Solution: Buy denatured alcohol from marine shops that are one tier down from the most high-profile marine and fisheries supply shops in-person (because the biggest most popular chains up to double the price). $14 to $15 a gallon which is cheaer than 91% isopropyl alcohol and with none of the significant drawbacks of isopropyl alcohol 🤌

Well Steve and Sean, Steve I really enjoy your videos. You two certainly lost me on this one. I was not expecting cooking out with Julia Childs in the back country. Keep up the good work you have good videos. I'm just not into watching a cooking channel. But I do love watching most all your videos

I wasn't here for the live cast, Steve, but I have to ask: Was it really a Firebox Stove video without "Umm, Coffee Time?" 😁 The phone camera did a decent job, but this viewer who watches on a laptop would definitely prefer the horizontal format! I just got to the point of the video where someone commented on the plastic-coated handles. Before the second Arab oil embargo killed our small-town business, I sold high-performance auto parts in the 1970s. I don't recall the maximum temperature they would handle, but ignition (spark plug) wires we sold that were insulated with silicone rubber could tolerate very high temps without deteriorating--have you considered using that material? I missed the timing for "Merry Christmas!" So, let me wish you and yours a Happy & Prosperous New Year now!

You've got that temperature control down solid. Most folks use too much heat cooking bacon, and especially eggs, over a fire.
@fireboxstove4 күн бұрын
Bacon can be tricky especially if you're not patient. I like to start hot then bring the temperature down as it cooks which leaves you with the perfect temperature for the eggs once the bacon is done.

How did you store the meat in your backpack and how long did you carry it before cooking?
@fireboxstove4 күн бұрын
That depends on what time of year it is. If the nights are cold I can usually go a couple days if they start out frozen and I keep them insulated and in my sleeping bag.
