Street Fighter 6's Training Mode makes it easier than ever to study not just your techniques, but your opponent's as well. Being able to set the training dummy to try a reversal on block with the exact move you want so you get used to predicting a counter attack, WITHOUT having to record the reversal yourself, is a game-changer. It goes a long way towards helping you defend against different kinds of things.

I got into FGs with first attack and now I'm helping my friends get into Granblue and SF6 with this series. Thanks for your work James.

Woo. One thing i learned when playing rank in my bronze days. People dont block like at all. You can meaty all day and will take the round. If youre on the defensive. Just block their unsafe move and you got an easy counter.

One of my favorite things in Strive is when playing against my friend I would just see how long I can block and tech grab. Correctly calling defensive maneuvers is almost as fun as calling offensive options but you need a bit of both for a better experience.

i think what beginner have to understand if this is not already the case is that when you re in defense is that the opponnent attacking you is also taking risk too if he don't want to stop to apply pressure on you, and part of the solution is to recognize where he is taking this risk.

How is it a bad character if they don't get opened up? 7:31

I meant if a character doesn’t get to open you up if I can give you a single defensive solution, then that character is a bad character. Sorry it that wasn’t clearer!

@@UltraChenTVIf you are not being opened up then that's good on your part right? You're playing good defense!

@@UltraChenTVSo if I ask you to help me defend against this character and for example you say block low I have a bad character?
@UltraChenTV
@UltraChenTV 9 ай бұрын
What I mean is this: if a character has a mixup and you ask me, “How do I defend against this mixup?”, if I can tell you, “Just do such and such and you can always escape the mixup!” then the character that you are fighting against that is trying to mix you up isn’t a strong character. Because if there’s a single answer to the mixup, it’s NOT a mixup. A mixup is supposed to be a guess on your part between at least two options. YOUR character isn’t bad if you can defend against the opponent super easily. The OPPONENT character is bad if there is an easy answer to their mixups.

Algorithm comment: Thanks for this serie James, it's very inspiring. I am playing SF for 6 months now and play still pretty scrubby but all these ressources help a lot.
