I had done 175 km in these boots so far in dry weather- very pleased with them. Then I decided to walk the West Highland Way wearing these boots. The forecast was rain for most of the week, but that doesn't put me off. Day one was dry and then day two there was the odd shower- my feet were damp, but I didn't think much about it. Day three was constant rain and my feet were sodden wet in the first half hour. By the end of the day- my feet weren't in the best of condition being wet all day, but I carried on on day four- wet feet again and by this time, my feet were worse for wear. On the morning of day five- I had to call short my walking holiday because of the state of my feet as there was a massive fail with the goretex lining on both boots. I emailed La Sportiva directly about this and I am very saddend to say that I did not get a sympathetic response which made things even worse. I am a seasoned walker and have worn many brands of boots etc. La Sportiva- you have let me down and my trekking holiday was cut short and ruined.

@Montañero Paisa I've had a few pairs of salmon boots. After long continuous use- the Goretex membrane gave up too, but slowly and not suddenly like my La Sportivas. Both boots have fitted really well. I absolutely loved my La Sportiva boots and it was a shame that they suddenly started to leak in such a bad way

Were you wearing rain pants? Did they fall down past the top at all times, so that no rain ran down the pants and INTO the boots vs. THRU the Gore-Tex? Without details as to exactly HOW the rain got into your boots, this anecdotal experience is highly suspect. Anyone would be foolish to believe they leaked.

I use the Ultra Raptors for summer walking on mainly dry trails and they have been by far- may favourite trail shoe. Today I discover they had brought out this Mid Gtx version, and I ordered a pair straight away. Can't wait to get out on some backpacking trips to use them!

Well, I recently bought pair of these... in size 46, which I _thought_ to be a correct size for me. I wear 46 size Salomon (for running), Hoka 46 also, and apart from casual streetwear which could be half size smaller or so, this is my go-to running/hiking/workout size where foot is expected to expand. However, with La Sportiva it feels soo roomy, it feels like it is at least half size too much for me. So it would be about 45 or 45.5 for me in La Sportiva. I stuck with my 46 Raptors - and remedied my sizing problem with inserting some insoles in them, lifted my foot inside a shoe a bit so now they feel fine. Now that's off the table, I could say a couple of things about these Raptors after walking 100km in them... First off, these are superb shoes. They feel comfortable on asphalt as they do on trail. Feel of the shoe is really good even tho they seem a bit hard, non giving when you try to manipulate them in your hands... I would recommend these to any hiker, even for people that do mixed terrain like me. Shoe will wear off faster tho if you do a lot of asphalt. All in all, I'm very satisfied, but next time I'll be extra careful on sizing.

Can you run comfortably down the mountain with them or make them uncomfortable? I had the raptors, a marvel to run. What do you suggest?

My thoughts exactly, did you find out? And what are they like for bad weather runs?

Highly recommended to get a size up AND get the Wide. Your feet will thank you.

I agree with the size up but for the wide model... not for everyone. I much prefer the normal version... so it depends on your feet... we are all different
