The small banter between Dan and Gen actually kinda restored the character of the original Dan most people now from Ultraseven, who's not stern, but more light-hearted and humorous at times Edit: I think Dan is friendlier in this episode

Yea, one reason why this was one of my favorite episodes as a kid was how it put the focus it on Dan and Gen like in a buddy cop movie, especially liked that bit at the start where Dan forgets that he and Gen were the only ones around, any idea where everyone went though ?

This story about Bock and his bear cub was probably inspired by folk legend Kintaro, a boy who rides atop a huge bear. But little Bock isn't a money grubber, and has bad memories of his stay on Earth. I also noticed how Dan is more cheerful and light--hearted in this episode, and not nearly as brutal with Gen. Dan is like he was in Ultraseven some five years before. 😺
