Thanks for coming along with Ash and I on this expedition, in search of the best fishing spots within a reasonable hiking distance.
We had a great time bouncing from lake to lake enjoying the peaceful beauty of a primitive area in eastern Utah.

That little stove works really well. Ideal for when fires bans. Around here, we can use fire for cooking as long as it's contained. Not to mention in snowy conditions or ice fishing. It's so hard to cook over a fire while ice fishing.

I'm not a dog lover but liked your tribute to Ash and the companion she is. It reminded me of a comment on another forum about dogs being mans best friend. The test is: if you lock your dog and your wife in the trunk of your car and come back four hours later, which one will be happy to see you? Love your videos and products.

Great Video, Living in the south east of the UK I am truly envious of the wonderful wilderness you have in your back yard. .Great idea with the Swedish torch and firebox. gonna try it next time I get out. thanks
@fireboxstove
@fireboxstove 7 жыл бұрын
I think you'll really like the Swedish fire torch method, but keep in mind that it has a heat cycle that runs very hot at first, then tapers off leaving you with excellent hot coals for grilling or simmering. I try to plan my meal in such a way as to take advantage of that heat cycle, usually boiling during the hottest phase, but there are other cooking projects that work well with very high temperatures.

I also spent a lot of time in the same area where you were the last 3 years in a row doing full scale search and rescue operations. It's very beautiful and vast. Thanks Bill! I really need to work on my frying skills, I can see how the skin could be really good, but the way I cook it with the cover on top makes the skin less appetizing. It's not bad, but the texture isn't great. Cheers!

First vid I watched of yours- really enjoyed it! Hammock camping and fishing in a place like that- how could life get any better? Ash seems well behaved, unlike my feisty 7yr old yellow lab... Thanks for sharing!

That was great vid, nothing here in England like that. And yes who needs human company when you've got your dog, best friend and loyal. I'd proberly spend whole of trip looking for my dog, can't even let him off lead he'd be gone in seconds lol. He would prob sneak up when I've cooked, steal the food then take off again like he does indoors haha love him so much tho.

Awesome country, Steve. Thanks for taking us! Some country I'll probably never be able to otherwise see. And definitely much different than the Eastern woodlands! As for your fishing technique especially backpacking, hey, whatever puts one on the plate. Been there, done that! It was a pleasure seeing Ash, truly man's best friend! Where did Ash find his backpack? And were your hash browns dehydrated like your Idahoian scallops? Again Steve, thanks for sharing! And if for some reason I ever end up in that neck is the woods, I'll have to remember... Dog Lake! 😉👍

+JD right?? Thanks JD! Yes, the hash browns were dehydrated. The dog pack id one I got years ago, Jandd is the brand. Excellent quality and design. I've owned others, but none better. Cheers, Steve
