It's kinda neat hearing what you have to say. Especially with the whole thing in regards to the Greed Layer OST. Personally, I think Greed has some of the best music, but I do admit that 6-1 has the most nostalgiac music. But 4-2 is just so awesome.

I feel like Heresy's asthetic is actually pretty good contextually, both with all of the layers before it and the layer after it, violence. Nothing before Heresy screams "hell" aside from Gluttony, but even Gluttoney doesn't do it the way Heresy just *does*, so the absolute shock value that is seeing an actual "hell" themed layer really sets itself apart despite the asthetic actually being a more generic hell style. Also not to mention violence is looking like a stark contrast from the previews... TLDR: I just think the asthetic for Heresg isn't bland because of the layers constrasting it before and after it.

this list is really good but personally i would swap greed and wrath because imo wrath has really great and replayable levels, an amazing soundtrack, and fishing. while greed does also have good and replayable levels i just dont think theyre as good as wrath and as you said the soundtrack is a little forgettable aside from duel plus it has a not very fun secret level heresy still on top though

something you didnt mention directly about prelude & limbo, that for me felt super important was how they made you feel completely trapped in these fake little mechanical cubes, at first truly, and then limbo gives you the illusion of freedom with the windows xp screens for me this made the payoff so much greater when the game truly started to open up in the city and the sand levels. it set the precedent that i thought i was going to be trapped forever and then broke it but kept me trapped in hell. most important on a first playthough as you said tho, so doesnt change much there anyway epic video, fuck pontiff he can eat my buckler

Wow that's actually a pretty fun video! I like your style of humour, the pacing is great and the editing is pretty good. If I was to make my own, I'd do: 7. Gluttony, 6. Lust, 5. Prelude, 4. Limbo, 3. Greed, 2. Wrath, 1. Heresy -I hate how Gluttony has great design but just lacks any visual interest. What I would've loved to see it be would have been like the level "All guts, no Glory" by William in the tundra level editor (look it up, it's truly one of the most impressive things I've seen). P-1 feels kind of boring when you know what P-2 is like, the lack of gauntlet really starts to show when you replay it afterwards -Lust is incredibly overrated, the level design is fine but still just not as great as every other layer. It's still very decent like everything else though -Prelude doesn't need really anything to be said, it's good, and that's it -Limbo serves such a good introduction to how the game likes to surprise the player and continues to teach the player new things like the nailgun and skull keys -Greed is great, you pretty much explained everything -Wrath is great too, it's just barely above Greed because of the slightly easier to read style (Greed makes it hard to see enemies at times, at least in my opinion, even with outlines on), I did wish the Leviathan fight had more setpieces, maybe sunken ships in the distance or something? The empty platform and just the Leviathan looked a little bit boring, but still great as usual -Heresy has such a great atmosphere, I think that it does look a tiny bit boring in a way since the geometry is pretty rudimentary if you really pay attention to it, but the level design is peak. P-2 is an amazing spectacle and the gauntlet truly feels like it was perfected for the best experience possible. The Gabe2 fight is spectacular and the lighting is absolutely genius

IMO 7. Gluttony (Glory song and Gabriel introduction is cool but outside of that enviroment in 6-1 is boring as hell while 6-2 is cool but shafted by being boss stage). 6. Prelude (Swordmachine and Cerberus fight are such iconic moments it makes me like bit better than Gluttony) 5.Lust (It feels incomplete without mid boss fight and I agree setting was underused). 4.Limbo (Great introduction to real game with V2 and 1-3 and idea behind setting is cool) 3. Heresy (would be on second place if it was not two levels layer. Its just solid and Gabriel monologue is just perfection) 2. Greed (Love setting, levels are enjoyable outside of 4-3 and V2 rematch is pure hype) 1. Wrath (amazing setting, all levels are good, Ferryman was setup so well, 5-3 is the most enjoyable level in the game, only flaw is that Leviathan is too easy.

Music in greed is actually my favorite in the game and 4-3 is a cool level to me,featuring interesting idea, but what would be much cooler in this level is that making diffenet enemies spawn depending on how you light up the level(firing a weapon,using skull, soap, using torch). Overall I agree with your ranking(so don't beat me pls),but I think that first act is worse in terms of gameplay just because it's prepares you on the first playthrough, where you don't have much firepower.It's kinda like prelude to the second act. But 3-1 could have been harder(on my first playthrough 6-1 was much harder to prank than 3-1). What I think, the game need something like Master level campaign after the release of full game to bring all acts on the same level of difficulty,while featuring better enemy placing and pacing.

I was expecting to disagree with something in this video but I agree with all of the placements, wrath would've been 2nd place for me if it wasn't for the fact that leviathan is the worst boss in the game by a mile. Also contrary to every ultrakill video on KZbin gluttony is not inside of king minos, hakita just wanted to put the level exit in minos' mouth.

Do people actually like greed? I love the boss fight but GOD, after doing the challenges/secrets, I hate it a lot more, ESPECIALLY 4-2. I usually don't have to look up the challenges, but trying to kill the insurrectionist in under 10 seconds was too painful for my poor soul. 4-3 was also a pain trying to find the secrets and awkwardly trying to figure out how to finish the challenge. The secret level was fun but the Lust and Wrath had way more interesting secret levels too

i've yet to come up with a proper ranking of my favorite layers, but the 2 that i have the strongest opinions about are lust and greed. although i'm not a fan of sheer heart attack (shoutout jojo) and death at 20,000 volts (cuz i get lost all the time,) the lore in lust is what got me hooked on the game and i love the set pieces, mainly minos' shambling corpse. greed, on the other hand, *would* be another one of my favorites on paper because of its dope set pieces and lore, but i just really don't like its levels. a shot in the dark is easily the worst level in the game, and slaves to power's lackluster platforming and odd enemy placement makes it to be a very mid experience, especially for one that late in the game. god damn the sun is a much more interesting beginning level. nonetheless, lust is not my favorite layer and greed is not my least favorite. i'm still not sure on which layers would be ...🤔🤔🤔

9:20 I've come to disagree. these takes were extremely mid I am sorry sir. You did lust so dirty. Its horrible. Lust is better than Limbo at LEAST. If it were me, it'd be this. 7. Prelude (obvious shortcomings but its an intro.) 6. Gluttony (Good for your first run through, kinda bland afterwards) 5. Limbo (Too liminal) 3/4. Wrath/Lust (Interchangable. Both have 2 really good levels and 2 really ehh levels. Everything else is perfect AND SHEER HEART ATTACK IS GOOD YOU NINCOMPOOP) 2. Heresy (Amazing, almost perfect. It unfortunately lands at the final layer of the act. If it had a bit more content it would be perfect.) 1. Greed (Its perfect. Music is banger you trippin. 4-1 is Gold, 4-2 is Gold, 4-3... we don't talk about 4-3, and 4-4 is a solid Silver.)
