This is the most sexy and exciting light aircraft available today.

Sweet plane.

Affordable is when the price comes down to the buy and operating cost of a top of the range pickup truck or Ute as we know it here in Australia.

You're living in fantasy land if you think that could/would ever happen. Certification and legal mitigation funds are what drive up the costs of GA aircraft. We have the USA litigation culture to thank for that.

Dream on. That’s totally unrealistic and impossible. We are talking about a high performance airplane new with modern avionics. For this plane and value the price is totally reality and ok.

Lancair Ultralight, I love it!

Dan great report. But you showing further on in the video an old VL3 out of the first series. The modern today ones are totally different and way more luxurious and better. Why did you not showing more of it by the newer one you standing in front of? Besides that awesome plane, one of the best LSA you can get, if you can afford it. I guess in the US the VL3 must be an experimental Plane because of the old dusty FAA rules. But the VL3 is no untrained pilot beginners plane for greenhorns. That’s for sure. It’s a complexed high performance airplane, best with the Rotax 915 is. A dreamliner. But you need for your own life and safety a couple of days of training with a firm instructor to fly away safe. I love the VL3! In Europe its flown as a Ultralight plane up to 600kg class. Amazing. Distance becomes short. If you fly mostly alone or with one more person, its for sure the better Cirrus SR22. Sharp looking, efficient and fast.

NIce looking airplane. Our RV-8A with 180hp and constant speed does 160kts TAS at 55% power at 12,500' DA with fixed gear, burning 7.0 gph. At that altitude with no turbo charger, we can also bump it up to 60% power with a TAS of 165 knts. It is all aluminum structure which can be repaired anywhere.

Carbon/feebleglass are super simple to repair. When finished with the repair, you won't be able to tell what was broken. Nothing wrong with aluminum, nothing wrong with carbon fiber.

Totally different plane and you compare apple with orange. I always would prefer a VL3 instead of an RV-8A. Its all about taste believes and money. So everybody like the personal story, but the VL3 is awesome. If you like apples. Otherwise you like oranges.

Beautiful! Completely unaffordable, as well. Safe? Give me an Ercoupe any day. Fred Wick knew what he was doing. If an aspiring entrepreneur renewed the Ercoupe design, I'd be in 100%!

My brother has an Ercoupe (Alon), he LOVES it. I call it a Scarecoupe (not fitting, but a bit funny) Ya man, get one, you'll love it. (I have an N3 Pup)

This is a stunning plane, but I have questions about the long term endurance and reliability of carbon fiber. How well will it handle BASH events, lightning strikes, and the overall stress/rigors of flight. The of carbon fiber feels like a decision to keep the weight down. Increases the maximum weight of LSA's (for non-medical pilots) by the end of 2023.

Carbon fiber is stronger than steal lol

Is retractable landing gear allows now in the US on ultralight aircraft’s? Best Regards from Denmark 🇩🇰
@droge1923 жыл бұрын
No, this aircraft is not in the LSA category. Weight, speeds, retractable gear and constant speed prop take it out of LSA. It's an experimental category aircraft.

Sounds like the controls aren’t balanced in feel like an RV.

Have you flown this, if not how donyou figure it's not balanced? I've heard great feedback on the flying characteristics.
