As a beginner, this has been the most helpful video I've seen. It feels like the whole game has just opened up to me and now I know exactly what I ned to work on. Thanks, James!

I actually love how you talk to the viewer like they don't already know 100% of the terminology. You have no idea how helpful that is; great video.

I was trying to learn luke by trying to copy all the perfect knuckle combos I saw in tournaments, that didn't get me anywhere for a week. Once I focused on his pressure, meaty setups, simple drive impact, corner, and punish combos I jumped out of silver to almost plat. After I had those basics down I started working on the optimal combos and made it to plat 2 so far. Work smarter, not harder.

James, I don't know if you'll read this, but you've always been my ABSOLUTE favorite commentator, ever since vanilla SF4. If theres a tourney and you're doing the commentary, my hype doubles. Love from Brazil, keep being awesome!

You are such a nerd, but the best kind. Not often do you find others who genuinely have love for everything including the game itself. Kudos for being genuinely you. Thanks for the insight and all that you've done for this community

Casually playing fighting games most of my life and have been trying to improve for the past 4 or 5 years and I gotta say, this is one of the best explanations of flowchart and how a fighting game round can go. I've learned so much just now, watching this. Thank you so much!

This has been an excellent series. The concepts and your descriptions have done wonders to help me (and I'm sure others) understand how to think while playing fighting games. Also, you are a great speaker. You take proper pauses and put emphasis in the perfect places. I'll definitely recommend this series to anyone I meet wanting to learn how to play fighting games. Thank you!

This video is awesome. I've been a fighting game fan ever since i was a kid, but i've never had a keen grasp of what the flow of a match actually consists of. Really looking forward to elevating my game. Liked & subscribed. Thanks, Chen!

One of the easiest mixup is to subvert your opponent's perception of your character. Jump forward as a zoner, play defensive as a rushdown, go fullscreen away as a grappler(if you are confident in letting your opponent win). Round start jump forward as Guile typically isn't expected and can catch other fireball characters like Dee Jay off. I've been told that run up grab in Strive is highly unorthodox but I love clicking run as Axl and throw looping my friend. It's still a risk though. Putting your character out of their preferred range isn't really beneficial unless you've successfully mixed the opponent so don't rely on out of style attempts like these unless your opponent is consistently getting clobbered by it.

Thanks for another piece of the puzzle! Just for the record Chen Sama, when i used to chide my friends (At the *height* of the Street Fighter 2 phenomenon our entire FGC was 4 guys, 1 girl, and a cat.) with taunts of "Wow, you guys're gonna' need a *flow chart."* it was supposed to be a joke! xD Yet here we are........playing Street Fighter is SO much different from winning at Street Fighter! o.o

I started in Iron League and I'm about to hit Gold with basic reads and pokes; zero combos or tricks. At the core, this game is about the neutral and information management. Even if you're a slow learner, practice with purpose.

@UltraChenTV - The background music volume is a bit high, it becomes tiresome after a while when trying to listen what you are saying. Also the mic or audio sound a bit too compressed (loudness), which is tricking your ears into believing the overall volume is higher than it is, and again makes it triesome to listen to for long durations.
@UltraChenTV
@UltraChenTV Жыл бұрын
I actually thought the BGM was too quiet. O_o Maybe my ears are bad. As for microphone, man, I really wish I had someone who could check my setup. Audio is the worst for me, and knowing what I can do to improve the mic sound is just beyond my scope of knowledge. I don’t even know what “too compressed” sounds like. :-(

Agreed 100%. However, I’m trying something different this time. The older First Attack videos, I put in a TON of work. Slides, screen caps, examples, etc. And no one watched any of them. I burned out super fast making them. It just wasn’t worth the effort at that point. So I’m trying some advice I was given to try and make these educational videos as simple as possible, low editing, etc. That way I can keep making them, never feel burned out, and thus I can keep making them. It’s an experiment for sure. But the other method CLEARLY didn’t work.

I want to, but I’m trying an experiment. A lot of older educational videos I did I put in examples, I used slides, I did all this editing work. Took me DAYS to make the videos. And no one watched them. And I spent a LOT of time essentially for nothing. Sajam told me that maybe the secret was to make educational videos that don’t require as much work, don’t worry about editing and examples and all that. So I’m trying that route. See if it works and if it allows me to keep making these videos and not get burned out by maximum effort and low rewards. My previous First Attack 2020 was super detailed, and just stopped part way through because I got sooooo discouraged from editing. :-(

My goal is to humiliate and dominate noobs and bad players. I will AFK if my opponent is: higher ranked, uses meta characters, plays on console, uses wifi. I have three monitors, so I can easily just AFK while I watch live streams or play games on my other monitors.
