It would never occur to me to store food or liquids in this mug. Unless it had a screw top it would never go in my kit. Even before your review I would just use the lid as intended to keep my morning beverage or lunch snack warm. Good review.

My fave camp mug but not perfect. The handle was useless so I cut mine off. Insulation mediocre. I took some baseball bat cushioned tape and wrapped the mug. This helps the coffee stay warmer and as a bonus, is bright orange, decreasing the odds of loss. Overall, not bad for about 10 bucks!

Honestly, I don’t think this mug is intended to throw in your rucksack if it contains a hot drink - I’m sure the nice people at GSI would agree. Buy a screw top mug if that’s what you want. I absolutely love this mug. Make a hot drink in it, put it aside as you break camp BUT leave the sipper open a tiny bit to allow for any build up of steam to escape. By the time your rucksack is packed, you’ve got a nice mug of hot coffee ready to send you on your way. Otherwise, it seems you love the mug as much as I do.

What about the 12 oz Nalgene mini as an alternative?
@UltralightNerd Жыл бұрын
The Nalgene clocks in at 12oz. The GSI is 3.5oz. That’ll be a no from me, dawg.

@@UltralightNerd the Nalgene is a 12 fluid ounce container which weighs about 3.5 ounces.
