Ultralight Fishing for Bluegill with Gulp Minnows

This is video footage from an afternoon of ultralight fishing. I was casting a 1/64oz jig and 1" berkley gulp minnow along the shoreline to catch whatever fish were willing to bite. I caught numerous bluegill, largemouth bass, and smallmouth bass. It was a fun day of ultralight fishing.

My favorite way to fish. I usually go with 4lb line and 1/32nd magnet. I may have to go back to 2 lb to see the difference. I learned this from you in another video. Makes fishing fun.

Bluegill,s are a lot of fun to catch.Pretty soon as the water temperature drop,s they will follow the thermocline and get harder to catch.I cant put bluegill,s in my tank if the water temperature is 60 degree,s or less, or they will die from the colder temp,s.Ive found it out the hard way.Cold doesn't affect the goldfish at all.I started using them after watching you and they work great.

I always liked Gulp Crickets like what Uncle Steve used to catch a bunch of Bullheads with. I've never had any luck with the minnows.

You've always recommended the same camera.. I've seen "GOPRO" quality videos from you since I can remember subscribing! What's your honest opinion on your camera setup. Would you rather have a cheap go pro? Does the your camera overheat too much? The video quality is awesome even in low light but how does it do on SD storage? Maybe your thinking I should ignore this guys questions and just make a video about said questions... ME: I'D WATCH THAT JUSTIN!

Other than overheating in direct sun, which seems to be a problem with all action cameras, I don’t have any complaints. Would I rather have a GoPro? No. All of my friends that have go pros have had issues with them. I have been running the same two cameras for a few years now. If it ain’t broke, why fix it? As far as storage goes, I use 64gb memory cards. Filming in 1080p at 30fps, I get 8 hours and 42 minutes of storage space which is more than enough to film my trips.

I'm watching your whole UL playlist, and I see what you catch but I gotta ask, why do you limit hyourself to this 1 lure ? There is a whole world of UL lures that work really well, from plastics to crankbaits, marabou jigs, different spinner combinations almost anything you can imagine.

Those gulp minnows are working great for me, since I learned about them from you. Is that at Melton hill dam? I guy I work with has been going there a lot. He loves it down there. Looks like you have some good luck with those baby large mouth. Lol. They are pretty fun to catch.

I use the same setup but will often times just use a heavier jig head to get down to deeper depths. I try to look for rocky areas that will heat up on sunny days. Often times they will move up shallower on those days.

I absolutely love the Berkeley gulp. I’ve caught everything around my area using them. I have boxes and boxes of cranks and jerkbaits for saugeye but I’ve caught more than every time put together using hard baits vs the gulp. Fan question lol, what are those boots? Look nice!
