Ultralight Fishing the Eurotackle Leech

Eurotackle makes a lot of great soft plastics and I decided to try out the Eurotackle Leech out of their Micro Finesse section. I fished the Eurotackle Leech on a small canal in southern Florida looking for smaller sunfish and cichlids. After experimenting with a couple different jigheads, I think I found one that's perfect for the leech. Being only .75 inches, the Eurotackle Leech is tiny and as a result needs tiny jigheads and hooks. The .5g teardrop shaped jighead with a size 16 hook worked best. I ended up catching a couple different species on the Eurotackle Leech and I'm looking forward to using this lure again in the future.

Not a bad catch for an hour of fishing! That 3# test would be beyond me with all those weeds around! The snakehead was probably attracted to all the commotion... and looking for a meal. They'll hit soft plastics, but that one would have destroyed that 3# line! Those things can live in a mud-puddle! I caught them all over Broward Co. when I lived there.

The 3 pound test just makes things more fun, but whenever I fish it I try to fish it in open areas. I noticed the last couple years the snakeheads were moving more south. I see them regularly in southern Broward County now. I think they were rather restricted to north of 595 as recently as a couple years ago. Not the case anymore.

Another variety of cichlid, I am amazed that there are so many different species. Interesting. Was wondering why you didn't hop down onto the edge of the water to land that Mayan would like to have seen it. I enjoy your videos.

That cichlid has my mind spinning. What an addition to your life list. If you were me on vacation in Naples and had one day to make the drive over. Would you pick this spot or the spot in your other video. I was mostly looking for spotted sunfish and Jaguar cichlids but this new cichlid is pretty cool

If I only had one day and was in Naples, I'd fish Tamiami Trail. Plenty of different species around. Spotted sunfish are very common there, jaguar cichlids are not common, but I do catch them somewhat regularly there, and there is a bunch of other cool stuff there.

I don’t know how familiar you are with areas of south Florida, I grew up in margate, and grew up fishing the C-14 canal. As well as the Everglades, and canals around my neighborhood.
