The 230 was my first watch and agree, it is still relevant and a steal for the price. For me the biggest con was the lack of altimeter. Great review Steven.

Agreed. The lack of altimeter isn't really an issue for road runners. Thanks for watching!

I am using it for 6 years and I see no reason to buy anything better. Although, I must agree that it's a bit off when you run in forests or mountains but in my case it never got completely lost. I often run through a specific forest trail and it shows that I'm running ~2 meters next to that trail but that's it, the distance is more-or-less ok and the pace shown during run is accurate (or at least shows same results as my phone).

Great video man! Just got given one new in the box. I’ve had a couple apple watches but that’s the only smart watches I’ve used to excited to see what these Garmin’s are all about

Hey Steven - UltraTrailDeclan needs a GPS watch! I love my Garmin 235 and use it 80% of the time, and use my Fenix 5 Sapphire only where battery life and accuracy is a must. I prefer the lighter watch on my wrist, still getting used to the heavier, chunkier Fenix.
@UltraTrailSteven4 жыл бұрын
I have heard that about the Fenix watches; that they are heavy! Thanks !

Great video!! I love the FR230 because of the lack of HR sensor. If I wanted to replace my 230 with something more current (any brand), what would you recommend?

What do you want in a GPS watch? Will you use it for road or trail or both? What features are important for you?

After watching videos from you and UltraDad, I am going to jump on the Coros wagon. I definitely need something that'll last deep into the ultra hours. I don't want to keep needing to have a spare contraption to use after my 230 dies. I bought a Plan B 230 off of OfferUp, but I just need to make the investment and buy a coros.

@@davidserrano7935 You can't go wrong with the Apex! Great watch!

Seems like it was worth the investment! Too bad that it’s off when you’re running trails because that’s your thing but all in all looks like you’re getting a lot out of it.

I actually haven't worn this watch in over two years except in my heart rate comparison video. I did get a lot of great use out of it, and so did my wife!

Are there other watches with longer battery life for ultra running?
@UltraTrailSteven4 жыл бұрын
Yep. I have the Coros Apex 46mm watch; it can go for 30 hours in full GPS mode, or upto 60 hours in a modified state.
@thescarecrowrunner4 жыл бұрын
@@UltraTrailSteven totally agree! Love my Coros Apex 46mm. I went 29:18 in my 100 last year and still had 18% charge when I finished.
