A few things. 1, getting a few gallons of evaporust is cheaper than getting a pail. 2. You can use that stuff in a jar and zap that in the ultrasonic to make it work faster. And 3, if you want the outside of the socket to look really nice. Get a nylon buffing wheel, its like $10 on amazon, put it on a grinder, wear a mask, put an extension on it so you can spin it (I used a drill). Then slowly move the bit over the buffer and you''ll have a satin finish that removes all those little random scratches making it a lot nicer and easier to read. That will be my winter project. I'll probably have to get a new wheel though.

I have spray guns. I use a 60/40 mix of Acrastrip 600 to water (60% Acrastrip 600), heated, cook for 20 minutes. It will even remove cured polyester, but it'll take longer. Acrastrip 600 is available from Grapek-Bates.

I do what I call crab boils. Boil massive amounts of pots in my stock pot or I have multiple crock pots I use for small parts. I also do cold baths for the biggest parts that I do in large plastic totes and just leave for several days. My question is why use an ultra sonic? Is it just for the temp diel? I have one that you can dial in the temp and it vibrates to get rid of air bubble and agitate grime but honestly I haven't touched it in years. I can check my crock pots and check with a temp tester if I'm doing plastics but by now I know what crock pots and at what settings they put out. a small crock at dollar store is 10 bucks and massive 2 gallons are about 30 bucks and on facebook market place there 5 bucks or some times free . Am I missing anything about an ultrasonic cleaner?

Doesn’t plastic container absorb vibration? Better to use glass container? And anyone can explain how vibration and frequency go through the barrier of any container? TIA

Just ordered a ultrasonic cleaner and simple green extreme for a engine overhaul. Was also planning on using this to clean all my socket sets. Great idea on cleaning first and then the evaporust. Did the simple green extreme do any damage to chrome or impact sockets? Any sweet spot on time for dirty sockets? I was thinking maybe 15 to 30 minutes.

Hi and thank you! I had the most luck with 20 minute sessions, usually 2 sessions per batch. The cleaner is really loud, I recommend keeping the Amazon box it comes in and placing the inverted box balanced overtop the cleaner when it's running to reduce the noise. No damage to the sockets.

Yes, water is fine..I was just showing how you can use a cleaning agent in a bottle, not have to fill the whole tank with it.

Glass containers work better than plastic containers

If you put a bottle of chemicals into a heated ultrasonic cleaner, or even a regular one it's possible to have your bottle explode.

I use zip-loc bags without issue. Never have to clean the cleaner!
