Today was about the FUN of ultralight fishing. I took out my BFS combo and looked for anything in the pond that would bite. The day was VERY successful!

love ultra light jig fishing. Around here it is mostly for Redfin Perch (like a big Yellow Perch), trout and native Australian Yellowbelly. Pick up some Murray Cod and other stuff along the way. On the coast we hit Bream, flathead, whiting and other Australian coastal species. Great fun on 2 - 6 lb line. Now, try trying a fly as a dropper above the jig. Something like a wooly bugger or streamer.

Its hilarious to me how fishing has progressed in America ? When I arrived in America it was all about trout coming from an Irish background. Living in England its almost impossible to catch trout as all the rivers with trout were private and expensive? So we'd fly fish only whenever we went back to Eire. Anyway I arrive in America with my size 16 and eighteen hooks from course fishing in England and have to buy new gear. Then I start bass fishing and buy all new heavier gear and BFS becaomes popular ? Well you havent reached my size eighteen hooks but I cant use them anymore because I'm too old now !

Debo you gotta be careful with mono on bfs. It can warp the spool from the stretch in the mono. Braid with a leader is superior imo. Also that micro goat is impressive!

I used a collapsible bait bucket i got from temu for like $10, i use it for crappie,bluegill,sunfish etc for when im catfishing or just wanna have a fish fry. It came with a rope so i can put it in the water if i Dont wanna use a aerator but i have that choice to.

I’m so glad you got into the BFS. Personally it’s my favorite way to Bass Fish. Like you I don’t like throwing the tiny,tiny lures. 1/32 is about the smallest I go and that’s even pretty light for me. 😊 Hope you’re well my friend. Sorry I’m probably blowing up your phone. Had a mini Debo marathon today 😂

Two years ago I picked up BFS and much like you it was flat fun. All fish are fun on BFS. Now I primarily like to fly fish. Yes I assure you EVEN MORE FUN. A 3WT Fly Rod with foam top water beetle...AWESOME. Still fish both standard and bfs stuff however. Good show!

I have been wondering why no BFS on Debo's videos. Then, you bring it in with a bank catching everything in the lake. Sure opened my eyes. You guys are going to break me financially. Can you recommend a rod and reel that won't break the bank ? I really enjoyed the video even though there wasn't anything over 1&1/2 lbs. Proving again you are the man.

I’ve killed on a 1” gulp minnow on a 1/80th or even 1/100th ounce jigs. All bites on the fall, and the slower the fall the better

I plan on it, I've been getting a few bfs things lately lol. I have a zephyr, ordinary a curado bfs and the histar aurora air soon. Just need to find some rods in a length I like that's not super pricey lol. I agree 1/16th or 1/32 double jig rig is as low as I want to throw. I don't get that super ultra light stuff. I'll mainly want to ned rig and drop shot with one that will also do some other lures. And I want to use one from crappie.

Should have went with the silver wolf or the aurora air. Both are top rated cheap budget bfs reels that cast light lures well. I've been watching and talking to some guys that's really big into bfs fishing, way more so that Jeff and Paul lol. One has bought like 30 bfs reels and tested them.

The modern BFS reels paired with light braid works much better than the older BFS reels.
