 48V, or will some of the lower voltage versions of phantom work? So with the Link cable in mind, could you theoretically send a cable from all the 1/4" Link jacks to front of house for a front of house mix?

In that case, you'd use the XLR output on the back to go to the front of house. That's the main function of the DI, as the XLR cable affords you to be able to send the audio better far distances, like from the stage to the FOH mixing board. You could use the 1/4" jack to go to an amp on stage for extra monitoring.
