Please let me know in the comment section how i can improve the Balancing and/or Aligning of the Blades. I encountered excessive vibration when testing/spinning the blades. I have not exactly tracked the blades jet, but maybe the vibration come also from non-correct aligning or balancing of the blades?

Great video, enjoyed that. One thing I did was to balance the rotors both in the span and chord-wise directions. I aligned the rotor blades as you did, ( I used string) but that wasn't balanced in the chord direction. I had to slightly miss-align the rotor blades so that it balanced in the middle of the rotor mast. How much friction is there in those teeter hinge bearings ? The way I did it, it took 5 minutes for the rotor to stop teetering after a disturbance so span balancing was accurate. Blades out of track should be noticed as a vertical vibration and out of balance a horizontal vibration. Cheers Ben

Great job,, I was going to suggest the use of Pink colored rope for alignment but the laser was killing ,,I always balance the rotors mounted on top of each other instead of using the rotor head it self,,make sure the rotor head is also balanced ,,, once you get the rotors tracking vibration will be gone

Can you explain why your rotor has a fixed lead/lag design? I thought they should be able to move dynamically? Awesome project.
@ultralighthelicopter7 ай бұрын
Hy. On a teetering rotor system used in 2 bladed helicopters you don't need lead lag hinges because you have the geometry of the teetering hinge, which is the blade flapping hinge for both blades on a single flapping axis.

A follow up on my previous suggestion is to reweigh the blade and see if the center of gravity has change in either blade. You didn't mention whether it was a vertical or horizontal diversion. I have about 8000 hrs in rotor craft and have experienced just about every type of vibration there is

Great job!! The design of your helicopter is impressive. One question why did you choose a symmetrical profile of main rotor blades? It has the lowest efficiency against a profil with a flat bottom surface. Using an engine with a small power headroom (as a Rotax 582 have) there is a chance of lift force lack at nominal attack angles. Masquito helicopters are use a profile with a slightly curved bottom, it's probably a concern for efficiency in utilizing of available power.
@ultralighthelicopter6 ай бұрын
Thank you. I did use the NACA 0012 symmetrical profile because it is recommended for this type of helicopter in the plans. Originally build in the early 1980`s. Also the production of a symmetrical blade is easier in my humble opinion to produce with the quite basic tools i have. But i agree, for performance it may not be the best option to go with a symmetrical blade.
@HVeffects6 ай бұрын
@@ultralighthelicopter Thanks for the reply! I've been following your project almost from the beginning. Looking forward to the first fly test. A huge number of helicopters are use a symmetrical profile which is a classic as a whole. I'm planning to build an extremely lightweight apparatus (coaxial or with two synchro-rotors), today I'm just concentrating on propellers designing. You will succeed, I believe! Use all kinds of protection and the Lord be with you!

Just thought, but could part of the problem be with shifting 0f internal foam in the blade. Even though the whole blade weight remains the same there is a difference is rotational weight if internal items shift to the outer portion of the blade in full rotation. The further items shifting towards the outer rim, kind of like false gravity.

1, undo blade pitch link on master blade. adjust chord wise until blade pitch is zero and is free (Easily pitched movement by finger touch) See how Rotorway guys do it 2 repeat for slave blade this is your chord wise balance, reattach pitch links with equal lengths check with laser & fish line Note the positions, and weights added master & slave blade - Move slave to match master 3, if chord wise adjustments are done go lag wise only- on single blade. tip preload trunion on head with plastic washers - measure from leading edge Balance first then hover. Track only if blade profile is mapped (air foil template at each blade station = known start point for tracking, Adjust high blade down , Smoothing is an average most people can't get it glass smooth at all speeds...

Tolle Arbeit!
