I've not camped anywhere quite like this. On this Solo Hike I head along a river system teeming with wildlife that creates a manicured lawn like off track hiking experience.
Along the way I try and find out what the hype is about with closed cell foam sleeping mats and camp under a tarp in spots unlike anywhere I've camped in the Australian bush.

Gosh what a beautiful spot. I am envious just watching on

Another beautiful area. Nice to see you able to relax and enjoy the views and wildlife and take your time, rather than a lot of bush bashing and worrying about how long you’ve got to hike for.

Haha I know, it was a bit surreal lounging around for a couple hours a day!

Unreal spot. It’s not very often you find a river with such open vegetation. Those caves would certainly be a special place to setup.

Yeah the open vegetation is a bit surreal, quite unique

Hi Campfire Jesus, great video & nice to see some familiar spots on that beautiful river. I had to laugh as you just pipped us at the post, as I'm currently working on a video of the same spot which we'll have up in a couple of weeks time. Wait till you see our emu encounter 🙂 Looking forward to your next video. Regards Sonia

Thanks! Editing is definitely a time-consuming process, isn't it. I still have about 3 trips on hard drives. I'll look forward to checking out your video!

Yes it definitely is a time consuming job but I love it. You sound like me with your back log of trips. I too have about 4 more to catch up on. I expect to have this video done in a couple of days but just can't upload until I do a short video to share from our wedding which was before this trip...still waiting on pics from our photographer. I'm a bit anal about having videos in date order hahah. Anyway, have a good weekend

Hi Big Sky, I’d like to go for a hike in this park in Autumn. Looks like Central West. I’m guessing Goulburn River NP but not 100% sure. Campfire Jesus won’t share (?) but do you give general locations on your videos? If so I’ll keep my eye out for yours.

Looks like an amazing spot - im in the Coffs Harbour area, there are some nice creek and waterfall camping spots up this way for overnight trips - gotta ask about your camping mat - i've got a light weight blow up cell type mat which isnt all that comfortable, are the fold out mats like what your using good? looks bulky..but worth carrying?

I think all gear has its place and some items better for certain things. I prefer inflatable mats, as they pack smaller, offer better insulation and are generally more comfortable. For this trip, though the terrain was nice and open meaning I could strap the mat to the outside of my pack and not destroy it. I also had a lot of spare time, so having a foam mat to lay down on whilst relaxing was pretty nice. I feel this reason is one of the things that drive the popularity of these mats.

Holy s#%t, what’s an amazing area? I usually have an idea where you are but not a clue for that one. It does look landscaped and ready for a nice easy hike. Been thinking about a foam pad myself, but not sure. What is the make of your bug net?

I'm glad you enjoyed the video, Alex. For something like this, or to add underneath your sleeping mat in snow, these mats are great. As for the bug net, it's a Lixada Summer 1, I grabbed it from Aliexpress as an experiment.

Cool, and what is your verdict of the experiment?@@campfirejesus (great vid! 😁)

I would totally use a foam mat again in this area or some place similar, but it's not suitable for the majority of the trips I do. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks

But what park is this? Looks like central west. Goulburn River NP?

I don't often talk too much about locations, as whilst I'm happy to encourage people to get out in nature, I'd prefer not to encourage everyone to visit the same spot.

@@campfirejesus Oh, OK. That's a bit disappointing or maybe sad. I can understand for the "secret mission" type stories, but this place just looks like a nice NP. I love this kind of central west type landscape, just not sure what park this would be. If it's further west than the Blue Mountains not many casual social media followers are gonna bother to go that far anyhow.
